Vrel popps up on discord every now and then still and there has not been any announcements. I doubt the game is anywhere near being abandoned, especially without anything about that being said.

Ahh yes the standard "it has been 3 hours since the last update so the game is dead" discussion. Just because someone isnt addicted to social media giving updates by the minute doesnt mean that they have dropped the project or that its been abandoned.
I don't think it's about updates, but rather about commits. Do you want to dispute the fact that Vrel has taken a step back from development? You can check his commit history
Also, it's (at least from me) not meant as in "too bad no more free shit" but rather "he was doing stuff I liked and he started fading away, so I am worried if he is alright".

The frequency of his contributions has undisputably lessened. I can't remember of last time I seen him on /dgg/. - vrelnir doesn't push his changes to dev until it's release time. they stay secret until then.
- he used to be in charge of accepting merge requests, but since he's not too good at reading other people's code (100% relatable) and bad at declining volunteer contributions on the basis of poor quality - someone else had to step in.
- he's at about the same level of activity otherwise.
Allright, if it is that way, I am happy, although he definitely used to be active on dgg and is not anymore, although it can of course be unrelated.

Ahh yes the backseat devs who know what is TRULY happening with the project they have no part in and know nothing about. Clearly they are experts in the secret goings on behind the scenes with their power of divination! Clearly all of the messages they have decoded from their anal cavity all point DIRECTLY to the devs being lazy fucks because we dont have a major update every two days. Clearly. I mean what other reason could there be? Surely making content for a game as complex and unwieldy as this is a simple matter right? It MUST be easy because its just text! Any delays must be EVIDENCE of mismanagement greed and laziness!
Stop making baseless accusations and jumping to conclusions. The game is a MASSIVE undertaking with a lot of moving parts so you cant just slap in content. Anything and everything that gets added has to pay the tech debt tax and for a project of this size that debt is massive.

Im just tired of seeing the same assumptions and same complaints and same ignorant bullshit posted every page. It doesnt matter what the intent is its just unfiltered garbage. If you want to understand why so many of these projects fail and die you just have to read the discussions that revolve around them because they are all filled with a bunch of people running around claiming the game is "dead" because its been two days since the last release or its "sold out" or "lost its way" because they didnt do something someone liked how they liked it. If you were making something and all you saw was a bunch of shitposting about how its going off the rails and how you abandoned it but wont announce that you have because you want to keep raking in donations you are gonna sour pretty quick.
Its a shame that Vrel doesnt engage with the community more but can you blame him when every time he looks hes probabably slapped in the face with a bunch of entitled people screeching because hes not fast enough or yell at him becuase he made content they didnt like before the content they do?

I understand ur viewpoint completely, i was a lil shocked myself to see somebody say the game is dead cus of 2 months of inactivity when this is pretty typical for Vrell all things considered, I assume whatever the team/community is working on is pretty big since there are talks about a new plantperson LI. Even if its not smth big at least we have a somewhat refreshed Vrel and Co. coming back to the scene. I dont know why people jump to conclusions w/o doing some investigating but i dont think you should be THIS frustrated, i get u tho.

Its just a compounded reaction to seeing these kinds of discussions and complaints lodged at everything i follow repeatedly forever. Eventually the straw will break your back. Its just so damn tiring to read the doomposting about everything everywhere all the time. Just let people make things without harassing them with made up bullshit is all im asking. Its especially bad when people get harassed into burnout only for those same people that complained to start complaining even harder that it officially shut down like it wasnt directly due to their actions.
People try to play internet detective and essentially cyberstalk people in some attempt to "uncover the truth" about what is going on behind the scenes and fail to grasp that they dont have the full picture and are talking out their ass. Like if a guy stops posting on twitter or discord or whatever that he has suddenly dropped off the planet or something. That if he doesnt have a bunch of stuff personally tagged to his name in commits that he has suddenly abandoned the project or somehow exploiting volunteers or something which people have claimed in this thread. Unless you are a close and active part of the dev team you dont know shit so its best to not run around smearing it everywhere.

absolutely, people should also realize that he is doing this all for free too... it's not like some triple A studio that want 70€ for the game, being little patient never hurt anyone before...

It's all preference. If you're using the mod website it is easy to see visual changes on the fly with the dropdown menu in the upper-right corner. Just experiment and see what works for you. In DoL+ they've added some new stuff, personally I prefer Hikari+Mysterious, but Mysterious is a bit bugged. Mysterious is new combat sprites (that are pretty damn hot I think), but they don't always work even when the mod is loaded by itself.
You guys know that Vrel replies to comments on their blog almost daily? There is enough communication as is.

Yeah its almost like discussing something on the place where it is the main and only featured content and can be heavily moderated is just a better option than somewhere you have no control over and is a giant target for drive by shit stirrers is a good idea or something. But we all know that the true sign of activity is how many tweets commits or discord posts someone does. Obviously. Random doomposters say so after all.

nah, i only update it when i playing the game. i did see some error with the UI affected after the game update, but if you want to change it, feel free to do it. the script itself seems okay.
