But you are? You are attacking my reading comprehension and yet you didn't even read my username and realised it's the same as as the person writing the disclaimer texts in 0.9. Look at my signature again. I'm the co-dev and the person who released this last update and wrote that message you called cringe.
So yeah, if you got anything to say then I'm the guy. But please, if you do answer, don't go on an endless unrelated emotional rant again if you wanna have a civil conversation with me.
I'm sorry, I was responding to a screenshot. You didn't seem to get that, so whatever context might have been in the game I wasn't privy to. Again, please actually read and comprehend what I actually wrote, and not just assume things. Lemme quote myself, as you didn't seem to get it the first time around.
"Holy shit, is that an actual in-game message from the developer? Cause that is a serious case of 'getting high on your own supply'.
I was just poking around out of curiosity, as I had largely written the game off after the dev disavowed the monster scenes..."
That screenshot didn't have any indication you were the author. I saw you were some sort of dev (Sinful Summer =/= Deadmoon Surival), and it's not uncommon to see them cross-pollinate other game's discussion, or circle the wagons and defend each other from criticism. So whatever, you wouldn't be the first dev to seemingly come to the defense of another, so I didn't bat an eye. But no, I'm supposed to also comb over your entire signature, see in the fine text that you're a co-developer for a different game, and
also intuit that you are the author of the specific content in the screenshot? As someone not personally invested in this game's development drama, that is all a bit much. Again, I didn't play the content, nor did I ever claimed to have. As I already said, I was bored and just sorta rubbernecking in this thread until that screenshot caught my attention. My post is and was a response to a specific screenshot, a jaw-droppingly bad admission from the author.
We'll also gloss over how I largely agreed with the sentiment of the later half of the screenshot: F95 is filled with slop hogs with no taste for quality. A lot of low-effort shit manages to rise to the top, while other projects with much more heart and talent fall by the wayside. That's all still true, regardless you don't
whinge about it in game to your audience. Does Ridley Scott stop their movies midway to have a narrator bitch to the audience about the audience's lack of appreciation for the director's talent? No. I hope I don't need to explain why. Also pointing all of that out is just a statement of reality, it was in no way a judgement on overall quality of the game past or present. I had checked out early because of pacing issues and direction shift, but that's not an indictment on the overall quality of the game at present (which I don't actually have an opinion on, cause again, I haven't played it). The stuff that I had played back in the day was well made, and clearly the person making it had talent and cared. But even 'good' games can have people bounce off of them, check out, or loose interests for various reasons outside of the overall 'quality' of a project. Again, I was slagging off the audience here on F95 by decrying their love and defense of generative AI, and you thought that was criticism directed at this project?
But yeah, if you wrote that message to the audience in the screenshot I was originally responding to, then you are the source of some peak 40 something divorced dad energy level cringe. I have no idea if you're a good dev or not, and I don't have an opinion on your content. But I stand by my assessment of the screenshot's content, and by extension what it says about you as a creative if you wish to claim ownership of it. Want to prove me wrong? Don't
whinge at your audience in-game because of perceived criticism. Maybe don't fly off the handle at criticism not actually directed at you? Again, why get defensive about slow pacing for the parts you didn't actually create?
I am more than capable of being civil, but that only works when people honestly respond to what I actually write and not what they assumed I did.
