I would have liked to have enjoyed this game more... But it has some problems...

For a game that has the premise of being a detective story, there aren't many things to research in the cases. Yes, I know it's a H GAME, and that the objective is very much the detective part.... But even so, I thought it could be something different.

As far as the H game goes, there's the problem that it takes a lot of masturbation to unlock the scenes, which makes the game very repetitive and there's also the fact that the game forgets to explain its own mechanics... I finished it without knowing how to do the lockpick.

As for the scenes, I liked almost all of them, and most of them are very much to my taste. Apart from the urine scenes.

Overall, it was a good game, but it lacked polish, especially in the mechanics.

I love the game (hence my name) but I don't think that the devs made this into an good game.
    a) there are far to few cases and some of them don't need an detective.
    b) the fights are just boring.
    c) to trigger most of the H-events (other than the lost-rape one) you must do the same thing over and over again (not a quest...I mean masturbation).

It's sad, this is one of the few games with an NOT big breasted monster....alas...the game is still boring.

Don't understand how this has such a high rating.

Game is decidedly average in basically all aspects.

Interesting premise that doesn't get execute well past the introduction. Aesthetics of the map are different to most RPG maker games and that's kinda cool I guess, but not enough ot make the game worth playing.

Scenes get repetitive very quickly, and most of them are just 2-3 pics with meh writing. Combat is simply not fun - made me wish for an autowin mechanic because its simply a time sink with no interesting mechanics.

There are far better games to spend your time on.

More Kagura slop. The map is uninspired. The controls are not explained anywhere. HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO FIGURE OUT YOU CAN CYCLE QUESTS WITH V???? Have these guys not heard of MENUS??

Personally not a fan of the MC. While there is a lot of content, you have to purposely be defeating in combat for any of it to show up which is not explained anywhere. I played through half of the game's content before realizing that I had to lose reason before being able to see the actual cgs. Usually corruption occurs naturally, while here you have to go out of your way in the most asinine way to make it possible. I think this is the first game where I've accidentally been cucked into a virgin playthrough.

The writing is your average convoluted japanese slop. They can't write a storyline that makes sense to save their lives. Every character is absolutely paper thin. When the narrative finally presents a moment for character development apart from the MC becoming a massive slut, the game plays it off as a joke.

    Other Bullshit:
    1. The menu design seems to have been put together in 5 seconds.
    2. There is no quest design. You do not feel like a detective. 3/4 of the quests are just fetch quests with optional lewd events. The other 1/4 have challenges that involve moving carefully or just barely rubbing two neurons together.
    3. To actually see the map, you need to activate an item in your inventory. Even then its just blank boxes with words in it.
    4. You can't load from inside the game, you have to quit from the main menu.
    5. The map is absolutely empty and 1/2 of it is just copy paste. It would be nice to know where everything is with an interactive map, but ui design is simply beyond their skill set.
    6. The combat system is stupidly easy. Once you learn the healing skill, you are pretty much invincible.
    7. The powerfist and grapple rope are just stupid. There is no need for the power fist if you know how to heal. The grapple rope is just some tedious nonsense to grab a chest with materials that you can use to improve the grapple rope.
    8. Interspersed with night vision sewer sections to increase the runtime

Way too hyped for what it was, from the reviews I would expect a extremely high quality game, it is by porn standards, but it feels like the same as usual, 5 jpg variants per sex scenes and the amount of cgs felt lower in this game+no group sex, it's not that this game is good is that the rest of the porn games are so bad at satisfying the player, this game gives you the minimum, virgin run and slut run, when you do a slut run FMC enjoys getting used, relatively easy to get h scenes, I want a story when I'm doing a virgin run not when I'm jacking off, running around and putting different costumes for sex scenes is just annoying in other games, and the protagonist is very hot, way better than the basic big boob blonde bitches.

Again, it's not that this game is good it's just the fact that the porn game market is overrun with rape, ntr and annoying things you have to do to get sex scenes when you try getting them all and different routes that make you restart.

Clymenia games always hit. The story is well written and the art is great.

But the best thing about this game has to be Sophie, her appearance and how she is written. Even when fully corrupted, her character doesn't just become a slutty cock loving whore that most female JRPG characters become. She's still the confident, intelligent, and steadfast detective who just so happens to be a nymphomaniac.

Her tomboy/androgynous looks played really well into setting up her character and served well for the setting of the game as well. I feel like there aren't too many tomboy JRPG hentai characters and I felt it was a bold move from Clymenia to make such a character.

Been following Clymenia for a long time now and am hoping the next game is better than Detective Girl and Liz.

Good corruption game with a cute girl.
Can't give full points. It would mean that this game is without fail..but nothing is without. The 2 biggest failures are the lack of interesting quests and the much too easy fighting part.

Reading through the reviews I see many didn't like how "unrealistically fast" the corruption element in this game is but honestly the low-key nature of the corruption is one of my favorite things about this game. For starters, Sophie isn't that embarrassed by sexual matters to begin with; even while still a virgin she doesn't get flustered easily like the typical shy, feminine hentai heroine.

My favorite thing about this game is that the female lead has a strong, consistent personality that shows through. Sophie has a pretty stereotypically masculine personality. She is composed, intelligent, methodical, and straightforward. And, very rarely for a female hentai protagonist in a game with a "corruption meter", Sophie doesn't fall into self-loathing or lose her mind (except for in one 'bad ending').

Even after her 'reason' attribute plummets, Sophie's personality doesn't actually change very much at all. She's still the same smart, self-assured detective she was at the beginning of the game, just one who's realized she is a nymphomaniac masochist. Her relative lack of shame and angst is refreshing and only serves to make her more endearing, at least to me.

Minor quibbles? Despite having a very androgynous appearance in her default outfit, the game does surprisingly little with the "cross-dressing" aspect. Everyone who interacts with Sophie seems to recognize she's a girl right away. That's probably realistic if they're hearing her talk, but some more 'mistaken for a boy' scenes besides just the bathhouse scene would've been nice. Also, there is a lot of teasing about pregnancy risk in the dialogue with Sophie frequently fretting over it, but nothing ever comes of it, I think a lot of us would've liked to at least see a bad ending slide where Sophie is knocked up.

Favorite moment? The very rare scenario of a hentai game heroine cuckolding another woman. One of the cases involves a girl who thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her. When it's investigated it turns out the girl that the boyfriend was secretly meeting with is his sister. At which point Sophie thinks "Oh, this guy is actually really hot...*, puts the moves on him, and ends up fucking him all night. Meaning that the original girl created infidelity where there was none by hiring a detective that looked like a really serious, no-nonsense tomboy, but actually turned out to be a dirty little slut who jumped her man's bones at the first opportunity.

Final note: I haven't seen much mention of this but I feel llike someone looking at this game could easily assume it's going to be a lesbian/yuri oriented thing, as is common in games with a "cross-dressing" female protagonist. Those who make this assumption will be sorely disappointed. Sophie is straight and all her scenes are with men. The sexual content in this game is 100% hetero with no girl-on-girl, not even a token scene with the blonde cat burglar lady.

I've played around 50% of all of the games on this site, and I still firmly believe this is one of the best. Fantastic.

The art is perfection, the writing is above average, and the scenes and scenarios are FANTASTIC. I wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Full 5 stars, the writing is great, the art is amazing, and the gameplay is engaging but not tedious. Many other corruption games tend to fall under the category of either VN where you just collect scenes, or they bog everything down in a ton of unnecessary game mechanics. But Detective Girl feels like a proper game that also happens to have a lot of good NSFW content. It's been a while since I played it last, but I seem to recall that I just started to enjoy the game for the game itself even though the NSFW was very good.

I believe I remember the only thing that was a little frustrating about the game was that some of the gameplay concepts seemed a little unclear at the start; but that also may have just been me not paying close enough attention.

Clymenia once again proving they on top of the JRPG hentai genre.

Detective girl strays from their usual story formula and instead has you play as a tomboy detective. With your choices you can corrupt Sophie and cue the hentai. This comes from battle defeats and cases you'll take (side quests) so with the gameplay it ties into the setting written.
More into the game, all of the annoying problems of JRPG are cut. There's minimal grinding, lots of QOL features and it doesn't take much time to get into the story or scenes.

4/5, was hoping for more scene variance, but besides that solid overall.

Overall it's a good game, but not at good as other Clymenia games. I completed most of the game in 4-5 hours, but I have not chosen which ending I want to do. Even though I have not finished, I have certainly played enough to determine how I feel about the game.

The story is pretty interesting and I love the steampunk setting, it's not too common in H-games. Though I have not finished the game, I still like the main story quests, they have creative objectives and it's actually fun, which is a rarity for a lot of RPGM games which can be quite generic.

The character art is good, even though I do prefer more busty MCs, I don't really mind Sophie's lack of assets. The CGs are also good, though they do tend to be repeated just with dialogue changes. The scenes are also pretty easy to obtain, especially as there is a gallery/rec room which tells you how to get each scene. I am still a bit iffy in general about scenes you unlock by losing battles because on one hand, i am compelled to get every scene, but on the other I don't want to lose on purpose, and the combat in this game is a bit too easy for there to be any challenge.

In terms of combat, I like the map of the slums and that you dont have to fight everyone if you dont want to. The combat itself is simple, which is honestly fine, a lot of RPGMs have complex and intricate combat systems which can be too overwhelming. In this game, you either punch, punch with your steam fist, or heal. Then there's also the pre-combat interaction where you can sneak attack or seduce them or talk to them . I also like that you can use the hook to get chests in the slums and then you can upgrade your gear after.

In terms of lewdity, the most depraved stuff is probably a few sleep sex scenes and being a public urinal.

My biggest gripe with this game is how easy/unrealistic it is for Sophie to become corrupted so quickly. This is probably the most important aspects in corruption games, and it is often the most difficult to get right - the corruption of the innocent, naive girl into a slut. In this game, it feels too quick and easy. It starts off quite well, it took me maybe 2-3 hours to get Sophie down a level, then it's a sharp drop into full on slut. I feel like the corruption was not as well done compared to previous Clymenia games.

Another big issue is that there is no quest tab, so it's quite had to keep trakc of which quests you have to do.

Despite those two things, the game is still well-polished. I encountered no bugs and the game was still fun. Overall, I would say this is a B-tier game and I would still recommend it. It's still a good game after all.

    Really loved this game!
Things I loved: Different skills and upgrade system, storyline, artwork, the sexy scenes.

Things I disliked: You never get to meet her dad or fuck him lol, I wish they developed the combat system more, having sex with enemies doesn't defeat them or give you exp/items, I wish the cat girl had a bigger role-I loved her character design so much its shame she didn't get more of a spotlight, the game needed a costume system.

I am just being picky though. Its a good lewd game.

i extremly enjoying this game, the story is engaging and the combat for me is actually unique like (for mobs) if you want to avoid fighting and cant make a detour you can using talk jutsu or just have a sex with them....
another thing that i like is the recollection room have hints to unlock those scenes it made easier to unlock it.
And i like The ending too, like how much sophie screw around she still become successful detective

the only downside is there's too little content, its just too pity that this game actually can be developed more....

The dev made a good job and it made me after finishing this actually buy a copy from steam to support this good dev

Far too grindy on a tiny map with little content both exploration and combat wise. A shame since the premise is great and the writing is decent. With a bit of polish the game has great potential.

The most annoying thing is having to run around to recharge energy in order to use exploration abilities. There is no skill or thought behind it, just mandatory legwork.

Clymenia made the game and they make some of the better stuff that is sent out. Game has best tomboy Nao- I mean Sophie and the scenes are pretty hot. The descent of Sophie becoming more and more lewd is very nice to see especially with the scenes becoming more depraved. The story and endings are fun but kind of rests on good to ok but the real content is in the side quests. The side quests usually have arcs linked to how lewd you are at the time or what choices/routes you choose to go down. Its pretty fun and hot so I don't think anyone would really regret giving the game a try.

    Excellent Art 5/5
    Excellent Story Flow 5/5
Erotica as it should be 5/5

This is all I look for in a game. It was an adventurous, erotic story line with excellent art. Thank you Devs for making this beautiful game.

Genuinely one of the best H-games out there. Interesting concept, beautiful art, and a cute tomboy protag.

Here is a brief rundown of the game. Most of the erotic content is formulated around corruption or assault. You can finish the game as a virgin heroine and still see some H-scenes but obviously you will not see everything and require a second play through. There IS actual interesting gameplay and it is not exceedingly easy. I would recommend this game to anyone and it is better than 99.9% of RPGM games in general.

Might be a bit grindy at parts BUT not enought to disuade others from playing it. The side characters in the game have a criminally low amount of content, though hopefully you are here for the cute tomboy.

It is probably 4 hours of gameplay for a single route and less if you know what you are doing and are speedrunning.

Don't skip this gem, give it a try, and throw some money at Clymenia if you can.

this is one of the best h-games there is. I highly recomend playing it the story is great, the h-scenes are good and the gameplay is smooth. And the best thing is that there is a tomboy in the game what more can a person want.

    IndriIndri

There are a lot of reviews of this game already so I doubt I can say more than has already been said, but I want to put my words out there anyway.

I'm quite torn on this game because on the one hand, it has a really cool setting with a neat concept and a endearing main character with beautiful art. On the other hand, the "Corruption" is not well done in my opinion and the games main focus, being a detective, is wasted and combat is rather easy.

    The Positives:

    • The custom assets for the world and the music are great. It tries to set itself apart from just a standard RPGM game and I appreciate that.

    • Sophie as a character is great and I like her a lot during her investigations and seeing how she solves numerous different problems with her thought processes.

    • Despite numerous quests active at once, the game does a good job of making sure you know where to go and makes the city layout easy to understand and also has a map you can check as an item. I never felt "lost" (maybe at one point in the sewers but you can upgrade the night vision goggles to solve that) and it was fun seeing all the houses open up as requests came in and got solved.

    • The art is really high quality and I love the design of Sophie, Amelia and the Phantom Thief. They are pretty unique and the steampunk aesthetic works really well for their costumes.

    • H events are pretty decent. You'll notice some reused CGs but I think there are a decent enough variety to not get reptitive

    • I enjoyed the District design in rewarding exploration and the verticality using the Wire Gun to find loot.

    • The ability to explore both routes on the same save file was a nice surprise as it lets you go back to before the route split meaning you don't have to just reload the save file to see both endings. Also full gallery unlock is always good.

    • Tomboys are cute

    The Negatives

    • The "Corruption" really didn't feel like corruption to me. All of it is based on the Reason stat which just doesn't really work because she will go from a intelligent tomboy detective who wants to make a name for herself and do good for the city into a sex craved slut without a satisfying chain of events to make it an enjoyable corruption.

They felt more like random regular sex events and the pacing on her loss of reason did not do it for me. While some events are only accessible at lower reason, they are mostly self contained and you never really get to see Sophies mindset change but more just events where she will be more open about it and then masochistic slut.

Each event loses a portion of reason but there is never any events between reason loss that might justify her new mindset, and it's more just she exposured herself a couple times and got raped once but now reason is below 75 so guess she's up for fucking. Also, she can lose her reason constantly by just masturbating over and over. I didn't test it but I assume you can just masturbate constantly and go straight to 0 without even seeing a dick.

    • The game massively underutilises it's Skill system for the Police Route. You are presented 6 skills with 3 levels each and assume levelling them will be important, but I only remember 2 side quests in total where these skills actually mattered.

One is you could use Eloquence or Allure to get an item easier in a side quest, and another was Lockpicking a door (but you could find the key anyway). Otherwise, I don't remember another time while playing where the skills mattered for investigation, or at least whether having a skill levelled actually made an impact on the outcome.

I still have no clue what "Observation 2" actually does and there are no other choices that I can remember that had me use skills to get a better outcome for the quests. I was expecting maybe learning Medicine would help me adminster an injured person and save their life, or Espionage would improve my chances of sneaking and learning some important info. The main use of skills is for the Gang Route and the combat, which is a real shame. I know a few events have alternate scenarios if your reason is low, but playing the game doing all side quests and not grinding for reason loss I did not encounter them until unlocking the gallery.

    • 90% of the requests for the police route are just "talk to dude, interact with things, talk again to solve the issue". There are a few times where you do have some control, such as the Locked Chest quest or the Museum Attack, but for the most part you just go in and solve the issue without much thought. I was hoping this game would be focused on its detective work and have some requirement on the player to memorise or think about the case and have different outcomes for quests based on your input, but I only failed 1 quest in the entire game and it was intentional. While I do like the actual interactions Sophie has with the requests she gets, the actual player detective work is just not there.

    • You can trviliase combat by just focusing upgrades entirely on the Gauntlet and buying the Catridge equipment for more SP. When the entire Gang Route is focused on combat, it doesn't really do a lot with it. Your only real options are attack or Super Punch with the steam powered gauntlet. The only times I got defeated was intentionally for the CGs, but otherwise I never really struggled with combat or had to think about it. Even the final boss of the Gang Route I just punched away and they died. Felt like more could have been done with it, although I do like the options to avoid combat by talking or seducing them

    • Amelia (factory girl) in particular is criminally forgotten about. She appears in the beginning to give you the wire gun and gauntlet, and then for the entire rest of the game sits in her factory with the same dialogue about the debt being paid off and solely exists to give you upgrades. The only time she actually does anything is at the very end of the Gang Route and even then her 2 CGs go from 0 to 100 real quick. For such an important friend to Sophie she basically doesn't exist for most of the game. What a shame cause she has such a nice design.

    • No alternate costume for Sophie. At 0 reason I wanted at least the choice to have her wear something that exposured a little more skin but she keeps the same outfit the entire game besides the Long Hair Disguise for one series of events, and two other costumes that are very temporary.

I give this game a lot of negative points but I still enjoyed it and I appreciate both the setting and the main character. Going around watching Sophie solve cases and punching the shit out of Gansters kept me entertained at least to see both endings, plus a few events beyond that. Took me 15 hours to fully explore the game, but I'm pretty sure you can get an ending in 4-5 hours or less if you skip some side quests.

If you do play this though, upgrade Night Vision to 2 ASAP. The sewers are a nightmare to navigate without the vision upgrade.

For the Gang portion of the game, get Lockpicking 2 (in the Gang Hideout) and Medicine 1 (from any plague doctor) when you get the points. Helps a lot, as a lot of loot is locked behind lockpicking and being able to heal makes it much easier to go through lots of enemies.
