Can't thank you enough. Something that in-game walkthroughs don't allow for is to see the multiple paths laid out before you, when choices have consequences later in the game. Useful as those can be, these old-fashioned spoilers are unbeatable to allow for planning ahead and picking choices that matter in the future.

Which stat, help or self, triggers that oucome, and what else depends on Shani's stats? The PDF walkthrough isn't clear on that. It's good to know how you're influencing her, but it would be best to know how it plays out in the future. I'm all for reinforcing Shani's self confidence, but if that's what makes her kill other characters and close parts of the story, then I'd rather avoid it.
I'm playing with URM and will probably be able to see it in the conditions of future interactions, but knowing in advance could save me a reload. Thanks!

Take it like this: "Self "stat is gained when you teach or tell her to be selfish and not give a fuck about others and "Help" stat you teach her to be a good girl, helping others and always put other needs before hers ( if you indeed use URM you should have seen those multiples times in her dialogues). Anyway, basicly either being a bit of an asshole or some kind of a hero. It has nothing to do with her confidence. So for her to spare bad guys and not kill anyone you have to raise the "Help" stat.
Imo the self stat is useless.... Shani deserve to be a good girl ^^ /s
edit ps: There are no other stats that influence her actions/personality as far i can remember.

Last I played this game it wasn't even on Steam. This is one gem that I don't mind replaying from the beginning. Glad to see it is so polished now.

there is a branch where Shani can become the queens lover, I suppose that it is because of the abundant lesbian content which in a wider sense is "homosexual" content which is banned there.

Thank you, that makes it quite clear. Since the game has a decent amount of sharing content, I wondered if "self" might be a way for players to "corrupt" shani into future netorare. Personally I wouldn't go that way, but wouldn't mind if that were the case, it would actually be a well written way to get there without seeming like the player was pushing for it. If it were the case, considering sensitivities, a warning might be in order, at some point. In any case, thanks for clearing it out, I'll play "good Shani" myself, not a fan of asshole characters.
I don't see the help/self as a good/bad choice. I see it as a save 10 people and die heroicly or save only 5 but survive.

I didn"t say it's a good vs bad/evil choice tho, even if a lot of people would say that being selfless, kind and caring is the "good" choice, witch i don't necessarily agree with (in a game that is). What i meant is Shani being/becoming good vs being not so good/not the nicest person anyway. (for common standards, being extremely selfish is perceive as not being a good person)
And for me the apex of the "self" stat would look more like: "Save no one unless it benefit you and it's not too much of an hassle". Your "save only 5 but survive " view of it look more like a mix of both stats, middle ground thing (could even be argued that it would be more align near the "help" side imo). But i don't know if the dev is planning for players to balance those stats as much as possible, and to have a special path for it, doesn’t seems like it so far.
if i remember correctly (and it's the same for all the other stats) the game always pick you higher one so spreading/mixing stats doesn’t work and is useless but i could be wrong.

Technically, no, but there is girl on girl action, so that probably counts. Every girl in the game is at most bissexual.
Maybe if Reyna can be searched for and rescued later on, she can get something back.
