From the Developer Notes in the OP:

The game is built from the ground up to be experienced in VR, but we’re also working on providing a standard PC port as well.

So it seems at the moment you need a VR headset to play.

Non VR version is a bit junky, though... but you can get it to work (or just use book to skip stuff).

I really enjoyed some of this but had to stop playing because I suffer with back pain and I require to sit a lot but I did manage to give it a go for a tiny bit last night and it was fun... A shame there's no sitting mode.
