Not really surprised, delay after delay after delay. And it's not just this game, from the few games still worth looking at, the others didn't have updates for between 8 and 24 months. Seems like the adult game scene lying on its deathbed is taking its last few breaths.

For the financial failure, well - the game has been out for 4 years, was marketed as an Incest game from the beginning, yet didn't manage to progress the plot in that direction in a significant way. Instead we got NTR, boring girlfriend sex, announcement of stuff like transformation/sissification which is clearly scaring off at least 98% of the potential playerbase - due to being an extreme niche which completely clashes with the rather mainstream hetero-incest-domination theme.

Really, how many people have tags like NTR, futa, transformation and such on the permanent ignore list and thus never even tried this game? Because it seems to have a really good approach to incest, where the family members don't act weird and irrational from the beginning (e.g. "saw my son under the shower, now i'm a horny slut" or "dating my mom" tropes), a bunch of good mechanics like the robust sandbox mode and the interactive sex.

Does anyone have any specific information about the delay? Was there another message about when the update will be released?
From the screenshots above I understand there might be a delay, but surely it will be released within this week. Did he get more specific afterwards?

Milking got out of control by too many devs and too many people tried producing VNs in the hopes of making quick and easy money before mostly all giving up within a year of starting. Patreon cracking down on various things didn't help either (but NOT doing anything about all the milking of course). Seeing the guys who post one fucking demo and maybe one update, before then just teasing and teasing for months before abandoning the project is just maddening. "Not getting enough money fast enough so fuck this" basically.

The market is so oversaturated (even in regards to the transformation and especially NTR games you mentioned) and most developers can't be trusted, are unreliable, and wishy-washy so it's no surprise that things are beginning to run dry.

I've been dicked over for supporting the development of these games like six times now so I'm pretty much done and will only buy FINISHED products now.

After he delayed the update the same day of the actual release date I'm not sure how truthful a new release date can be. I mean just check the thread a couple of times this week and don't get hyped too much

if a dev loses subscriptions he will not give faster updates, that makes no sense. if you cant get money with the project you abandon the project, no way you would work even more if you are just loosing support.

Another dev threatened to cancel their project if they didn't receive enough support. I told them it'd probably be best to just give up and cancel it then. It's better than being strung along.

Was it that vampire realporn game? ^ ^
Salia Coel who makes the "femdom university" games stated some time ago that they'd have to cancel their projects if they weren't making enough to support the development of them (despite restarting and remaking their main game TWICE while never finishing it). I'm sad to hear if the person in charge of Bloodshift has said something similar but at least it would make more sense in their case (making a real-porn game with models making custom images and scenes would be quite expensive).

Ah yeah, Bloodshift was the name...

So this dev was constantly promising people various boons in return for writing positive reviews. Which apparently isn't against any site rules? Oh well.
Then he said something like - his fiancee is going to leave him if his subscribestar doesn't make 1,1k USD until the end of the month.

So we went from "accepting donations", over excuses like "had to pause for 2 years due to surgery / baby", to threatening players to abandon the game without sufficient cash rolling in. Brilliant.

What happened to "i create this game because i want to" ?

I believe that developers of this kind often... very, very often have everything ready in advance, or they deliberately delay the release and are already working on the next update just to keep the payments coming for another month or year.
This can be compared to how in these games, they save the "sweetest" characters—the ones that the audience liked the most—for later.
I’m sure that everyone who was interested in the game would be willing to pay for it once on Steam in its finished form, rather than waiting for years for small updates, piece by piece, and gradually losing all interest in the project. It’s hard to keep believing a developer every year who promises a SEA of content that’s supposedly just around the corner.
I also don’t like how games on Steam have started being released in chunks.
Soon, we’ll have to link our credit cards when launching a game and pay for every step, shot, or line of dialogue in real-time.

There used to be lolcow streamers, now there are cash-cow developers.

With deathable i think the time that the updates take to be finished is reasonable, giving that with the support the game have it is not his full time job obviously. The thing that gets this frustation is that he promises to deliver on a date and doesn't deliver.
If he didn't set deadlines it would be better.
