Thinking the game is dead because it's been 2 months is funny af the usual update takes 1 month and big updates take 1.5 or 2 months and this update might have a new class and love interest as said earlier meaning it's a big update (and the update that added pregnancy took 4 months)

There's a boatload of content in the game and enough replaybility that it rivals extremely popular indie/AAA games.

Even if Vrel decided to stop development, DoL is big enough that I wouldn't blame them. Furthermore, it's not just Vrel working on it. Someone else would probably take the torch if Vrel let them.

What is that "new class" you are talking about?

There's so much stuff in the game part of its unreasonable difficulty indirectly comes from that(although most of it is bad design and poor balancing, of course). it's often impossible to tell which skills and activities are relevant and even important at all, and many of these co-dependencies and connections are not logical, so you can only discover them by poking the game for hours and days with no hints.

Which wouldn't be such a problem, had the game not been balanced so poorly you would often end up with no reward or even a punishment for your efforts. A new player gets completely annihilated by the RNG and all the nonsense, while a veteran player abuses the systems just because he knows them. So who is the game's 100% difficulty balanced around? Probably no one.

Look at two school events everyone will run into. Principal's password random event - 5000 pounds payout earned in 15 clicks, possibly on day 1. Science fair event - requires either weeks of grinding skills and/or exploration, amounting to hours of gameplay - 700 pounds. Is that well balanced? Absolutely not.

Anyone who says the unfairness is the point will be repeatedly hit with defecation-inducing rays. Just because you like bad game design doesn't make it a good design.

The game desperately needs not new features, but a balance rework. The basic difficulty has long since ceased to be a problem to the old players, so you can lower it a bit for the new players without completely robbing them of feats. The extortions and encounter frequencies are hilariously high on 100% for how hard it is for a new player to figure out a way to make money with so many things they could do.

The rewards for events need a rework that makes payouts more reasonable for their time investment. More areas and activities should be locked from the start and unlock later to avoid overwhelming players so much, it's worse than coming back to WoW right now.

And there definitely needs to be a tiny bit more hand-holding at the start to lead a new player to a way of making enough money to stay afloat and have the time to explore and experiment.

Degrees of Lewdity is a game that already has all the pieces required to make it a great game and even more, they are just put together wrong, ending up in the game's difficulty coming not from genuine complexity of it mechanics, but from pure unadulterated bullshit.

On a standard playthrough, yeah, it does take time, though I am pretty sure if you take the promiscuous route you can hit a 100% for your Science Fair project in a matter of a couple in-game days, not weeks. Granted, min-maxing Promiscuity isn't exactly thrilling game play, and will still take you awhile to accomplish in real time.

Did people forget about the Penis measuring for science fair or the mushroom collecting too? :KEK: :KEK: :KEK: :KEK:
The first one won't even take weeks, just keep looking for volunteers the beach and it won't even take more than 3 days to reach 10.

Think getting screwed by RNG ain't bad enough? One combat encounter is all you need to go into a downward spiral.
Then we have the kindest person Bailey to ask you for rent as an icing on top.

Rule no. 1 in this game, if something looks good, you're gon' get screwed later if you did fall for it.
That 5000 payout ain't sh- once the Principal starts the blackmail scenario on you.
Go spam the houses, ask for work until you get 500 and buy an ID for the bar, start working there instead.
And there you go, all that rent that needs up to 4k per week? Vanished, non-existent problem now.

Will that take months? F- no.
Reject the first time Bailey asks you for rent and beat 'em with your free spray, those two weeks alone should give you way more than enough time to earn 500...

Still waiting for combat rework...
I don't care anymore about new content or fixing sh- 'cause everything I've done since the early versions still work today, in fact it works even better since there are way too many things that can help you now instead of the atrociously hellish difficulty in early versions.

You get abused early 'cause you don't know sh- at the start, you start learning sh-, you then slowly adapt and get better over time.
Then you'll finally start abusing those who wronged you. That's the progression of this game.

When doing virgin runs, the mushroom is the one I try to go for. Although there's some RNG, with good enough athletics and sturdy clothes, one can usually find one or two mushrooms every two or three days of safely searching deep forest (going there after school with the other kids is probably best that early in the game).

Other points are so valid. I learned the game basics simply by playing bratty, large physique with maxed athletics and then ventured into the challenge of Tiny unsocial nerd to see the other aspects.

Deep forest? You can go to the first few tiles and spam search on that area too.
Idk if deeper = more likely to appear but that's what I've been doing since.

Still prefer using normal / tiny body types 'cause sadism is just too broken when paired with fangs.
In early versions, playing tiny is like playing as an amputee character, you can't fight back at all unless you have extra sprays.

Yep, tiny body is basically very hard mode, I remember it being promised to have few advantages (like slipping through holes that would usually get you truck) but at least for now I have yet to see it.
I believe wolf mushrooms start appearing at least two steps further than the meditation spot near the lake.

I should post here more, rather than just lurk, if only to let people know that development is ongoing. I'm active on my blog and elsewhere, though that's probably less visible to people than it feels to me.

Development is going well. Like anomajou says, PurityGuy has taken over management of the repo. He's much better at it than I, and it's a lot of work. I'll push my changes to the dev branch shortly before the sneaky update, which should hopefully be soonish. There are some key scenes I need to write still. It'll indeed add a new class to school.

As for the game being a mess balance-wise, I basically agree. I'm happy for the game to be hard for new players, as long as it's engaging rather than frustrating, but there need to be more ways for veterans to push the limits. Managing trauma becomes too much of a non-issue once you know the ins and outs, and the figures for the various money sources need adjusting as well. Though I tend to add consequences, rather than nerf things.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's very helpful.

Bless.

Given some of the complaints I've seen, I think some new players find the hard difficulty more on the frustrating part.
My bias wants me to say Skill Issue and Git Gud but yeah, understandable. :KEK: :KEK: :KEK: :KEK:

I don't think you need to rush wolfshrooms specifically but it helps more, you can find the other mushrooms first.
Heck, even the wiki says it can be found near the literal entrance.

And at the same time, the science fair has a lot of days before it starts so it should give you enough time to level that History stat to unlock the fastest way to go deep and out in the forst.

i got a idea for a new feat or 4 and feat booster
moldable - have at least 2 complete (dog, cat, cow, fox, harpy)animal transformations for 30 days each
the beast within - have all complete animal transformation for at least 30 day each
the morning star- have the angel transformation for 60 day
the fallen star - go from angel to devil within 7 days
daily animal points -unlock by the beast within - 2 levels of it, 1 level prevents transformation decay for 1 transformation of your choice and level 2 grants 1 point per day for 1 transformation of your choice

Brudda, just let us keep a permanent TF at this point and if we keep it maxed for X amount of days, we can just manually remove or bring it back.

Then we go grind for the next TFs again 'cause daily decay's a f-ing hassle.
