Not me getting excited to see a beautiful, realistically proportioned Black woman as a potential love interest only to find out that it seems like the dev is going to push the relationship with the eldest daughter onto usssssssssssss
*Sorry, this is about to be long*
It's a good/interesting story, but I find something fundamentally wrong with a choices game pigeon-holing the player into a relationship. Violet is cool or whatever, but 1. that relationship is moving way too fast and 2. it would be nice to not HAVE to return her feelings. I acknowledge that MC can choose NOT to say he loves her back, but given his inner dialogue, it's essentially decided for us that he loves her, even if he doesn't say it back. Following that beach sex scene, he says something along the lines of, "We didn't have sex, we made love. Our souls connected" or whatever the fuck he said... which then caused me to wonder wtf was the point of giving me the choice of how MC responded to Violet's love confession if, five seconds later, his inner dialogue was going to negate my decision if I chose not to anyway??
Circling back to what I first wrote in this post, because this is what's really really on my mind: I'm
kind of. very frustrated with how Bella has been handled throughout the story. Given her early introduction, the inner dialogue of MC recognizing that she's not a little kid anymore (aka he finds her attractive), and the revelation (thanks to Jeff) that Bella has always had feelings for MC, Bella was
easily primed to be a main love interest, if not
the main love interest,
and yet... Imagine my surprise when I realized that it's practically impossible to pursue any other woman than *gasp* yet another white woman (and yeah, idk who needs to read this, but Violet is absolutely a white woman). To add insult to injury, by the end of the story so far, Bella's been reduced to a side character (that has very little screen time because she's "in hiding") who has decided that she loves MC
sooooo much that she will absolutely settle for just a piece of him, no matter how small of a piece it is. I was really excited to see a Black woman being represented in a VN. For whatever reason, like many other things, we're often not present, but honestly... Seeing the treatment of Bella's character thus far almost feels worse than just not seeing Black women at all. At this point, as Bella's written, she's basically fighting for scraps when it comes to her love life because she's been about MC and she's still about MC, and like, as a Black woman, I just feel like we deserve to be the center of a fucking story too. I'm hoping that Bella's character will be treated better in the future because during the last scene, when Violet asks about her, his inner dialogue says he's feeling confused about what's going on with her at the moment, but given how much Violet has been thrust upon us as the one MC 'loves', I'm not feeling optimistic.
Also... I just feel like I have to say this... MC's complete lack of self-control when it comes to sex is... a lot. HE ACTS LIKE A BOY GOING THROUGH PUBERTY. EVERY TIME HE SEES SOME ASS OR TITTIES, HIS DICK GETS HARD AND HE WANTS TO HUMP SOMEONE... AND HE ACCEPTS PRACTICALLY EVERY PUSSY THROWN HIS WAY AND IS CONSTANTLY FUCKING WITHOUT CONDOMS AND CUMMING INSIDE OF BITCHES.
STDS. PREGNANCY. To say the least. I'm assuming part of that is because this is an adult game so dev wants to make sure the sex scenes are plentiful, but holy fucking shit...
BUT with all that being said, as I said earlier, the concept of the story is interesting and I generally enjoyed playing. Even with my above frustrations, I played through it and want to know what happens next/how it will end so I'll be waiting for updates... Hopefully some of the above commentary can serve as food for thought as dev proceeds.... maybe?
