The game is also a bit buggy.
It has a very weird stat system (that can influence thing beyond the players control) and it's a bit too heavy on the maledom with no alternative options.
That's why isn't more popular. Also you'd think the harem crowd would go ape shit for this game but they haven't.

IMHO if the dev would remove that weird stat thing he's doing and give the player more options choice wise and on how to treat the girls it would be more successful.

true the stats system KK put in add a RPG mechanic/angle to the game which i believe is a reason the larger harem community isn't jumping at this, along with the story/world building "info dumps" that is a other recurring reason some dislike this VN.

Not so much for the Story, but because a bunch of the female characters had their appearances drastically change afterwards, and in my very subjective opinion, almost every one of those changes made them look considerably worse. So I just kind of stopped playing the game and moved onto something new because the LI's I'd been getting attached to up to that point were just no longer interesting.

Nothing wrong with this i only want to point out that some these changes are Story related.
Lola losing weight etc. because she's scheduled to go the island herself and they need to have a certain conditions met to go there.
Debby went trough the company's cosmetic genetic modifications.

Mina her new haircut does fit perfectly though.

Personally i think a lot of the problem is the incredibly generic name combined with the vague/generic description leading people to think this is just one of a million landlady/roommate games. At least that was the case for me before I finally caved and gave this a shot.

Probably too late for a rebrand tho...

I really like this game but the current rating of 4.4 seems about right to me. It's a game thats good but not for everyone.

If you aren't into maledom, giant tits and tats there isn't really much here for you.

I think most folks here have shared reasons that are all part of the factors why this game is not as popular as it should be - 4.4 stars is actually pretty high by F95 standards, so yes interest in this game doesn't really fit the ratings.

Another major reason I just want to add is the unique art style - it has a heavy emphasis on sculpted body, muscles and veins even. I believe this is what truly makes DOF unique (I have not seen a similar art style for a HS game) but unfortunately also turns off quite a big audience.

I would imagine those who like kawaii characters, into realism and / or like their LIs sweet and demure looking will probably not even want to touch this. For e.g. Mina's character and model sure does not fit the typical hentai game maid caricature, neither does Lisa fit the usual childhood friend in AVNs and not to mention Lilith, a young innocent vestal virgin with the body of an Olympic athlete...
