What's more, as kinks get more fringe, people start expecting the games to cater more heavily to them and actually like a game less for having either any of an offensive flavor at all or for having only a little of it, so a game about 11-foot women has to have 11-foot women in every scene and not in a dream sequence (and the dream sequence alone will drive other people away), or a gay-tagged game can't just have one lesbian scene in it to be enjoyable for someone looking for gay games.
I don't think it's fair though to say that people who like trans or gay content
only like trans and gay content. Sure that is probably the majority, but if there is one thing I've learned in my year here at F95, both on the forum and in the Discord, it's that there are a lot of people whose tastes are very wide in scope.
I also think that it helps we are up front about the content. When we include the scenes with our trans character, and at this point we're committed so I do mean
when, it'll be pointed out that this character is a side character with limited story and that Roger's main tale revolves around the potential seven women outlined in the game.
You may be right, a lot of people could pass our game up and say "Oh, Trans content, I'm out." But I think when those fans who have faith in our ability to deliver what we promise play the game and feel no loss when they don't experience the trans content, they will be the ones to help us convince others that it's worth playing. That they can ignore the tags they want, and that they will still receive a whole experience without it. And I already know from the two dozen emails and messages I've gotten that there are existing players, people who came into this thing only for the straight content saying, "Thank you for even considering including this. I know it's not a focus, but it will be nice to see a trans option."
At the end of the day, this optional content adds so little in additional production time there is no excuse to us not to include it. People are going to love this game, hate it, or just think it's ok. I like to think that if we continue to offer well written, well rendered, highly interactive content, that the population of players is large enough that even if we alienate some, there will be enough left to make it financially viable to carry itself.
At the end of the day, there is only one way find out, and we're about to.
Cheers mate!
I just played this game for the first time.
While I like the way it is made, it seems that there is very little content considering that it has been out for a year now.
Or am I missing something? I've gone through all the scenes that have previews in the OP.
Is there an incredible amount of content that I missed because of choices made in the game?
Kinda doubt it.
I know others have told you about the reboot, but I wanted to add that if you are interested in playing the original alpha for comparison, you can still find it on our webpage under the [downloads] section.
One alternate, could be to at least say what you are getting when you make a choice, either a note by the choice, or as a message right after you pick it. Such as +2 Real, or +2 Shy, or whatever the option gives you. It may not give you a total that way, but it will give you an idea of the path you are on, and the direction you are going.
Xanatos found himself with some free time over the break and was asking if there was anything he could he do to help. To my great surprise he actually mocked up a function stat tracker that players can use to observe their current relationship status with the seven main characters. I'll tell you now, it's not pretty, but it works and in time we'll make some efforts to go back and make it gorgeous. Thanks again for the suggestion mate!
