I bet you can get them anyway. It will just require a little work (UnRen and enable Console, then add the command to reenable the Preferences). I don't know it offhand, but I could find the command in the Console without too much trouble to get those activated again.

I was happy to see Deeper being continued but ok it's an alpha but there are so many bugs it's not fun to continue playing at the moment. Just as the options are not activated to be able to play in full screen mode is annoying. I hope the next release is better.

Yes, the resumption of development is positive, but (besides bugs)... I think that there is less erotic content (shemale/futa is also not so explicit displayed) and no major progress of the storyline compared to the previous releases. UI overhaul (including animated backgrounds) still needs a little bit of work to be polished. Anyway, this game has still potential (which was there also few years ago:)).

Of all the design decisions a dev could make why the fuck would they strip out the settings menu?

It feels like someone is trying to pull an Apple and lock down the game to "preserve the experience" and to make sure that end users have less control over the game. I would bet that if anyone tried to make a patch of any kind for this game that it would trigger some kind of lockout and auto delete of ones save games.

not just that, there is no settings menu, and they added stupid af politics to the shemale characters storyline, cause that's "totally" what people want in porn.

overall just seems like it's gonna get even less progress than the first version of it, and worse overall due to the blatant politics shoving, and lack of basic quality of life features (like settings. or rewinding dialogue.)
