Reduce the translucency weight against the skin in the surfaces tab. If that doesn't work you will need to edit the surface image map itself in an image editor.
As far as realistic hair I would suggest one of the dforce hair options from Linday. The Outoftouch hair assets are also fairly good. To get it to look really realistic you will need to play with the hair surface settings and also play with the scene lighting.
