No I guess not (no one can say that with certanity) the rework is already ongoing since a few chapters, so no, you just miss the new renders (because that only is replaced).
Not so certain about the tunning of the Main menu though.
They said there is a big chance we would have to restart our saves just because of the move to the newest Ren'Py version alone but that they would try to make sure old saves still worked.
The reworked code will probably add to the probability that we will have to restart but by the looks of the new renders/rerenders it would have been worth to just play it from the start again anyway.

Me too, especially the case for v0.17, as so many of the early quests and scenes have been remodelled/reworked. One would be quite remiss to not play through from the beginning as one would miss out on a TON of reworked content from the early game.

Noo... on the contrary: I hate sadists and she is one of them. I can only be a sadist towards people who tortures other people when they don't really deserve it. I believe in punishment but it has to be proportional to the crime that was committed and she takes their eyes out and torches them with a flame thrower for just attempting to do crimes and not actually committing them. Well in some respects, the MC (Zaton) is seen as somewhat of a fatherly figure to the Queen, right? So, the more of a relationship she builds with Zaton, the more she will begin to see some of the errors of her ways/methods in leadership and become a more well-balanced leader by overseeing Zaton as a sort of "mentor-like" figure. I do agree with the notion that in some cases, the Queen's rhetoric and/or punishments might be seen as too "heavy-handed" or "unstable" in its approach or execution. Senseless brutality so to speak. But we also need to understand her circumstances and how she is still maturing as a leader.
So basically it is too soon to tell. The dude that the Queen got rid of wasn't exactly a saint either, so I'd say he got his just desserts.
I mean, what would you really expect in a post-apocalyptic society? Morals and values just aren't the same as they are in contemporary society. Hence, the style of leadership can very well be "medievalistic" in nature.

Over the top punishments in your eyes, and by current RL standards of crime and 'appropriate' punishment, are Not the standards used in that part of the world, post apocalypse.
In RL medieval history, a harsh punishment - drawing and quartering someone - was deemed 'reasonable' for those times.
Royalty used it for addressing treason and - add in hanging first, then drawing and quartering - to set the boundaries of acceptable behavior so their society clearly understood what was acceptable and what was not.
There is a difference between a sadist and being ruthless.
IMO - the queen is being ruthless because she feels like this is the only way forward.
I see the MC and Shani as having the ability to not just have sexy time with the queen but to give her valued counselors who are not going to try to dethrone her.
IMO - as the queen grows more comfortable and secure in the support of the MC and Shani (And her kingdom becomes more secure), she can afford to be more lenient in terms of the punishment of many crimes.
We'll have to see more of the story to see if this proves to be true/how this plays out.

Maybe you are right; maybe 'appropriate' punishment, were not the standards used in that post apocalyptic world and she was just trying to be ruthless and not a real sadist because she needed to set an example for criminals but I still think that she is both: a ruthless sadist who enjoys inflicting pain on people, that's what I saw when I saw Shani's face and how she reacted and how she looked like she didn't approved of the Queen's acts of punishment and I empathized with her.
