@ViperV Been following this for a while and I've always enjoyed it, but I feel like the gameplay has taken a few steps backwards. I'm a fan of challenging games, but this version of the game is straight-up frustrating!

Coins and hearts bounce way too far away to pick up reliably, especially with all the environmental hazards. Spell charging constantly gets interrupted if my cursor crosses a wall. The blue defensive orbs are really difficult to position; instead of popping in on the cursor they seem to pop randomly so they're hard to use strategically and sometimes just waste time by spawning inside a wall and immediately despawning. Reviving costs are too high. Checkpoints are too few. That turret section is pure hell; I die over and over and the run back is just annoying.

The artwork is amazing and the core gameplay is really fun, I just can't help but think the steep difficulty spike is going to turn off a lot of potential players. I consider myself a pretty good gamer but I'm struggling to even finish the first stage.

Now, allow me to share my thoughts about the game...
Having played the previous versions of Divine arms, I would rate this version a 6.5/10. To be honest, the initial versions of the game had SO much potential; the gameplay was solid, and the combat mechanics were really unique. Sadly, this version focuses waaayyy too much on puzzles, and the ones involving "charmed enemies" aren't designed well. Besides that, the story is flat-out boring. More often that not, I found myself skipping all the cringeworthy dialogue I had to deal with.

In the game's current state, it also has a lot of "balancing issues," and its puzzles need A LOT of work. Like I said in my previous post, DON'T play without cheats on. You'll just frustrate yourself.

I would've given this a 6/10, but hey at least the combat's still refined. Plus, if you DO manage to complete 1.95 (by purifying the crystal in level 1), you get an impromptu endless mode (a big area with gankers, red guys, and rapevines), so hey at least there's that.

Props to kreig for doing all of this though. It's really hard to program this type stuff.
If you're reading this kreig, I wish you luck in completing your game, and I hope the storms die out in your area, fellow compatriot :) (don't think I don't know what mahalai actually means)
Thanks! It is specially it's made from the ground up. I want to take the easy way of using tools like game maker or unity, but it's too late to do that now. As for mahalai, the 'evil' version of hers is named: Maharoth. Hahaha

(And thank you for your kind words in the comments, I don't know why there's so much hate as soon as there's a difference between their thing and their neighbour's thing)
So, the key that give me problem to rebind is the Q natively used for quality when I try to transform WASD to ZQSD.
But as I said, no problem if I switch from FR to EN kb.
But it's nice to you to think about the many people that struggle with computers and just know how to launch a game on their desktop, nothing more... :)

There's this flash game that offers a nice way to reconfigure your kb if you want some inspiration, maybe you can contact the creator to share your knowledge :
If he help you with the kb thing, maybe you can give him some tips with optimization, your game is smooth as hell even after 40mn of gameplay while his one slow down rapidly! lol


+1 for the storm thing, when i see the news about that for different parts of the world, it's incredible... our country is so much blessed

Thanks! I had no idea people can easily switch to EN kb's but i guess the people who message me every now and then probably don't know they can switch. As for the patreon post about azerty, im sure you're aware that was just the usual me trolling.

As for the storms, they mellowed down a bit but sadly they're rampaging over Japan atm. It's either them or us most of the time.

Not gonna lie, I was a tad-bit skeptical about 1.95 but ITS GREAT!
The new animations for siggy's attacks are awesome
The new ATTACKS are awesome
the interaction with the game world really makes it seem like a challenge rather than a simple "walk here, kill, repeat" kinda thing
and the part with the first ganker who goes at it with Siggy was beautiful ;u;

1.96 is much easier than 1.95 (Maybe because this time I have paid extreme attention to vicious traps.).
Summoning 5 orbs instead of 3 max is cool and made things a lot easier (maybe too much?)!
Casting speed is maybe a bit to fast now, no?
To counter balance the things I have the impression that there's more monsters at some point, am I wrong (but it's cool)?

Siggy hasn't updated her suit from 1.95 to 1.96, she's not gonna win if she keep the automatic update off, security questions!! :)
Glad you adapted. When those traps were first introduced they had no warning at all! Everyone was losing their minds! As for summoning orbs as much will have penalties, so I still tested it for balance as much as i can. There's honestly no change on the casting speed. But if you upgraded, it will normally improve. Siggy turned auto update off. haha

You know what v1.95 is? It's shit.

Is there a dificulty option considered is the future?
Because 1.95 suit to the medium-hard mode.
1.96 is pretty much like medium.
Some guys complains with the 1.95 difficulty but I hope we will have the opportunity to adjust it to our taste.

To make things differents with the other games and the difficulty levels, instead of just raising or lowering monsters count and hit points, maybe you can also adjust spells like between these two versions.
Increasing/decreasing CD - cast speed, raise/lower amount of summons, etc...

For the puzzles, you can add an hint if Siggy has passed some time stuck behind a door (for those who don't read or understand the Tutotem), activable or not via a switch in the option menu, or linked with the difficulty?

Has you said, you need some rest... I will not bother you anymore with suggestions until next version. :D

Found a button that spawns an enemy that immediately goes for H, but then the game just got stuck on the animation of him trying to bite down on me. Rotten luck. Don't feel like going through all that again. Man, and I thought the last version was tedious. Oh well, guess I'll just wait for the update with the game overs before trying again. Dying over and over won't be so bad then. XD

Again make sure you have the SWF Folder besides the game.exe so you won't crash on 'special' events.
Did you have that folder when you played the game?

Yeah, the folder is there. I replayed up to that point and then everything worked fine. I don't know what happened the first time.

How do you get the indulge option? ive played and purified the crystal but in the struggle options i never get the indulge one, do you have to do something to unlock the option or is it not in the game? i know you can see it in the bestiary im just wondering how to get the indulge options while playing.

had to be locked in the field version as there will be dialogues and stuff to unlock it first. Just advance coding it so it won't fuck the flags later on when I get to it. Aiming to have it in v2.0

It's only 20 pages, not only is it still super easy to initially find the answer in the first place, but it would take almost no time to count the answer to your question, stand by update soon...

UPDATE: solution has been given 5 times, took me 12 min due to starting on page 1 just to make sure. 1.95 starts on page 14 or so, so it shouldn't take more than 2 if your backtracking from the last page. People just don't look.

Before I start, I'd like to say: awesome game and definitely excited to see what's coming up :D

Onto my quick thought:
Not sure if this has already been mentioned, and I'm not sure if this is going to be changed in the upcoming version 2.0, but I remember from 1.9 that losing the resist minigame costs you 1 Heart, but indulging costs 2. I feel it would be more fair to flip those around, since resisting would then have the risk of costing double or nothing, whereas giving in and letting it happen would be a middle ground option.
As I said, I'm not sure if this has been put forth already, just my 2 cents.

So the public builds won't be released with the nsfw ones? these are the sfw versions? if by chance, the public could get the nsfw versions of the game would it be from other sources such as this site or only patreons could get the nsfw versions, including it on a mail as an attachment whatsoever? thats a bummer

The public build still has H-scenes, if that's what you're on about. As far as I know, there is no distinction between the public and Patreon builds in that regard.
