Yeah, its meant as a soft release for beta testing pre-release and bug fixing, yea a lot of devs follow a similar Q&A process for pretesting release.

Yes, think they said things are missing, you are going to want to start a new game (even baring if you saves work due to all the code changes) due to all the reworked content, in fact they HIGHLY HIGHLY (doubly) recommend to start a new game.

That is why a save file is included for folks.
