Well, I won't delay this any longer. One reminder though, this is just a cosmetic update, there is no new content yet. A big thank you to Whale_Shark for his advice, I used his game as a model to make the redesign here.

Version 0.16

Same bear, different fur Update

Features:

• Changed the font and size of the text used in the game. Backgrounds added for every screen on the game and the color scheme, sidebar, and dialog boxes were changed as well
• More secondary characters gained their own portraits
• Wade's character was rewritten, now it gains friendship points just like Mack or Dalton. You can meet him for the first time on the convenience store on the mall OR the cave gym. His foursome scene was moved to a new random encounter at the mall with him, and now depends on your friendship. This also applies to the normal sex scene at the store. He also have a chance to help you train on the gym. On the store, you can chat with him to gain friendship points
• Roy and garrett now remember meeting you at the demo. If you meet one the other will not know you until you meet him on the first day of the gym
• Added a complete new sex scene with Tom Callister on JCS first day mission, with a lower muscle requirement (15 muscle) for him to notice you
• Lowered the energy costs of the activities and jobs on JCS
• Added 20 more portraits to the character creator

Bug Fixes

• Corrected neutral dialogs when having sex with Roy
• Corrected some typos (and probably added some as well....my bad english seems to have a life on its own)
• Disabled some comments on NPCs after sex if you have high sex skill stats
• Changed the wording of the work warning
• Time now moves when you take a shower on JCS (15 minutes) and have sex on the restrrom of the mall (30 minutes)

I hope you like it, now I will follow up with the next part of the gym (Fighting training partners, the tournament and sex scenes) and begin to plan the JCS level 2.

It feels more modern. Many recent HTML games are doing backgrounds and it's nice (not like not having them is bad...). I'm less sure about the orange and rose used for the dialogs : I found them too bright (maybe a darker shade).

Wade is better like that. If you encounter him at the gloryhole, there's no friendship points (just a reminder if you forgot to do it).

It was difficult to reach enough muscle and perversion to have access to the entire scene. And you reach a dead end if you don't have sex with him (cf files).

Changed the wording of the work warning

I'm not sure "reminder" has a place there. It fells too guided like a teacher would do. "Go to work before 9:00" should be enough.

Time now moves when you take a shower on JCS (15 minutes) and have sex on the restrrom of the mall (30 minutes)

Well, I just constated that time don't move when you enter any store (only if you have sex time moves).

The receptionist is still called receptionist after the first day (though we call her Beth when we enter...).
The salesmen of Fur Tech Store and Bear's Den Clothing Store don't have a name yet. Hope they will have one like in the other stores.

2 errors during the challenge with Brian (cf files). There are still 2 links at the end when we have sex with Brian (cf files). I found a dead end and a broken image with Louie (cf files). Sometimes when you choose to have the sex scene, there's still a link to skip it (sex scene with Roy and sex scene with the mall security guard cf files). Some people are called NPC (Eddie in the sex scene with Roy (cf files) and another one at JCS). Clay is called Mike in one scene or I misunderstood who is on the phone (cf files).

Thank you for the feedback...I have to agree that the orange was a bit too much, and I also see that the backgrounds are too bright..so I'm thinking on toning them down. I was playing around with the colors today and I came up with this:



I think it reads well, isn't it? I'm going to tackle all your other observations and bug reports Oli. I'm going to start darkening the other backgrounds as well. Expect a new version soon. I would upload a hotfix..but since I'm going to rework the backgrounds, the game will have to be reuploaded again fully.

EDIT: I also got rid of the pink on the radio dialogs, now it's a grey one. Maybe it will look too similar to the neutral dialog...but since is not THAT common I think it will be alright.

EDIT2: The gray dialog was too similar to the neutral one...I ended going back to a violet one..but it is a lighter tone that fits better.

Finally, I managed to upload the update.

Update 0.16.a: (not so) Quick hotfix

This update is just fixes to bug reports (thank you, Oliz82 for your detailed feedback) from the last update: same bear, different fur.

Changelog

• Changed the color of the NPCs and radio dialog boxes. Orange and violet were too bright.
• Reworked the fonts used on the dialogs (thanks to Whale_Shark for his tips) to help reading them with the backgrounds.
• The backgrounds were darkened a bit.

Bug Fixes

• Added friendship gain to Wade's gloryhole scene on the mall restroom.
• JCS receptionist Beth, will present herself on the first day, and her dialog box shows her name now.
• Training muscle alone on Bear Cave Gym was giving double gains. Also, corrected the dialog box names on Roy's trio sex scene (Eddie was missing on one).
• Tom's sex scene on JCS first day was costly for starting characters, so the perversion requirements were lowered for that specific encounter (5 for oral sex, 10 for anal sex). Also corrected the dead end when you refuse having sex with him.
• Fixed broken tags at Brian's challenge at JCS.
• Fixed broken sex scene with Louie at Dalton's office and the army of broken images that didn't load.

Nothing special to say about this update. You've fixed what had to be corrected.

Some observations :
Mack Williams' relationship is more difficult to progress (less events and less points). I suppose it will be easier when you add the brothel.

The event at the mall seems too generous for me :
For 1 hour (+2 hours if action), you gain : +attitude +fighting skill -cleanliness
+cleaning skill +muscle skill for 50 energy
or +sex stats +perversion +social skill for 30 energy
or -25$ for 0 energy

For 2 hours, at the gym, you gain : +fighting skills - cleanliness for 40 energy


If by pure bad luck I misclick on one of the link above (usually Amazon) instead of the back arrow, I have this message. I don't know if there's another solution outside shutting down the browser and opening it again (because refreshing doesn't solve anything).

I tried to use the restard button and it seems to be working fine now. The error messages I had previously have disappeared.

Before we get to that, I'll also take a look on the issue with you clicking a link and then reloading the game. Honestly, I can't promise you too much on that, because the game loads a bunch of JS libraries and stuff when you load it first (sometimes if you start too quickly the game it doesn't load some of the libraries. I tried for months to get around that bug...but didn't had any success) ah well...

Now, into more interesting stuff, I started Brawler's Pit last friday. First, it's the bet section. Here you can bet a fixed amount of money (25$) and hope to get a win, obviously. If you bet to the fighter with lower chances, you'll get more money. Here I have a couple of screenshots. The fight will be between the ones you get to know on Garrett's intro.

I had some programming and script issues, mostly due to me being a newbie on twine, JS and Sugarcube, with the added fact that the fights are random between 8 fighters and I had to do them as generic as possible, with the added difficulty of one fighter being a woman, and is a headache when you have to detect the gender on a random script.

But everything is fine, today I finished it and now I'm into garrett's trainings and the partner's trainings. The update still need at least a couple of weeks, but I promise it will be worth it.

Well, it's a surprise since he's overbearing, very friendly and really focused on everything sexual. But it makes more sense if you thought of him like that. Maybe adding a hint beside the characters in the relationship stats (shy, friendly, very friendly, too easily friendly, afraid of love, distrustful...). It's just an idea to prevent a new player to think "Why is it so hard? Is it a bug?".

An update on how things are going: I didn't had the chance to actually sit down on the PC the last couple of days BUT I managed to get all the necessary webm for the sex scenes on the next update (I'm very picky so I have to cut them exactly on the moment I want, and with the minimal size I can get) today I'll start writing again, but I don't expect programming issues at all...so it's all up to me to sit my lazy ass and begin writing.

The date for the next update still stands: expect it on sunday 17, or monday 18th.

While at the gym, clicking "Enter into the Grizzly Cave Brawler's Pit" didn't work and I couldn't go to the next page.

The brawler's Pit will be enabled on the next update ... I forgot again to comment that part of the code, sorry about that.

Guys, I have bad news, I have to push at least a week the initial update date, meaning an approximate release date of October 25th. The reason behind this is the addition of the Battle system. Last monday I finally had an idea on a battle system for this game (I initially discarded it because I couldn't think on a good one on a real porn game) and I've been spending the last two days implementing the battle system. I have the tutorial fight, with garrett implemented (it needs some polish since the plan is to re-use the system from this point forward) which explains, on great detail, how this gonna work. Here is a screenshot of the tutorial fight.

The intention is to have every fight on the tournament on Brawler's pit on this format. I'm actually very excited for this, because I always wanted a battle system for this game but I couldn't come with something that I liked, until this week.

Back to the cave then. I'll keep you posted guys.

Well time to report in. I seriously understimated the scope of this update...but I'm determined to get it done in time. If there is a delay, it will be for testing purposes. I finished the trainings with every character you met in the intro, plus I added a new character: Lazarus Davis, the Gym's owner. A hot but nasty guy who might annoy you during the tournament. I had to modify the fighter's wing first day to introduce him. Also, I had to rebalance the tutorial battle again ... I had an automatic lose condition on the beginning of the battles that was way too harsh to the players..and since this is not dark souls I took that away.

Today I'll begin the first round of the tournament, and I still have to do the sex "rewards" of the tournament...I have a lot to do.

The game isn't launched here officially yet. That's why you don't find it on the games section. Once I finish the current main storyline, JCS, it will be. My current guess, would be december or january.

I mean, I could do it right now, but I feel that the game needs more content, and at least a full storyline. As it is now, the current main storyline is only at 30%. I don't want to publish a half assed 10 min HTML game.

But stay tuned, because we are getting near the deadline. If you have any feedback I would appreciate it, without the feedback of this thread, the game wouldn't be as it is now.

Plus, (I'm assuming) the "latest updates" page over in that section is where the majority of people browse for their games. If you were to put it up there, there's a good chance you'll get more feedback from the influx of people. Just my 2 cents!

Couple things I've noticed (both fairly trivial). 1. Few grammar and punctuation errors here and there. (Missed periods, uncapitalized letters at the start of a sentence etc.) Maybe get a trusted friend to proofread? Or try running your script through a service like grammarly before putting it into twine? Obviously not of the utmost importance though.
2. I have 0 idea how difficult this would be to do and is mayhaps nitpicky but a switch between units of measurements would be nice. I can imagine 6'2 or whatever but reading 1.6 meters and having to try to imagine that? Brain hurty. Pulling out a calculator in the middle of sexy time? Idk lol.

I think Rafster has the right idea. Don't want to blow your load prematurely (so to speak). It will be a much more successful release if there's substantial content for the player at launch. Games that launch too early here tend to end up DOA. There's a ton of dead Patreon pages to prove it.

Just found out this game thru "reform school", and man what an impressive piece of work! Being a bear cultist myself, even the naming are filled with testosterone . The quality is really above average "real porn sandboxies" out there!

The game progression so far is very smooth, nothing feels out of place, the grind is OKish, tho Job progression is a bit too grindy as we start to see repeated events too often. I like you put enough detail into the JCS to make it feels real, but not too real to become a chore!
I love that you align the sex scenes with the media you are using! That's very rare and makes the scenes much more enjoyable! Did I mentioned what a fine selection of the scenes you picked?

Tho I'm not sure about "Cleanliness system", in most games it'll just become an annoying chore which doesn't really offer game-play value. Then if it functions as a trigger for different scenes, then it'll be great if we can achieve a cleanliness level without much grind.
Same goes with the Health (std) system, if would require a tons of work on variant scene between bareback and safe sex to make it a worthwhile system. But I like the injury part, as it adds some weight to if you choose violence.

And I like your approach that when be ambitious, but start small and work on one thing at a time, then expand when said part is done.

I was about to start Reform school on the last update..especially with the new dom path...but I have to focus or I won't be able to finish this update. But I'm gonna play it. Did my game got mentioned there? It's a great honor. I'm gonna tell the dev and thank him on discord later.

The cleanliness system is my poor excuse to make the player use the various showers I scattered around (I have one on home, and other on JCS. I'm gonna add another on the gym) and add some variety on some scenes by making the NPCs commenting about your hygiene...but I'll think on other uses for it.

The health system will be implemented on the future when I add the Mercy hospital...yeah, includes STDs and physical injuries from fights (remember that I'm adding fights on the next update? when I implement the health system fights might have nasty consequences), also hot doctors and male nurses applying various sexy treatments. And a psychologist that is able to alter your attitude.

Keep up with the amazing work, looking forward to the addition of the Brawl pit!

Don't worry about it. Take your time. It's better to have something you're satisfied with and pleasant to discover than releasing something incomplete to please some players. I don't think anybody here mind about it. Just continue making us informed. And take care of yourself.
