But I call this and other games like it a try-hard because look at where they always end up. Abandoned. Years (or in some cases weeks) of 'slow burn' development down the drain because somebody got off more on cooking than eating. This came out in 2021 and wasted so much time on the 'build up' that it ultimately failed to reach whatever finale they were going for. Imagine where it could have been by now if it weren't for all the filler.
Very well said.

Adult Visual Novel.

Porn
hub > search bar > no pubic hair lesbian incest
I think you need to work on your media literacy and reading comprehension. Porn is a very obvious umbrella term for anything NSFW, including eroges. AKA Erotic Visual Novels. Not just real porn. And I fucking love pubic hair on women. You must have missed the part where I called mom's cunt deliciously hairy, and how if the daughter had a bald one, it would have made for a better contrast in body types. That's the only reason. Any other time I'm staunch advocate of the bush.

On another note, Pornhub is straight garbage. Even when you search for lesbian porn, they'll still fill your results with unavoidable clips of dicks, blowjobs and dudes jerking off on chick's faces. Plus the site is steadily getting blocked in more and more states. With Florida being next.

So novel just means erotic and teeth cleaning bush but not an umbrella for sexy times drama, world building, characterization, story telling etc?

An 18 year daughter who shares genes with her mom during an apocalypse has a bush with a 40 year old mom? I mean they have shaved legs so they must be getting razors somewhere I guess. That’s something Tomato can work on if he comes back and wants a bigger difference between mother and daughter. Probably too much plot if I’m finally understanding your beef with this game?
I said you need to work on your media literacy and reading comprehension, but now I think you need to work on your English because damn, what a word salad. Just forget it, we're done here.

There is indeed a lot of low effort slop out there, but there's also a lot of try-hard 'too much effort' slop. Where developers put the cart before the horse by wasting too much time on boring story shit instead of the sex scenes. This game fell into the latter category. It didn't help that the character models came from Honey Select either, and they all looked the same age. So there was never anything really special here. The mother-daughter scene would have been exponentially hotter if she were a loli. (And it wasn't being mostly narrated by the daughter and in the third-person.)
I'm going to disagree with you about Deadmoon Survival.

I enjoyed the slowburn approach of the dev and was happy to be a $ supporter.

What you refer to as 'boring story shit' I refer to as creating an immersive world within which this story occurs.

HS does limit the choice of character models, but I like the models used for the 3 mains in this story and I did not think they all looked the same age.

As to loli - sure it would have been nice but given that the dev originally included Patreon for support - Patreon rules expressly forbid that among other things.

So - two different opinions about Deadmoon Survival ...

There is certainly room for that and more on F95, right?

Cheers!! :coffee:

Sadge. The way it would end up was visible a mile away ever since the whole zombie scene debacle, with game changing directions every update never commiting to one. At the point before 0.9 it became an over-developed mahwa type slop.
It's not even the slowburn a24 stuff, the game was getting overwritten like crazy making you power your way through endless bogfest of talking.
I would say that it's good to see at least some sort of content, even if it's scraps welded together. Kinda sucks with it only being lesbian content, but there isn't much more to ask for in this situation, getting this is more than I've expected, god bless Ruykiru.
I dunno, this game and it's shitty predicament annoyed me to no end for like a year, so I actually decided to go out of read only. How can a man get it so wrong on every decision so damn consistently that it gets into his head hard enough to go full radiosilence and wash hands off his own passion project.

Some fans liked the zombies scenes. Some fans hated the zombie scenes.

Some fans liked the lesbian content. Some fans hated the lesbian content.

Some fans liked more story. Some fans hated more story.

Some fans liked the MC. Some fans hated the MC.

Some fans liked the honey select models. Some fans hated the honey select models.

Some fans like straight to sex. Some fans liked teasing and build up to sex.

It goes on and on. Tomato trying to please everyone and ended up pleasing little. Patreon changing rules also forced a lot of cut content and money flow. Hence why there were so many variations of the game.

So much fucking waiting for this shit? I understand that the developer has his issues to solve, problems and all, but all the choices only served to make me hate the "mc", a shitty obligatory lesbian sequence (whoever likes it, good for them, I never liked that and that's why I liked the game, because it gave me the option to avoid it and the story accommodated to that choice) that didn't even give me the option to skip it, finally, that shit was longer than any of the previous sequences, well, for that, I would have preferred to wait for the developer to finish his own work, take as long as it took, even if I had to wait 10 years just to see it, before leaving with this bad taste in my mouth that this update left me. Wherever you are hottomato, I hope you're okay, I'm sorry for whatever you're going through. I will try to support you in whatever way I can, after all I tried to do it from patreon whenever I could, and sorry if I look angry, but this update is the only thing it left me, it started well, but as the end approached, it only left me with a feeling of hatred and contempt for this work that I liked so much, I don't usually write or say anything about other people's works, but now I do get angry, whatever happens, I feel like this update never happened, and if your co-writer gave you this idea or was he the one who did this, as I understood in his "farewell message" well, good luck in future works, but that path is not your strong point, instead of leaving satisfied, you only left annoyances. Please excuse my poor English, and well if anyone was offended, I'm sorry, I couldn't handle the bad taste in my mouth that it left, something that wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable, and this last part was definitely neither perfect nor enjoyable, at least for me.

I'm not sure if you took the time to read about the circumstances of this latest release - comments are among the latest pages of this thread, starting around the time of the release of the latest rev.

I won't go and reiterate all of it, but just a quick summary:

The Dev went radio silent a number of months ago - not characteristic of him - and we literally don't know if he is alive or dead from an accident.

Ruykiru decided to post the content he had access to, tried to give it a coherent ending with the limited resources he had access to, and added warnings that this was incomplete.

Some of us appreciated the release of the available content and others did not, for a variety of reasons.

If this is the end of Deadmoon Survival - I appreciated the latest release as An ending - even if not the ending to the complete AVN we were all hoping for.

GL finding other AVN content you enjoy.

Cheers!! :coffee:

Holy shit, is that an actual in-game message from the developer? Cause that is a serious case of 'getting high on your own supply'. I was just poking around out of curiosity, as I had largely written the game off after the dev disavowed the monster scenes (which for me was the game's unique niche) as otherwise the game was a case of perpetual blue-balls revolving around characters stuck in an apocalypse but who continue to maintain pre-apocalypse hang-ups about sex and intimacy. Seeing as how the game perpetually failed to pull the trigger on the humans ever fucking each other, I long ago lost interest in what was on offer here. Still, tooting your own horn at finally delivering the goods after years of buildup? My Brother in Christ, whole entire other games (including some with better writing) have come and gone in that time.

I'm all for slow burns. I appreciate when erotica takes place between actual characters that the writer has given you a reason to care about. People with lives, goals, asperations, hopes, and fears; who are beset by both success and failure, and a narrative that shows how they react to what life tosses at them. Now & Then had zero erotica for the first chapter, had flashbacks or dream sequences to show off some sexy-times in Ch.2 and 4. It only finally crossed the line with the protagonist and his adoptive daughter in Ch.5 (out of 25 chapters by the time the game was finished), when they were both fairly well established characters reacting to a novel set of circumstances. The game also had regular updates every month, meaning all 25 chapters were delivered in just over 2 years (they've already just about finished their 2nd game as well, both of which had far larger casts than just 3). There is a difference between 'slow burn' and 'glacial' story pacing.

Side Note: Browsing F95 makes it abundantly clear that the 'audience' such as it is here has zero fucking taste, no regards for quality, and will happily eat up any slop so long as they can derive even the tiniest amount of sexual gratification from it. Shit writing, shit translations, ChatGPT and other generative AI slop. It all gets likes, adulation, rabid knee-jerk defense, and a frightening amount of it is financially successful. Simultaneously there is an embarrassment of choices when it comes to examples of creators perpetually refusing to finish a game in order to continue to coast on their sizable donation base. All of that is true, and depressing; but that's not a shield against criticism.

What the heck are you going on about my man, for all I know the main developer is dead or very sick. This was never his job so he couldn't deliver steady updates every month because, guess what, creating AVNs takes a lot of time. Not everybody is lucky enough that they can both earn a good salary and can dedicate time to their passions. He never milked this because he earned pennies. He told me he even had to pay huge taxes so he earned even less.

My comment at the end of 0.9 was just what I consider a fact after being in this forum for more than 5 years. There's so much low effort garbage in particular in the 'incest' genre, but I don't consider this novel a part of it and it was building up to something great. If you don't think that, that's fine, it's just MY opinion. I'm not asking you to agree with me.

I just want you to not disrespect my friend and hard working developer by calling this low effort, okay? You don't know how long things actually take until you become a developer yourself. So yes, even what you and I might consider "slop" still takes effort (some more than others of course, but that's another topic). Things are not as easy and not everyone has the will to continue for the sake of art without economic incentives because we don't live in utopia yet, sadly.

Okay. Great? Your point? I'm not here to pass judgement on folk's personal lives. I'm just saying that complaining about how shit this community is does not work as a shield from criticism. If updates take forever, on top of story progression so slow it can be measured at the pace tectonic plates move? The fact that someone is doing this as a hobby might be an explanation, but it's not an excuse. If you want to be more popular and have a generous donation base, you need to hit it out of the park quality wise, really tap into a niche or under-served kink, or be religious with your update schedule. If you can't do any of those, it's not your audience's fault you aren't raking in the big bucks.

Okay, first off, you can kindly piss off with your presumptuous bullshit. I went to college for Game Art, Design & Animation. I know explicitly how much work game dev takes. It is by and large a field filled with passionate and creative people who are both underappreciated and grossly underpaid for their work. That being said, none of that is a shield from specific criticisms of their work. You also might want to work on your reading comprehension, because I wasn't making specific accusations that this game was slop; only that the audience on F95 loves to eat slop, and nobody with any amount of familiarity with this forum should be surprised by that reality. This forum loves and defends slop, and there are plenty who do the same for grifters and their projects (making it easy to toss that accusation around, because it is common enough). If you didn't get it already, I'm taking the piss out of the audience here; but still maintaining the fact that complaining about them being shit in game is hilariously bad. This game doesn't use generative AI, and that is a mark in its favor. As for everyone else who makes use of environmentally unsustainable generative AI (built off the backs of worldwide art theft, for the explicit benefit of venture capitalist ghouls)? They can all get fucked, and that is my professional opinion on the matter.

My beef with this game in general was its pacing, which was so slow it resulted in perpetual blue-balling years after the start of the project; a reality that the dev was aware of and is probably why they originally put in the monster scenes. But when they grew tired of doing that and said they weren't making any more (and wanted to pull the previous ones out of the game if I remember correctly), I lost any interest in what this game was doing. That's their right as the developer, but likewise the audience is entitled to have and share opinions about that change (up to and including checking-out of the project). If they've at long last managed to finally deliver a non-monster erotic scene worth a damn? Good for them, and I'm happy for the folks who enjoyed that content. That still doesn't magically shield the game from prior criticism concerning both the amount and pace of the content. But I'm not here to judge someone's personal life, all I have to go on is the game as presented. I mean, should games with troubled development be given a pass or be treated with kid's gloves? Would you pull your punches when being critical of UbiSoft's Skull & Bones just because its development was a decade long shit-show of mismanagement? You can, but I wouldn't. I get that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was developed in Ukraine amid both a pandemic and the Russian invasion, but those explanations are not excuses for game-breaking bugs and poor performance.

In the end, the most 'disrespectful' thing I did was voice my opinion that if the screenshot I was responding to was from the game and was the developer talking directly to the audience to share their criticism of said audience? That shit's cringe. It also makes them look incredibly weak and thin skinned. Running off on how your last update was 'peak', and how people who disagree must clearly be mistaken? And to do that in game, in a message directly to the audience? That is some real 40-year-old divorced dad energy. That mindset is abhorrent to me. If I acted like that in any of my art classes, I would have been laughed out of the room. Its the attitude of an entitled and out-of-touch wannabe auteur, not someone interested in actual engagement with their audience or fielding criticism as a means to grow as a creative. I don't know if that is how this dev is in real life. I'm not their dad. Again, all I have to go off is what has been presented in game. Even then, that opinion is still contingent on facts. If I later find out that the screenshot I was reacting to was taken out of context, or not actually in the game or the opinion of the developer? That's going to change my opinion, obviously.

You just disrespected the hell out of the proof readers in game messages so how is that not indirectly responding to him? You cant just take shots at a guy and not expect a response.

Going by your reference to Stalker 2 and Ubisoft being Ubisoft, those games were developed by a team of developers and not a solo person doing 85% of the work on the game and a proof reader/translator. Stalker 2 is a very unique situation since France is only being invaded by Macrons stupidity not an actual war time invasion/terrorism. No way that translates to this games situation.

Dev is from France and the proof reader is from Spain, English aint their first language and stuff is going to come across stiff or "cringe" in writing.

Well I disagree on the 40 year old rant and all of its context. This was the proof reader attempting to to duct tape closure for fans after the Dev ghosted everyone... including the proof reader. 0.9 update was not created by Tomato, who was doing the heavy lifting for this game. Your entire thing was... naive disrespect since you dont appear have the full grasp of the situation after the removal of the zombie sex.

But you are? You are attacking my reading comprehension and yet you didn't even read my username and realised it's the same as as the person writing the disclaimer texts in 0.9. Look at my signature again. I'm the co-dev and the person who released this last update and wrote that message you called cringe.

So yeah, if you got anything to say then I'm the guy. But please, if you do answer, don't go on an endless unrelated emotional rant again if you wanna have a civil conversation with me.

damn...I'm so sad...although I understand the rushed ending I'm still sad that MC distanced himself away from his mother and sister and that he didn't have more sex with them...I wish that MC could have had sex with them and they became pregnant...I want to thank Ruykiru for explaining in the game about what happened and why the game was rushed...this could have been an amazing game...I can think of a thousand different things on how this great game could have continued...it sucks because there aren't more zombie games available...I assume this is the end with no more updates?
