So, I was playing DFD and I thought it was pretty good. I was even thinking about supporting the game. When I hit the spot where the daughter ran out on her father because a virtual stranger told her that her father was responsible for her mother's death, I could not believe the story had taken such as ridiculous turn. She did not even bother talking to her father to see if it were true or at least get his side of the story. Dad had raised her alone and she took the word of a stranger no questions asked. MC moped, struggled to make it through his daily routine, tried in vain to think of a way to win against the bad guy. Then an all knowing outsider came to the rescue. We didn't know if we could trust him. He did not tell us how he would save MC, so he suffered with his inability to save himself and the uncertainty of his future. In the end his master plan was successful and MC was saved.
When DH started, I liked the game. I was leary because of how things went in DFD. I decided I'd pledge a buck instead of the five I would have given in the early stages of the game. Today I cancelled the dollar.
I know some people will argue that Dennis is a good villain because everyone hates him. That doesn't necessarily make him a good villain. Heather Ledger's Joker and Hannibal Lecter are great villains. Dennis just makes me groan every time he shows up on the screen. While yes, I want to see Dennis get his just desserts; he also wants me want to quit playing the game. In the end, I pulled my measly buck because of him. I will probably never support a game by Palmer again because of this character and because of the rehashed plot that starts out great but just becomes an unfunny joke.
