Who do you define as main characters? Basically consider, the closer the relationship with the MC, the slower the burn (though, as always, there may be some exceptions).
Each "full" update (v0.5, v0.6, etc) focuses on supporting characters (voted upon who gets the content by subscribers) - last one was Sabrina, next one is Brenda. Each "half" update focuses on the family of the MC. Leslie will have some sort of content in every update but Leslie won't have a full sex scene with the MC until around v0.10 (#8,708).

Isn't, in some way, part of the appeal of these games that long lasting update cycle games? Feels like it not only adds longevity to the time you play but keeps you a bit more invested in a way.

I don't know the details of that dev's issues, but I would guess no - I overworked my drawing arm in early Oct and lost a week to rest and some more time to working at half speed while trying to recover. I'm in 2x week physical therapy for it and while it's not 100% I am working full time again. I can't overwork it and try to make up the time I lost or I risk re-injuring and losing even more time so as much as it annoys me to do so I'm working at a steady, hopefully stable pace.
There is the potential of update pace picking up with additions to the team but that has yet to be seen

Not saying that you should stop drawing, but do you have some other guys to help you with the art? background, npcs, some of those could be done by other artist, or even sketches/concepts of scenes
Not even saying it because it will speed up updates, i say it for your physical and mental health, to not feel overworked and not have physical pain for the overwork
