So this is probably a dumb question but how to start the game? I only have 3 options, Load, Thanks and Quit.

I don't really remember, it's been a bit since I played (and I ended up quitting in one of the later episodes of the game because of all the bugs, despite the game being 'complete').
But, everything under the spoilers is part of this game, just different episodes or whatever you want to call them.

So I'm expected to download another old version of the game to create saves that I can start with the new version? Well... no. I pass. A missing start button is really something that gives a terrible first impression.

Wait... let me get this straight... I just downloaded this game for the first time and cannot start it because I have to load a "magical" previous saved game? Glad Microsoft isn't making me upgrade my Windows 10 by linking it to my Windows for Workgroups 3.11 first.
Screw this. To the Developer: literally NO one else does this, and it must be for a reason. I get it when sequels refer to previous versions, but this is not the case here, is it?
This is hardly promising for someone looking to download any of your works, nvm someone willing to pay for them.

Those 4 I remember off the top of my head do that and I know a few others with split chapters do the same thing.
They all have an enforced playing order and need saves from the previous chapter to carry on. You can't play later chapters without playing the earlier ones.
So, that is what you took from that? "Actually, others have done it also" is not in the spirit of what I was saying. *headslap*

You must play from the start in each chapter to move onto the next chapter, I never played this yet and was waiting till it was done to try but that is how it looks to me.
Need someone to list the chapters in order to play so those who have no idea which one to start with can play.

If you were looking closely you would see that you need to download the previous versions of the game and play them. The version you downloaded is the last one.
Click on SPOILER on the first page and download the previous parts.
I sincerely think this might be a promising game, which is why I am so frustrated at not being able to run it... (see other comments in the thread) .... here is what I ask for myself, and others equally frustrated: Which version do I need to start with, and where do I find it?
I am not, intrinsically, a negative person... I want to play this game... which version do I need to download and run... and where can I find it? We're not all "old-school" specialists who have been following this game since the stone age, after all.
I genuinely want to be able to play this game, give it a go, hence my frustration.
If I finally get it to run, and like it, I will post two things: How much I enjoyed it, and how to run the F'ing thing for the first time. You know, without saved files, etc...

Now I get it, you want us to ignore your words and respond to the spirit of the words.
So when you said "literally no other dev has done this" what you really meant is "even though i'm completely wrong i'm going to need you all to agree with me because ....... reasons".
It doesn't need people to have been following it from the start, all it needs is common sense.
This isn't me having a dig, that's all it is.
You play from the start, which is the intro.
Then you play part 1, then part 2, then part 3, then past, then 4 and then the final part.
It's literally in order in the downloads page. Start from the bottom and work your way up.
It's not a challenge, it's common sense.
You win by virtue of my fatigue with this debate. Do me just this one favor: look up the last 100 comments and see how many of them are about: I cannot play this game, it won't let me. So, if your sales suffer, perhaps look at the marketing, rather than the product. I have no idea if this game is good or not because I cannot play it, and no one, yet, has told me which version I should install and play first. I like the tags... this game might be right up my alley, but... oh well.

If 2 people telling you to play them in the order they are in the download section isn't clear enough nothing can help you.
I can't ....
Either you are trolling hard or the education system severely failed you, or you failed it, can't be sure which....
When they are clearly labelled as "INTRO" (that would mean introduction then), 01, 02, 03, 04 ........ Then someone asks "which order do they go in" ...... just fucking wut?
The intro even says "for beginners" in the title of it......
It must be trolling, nobody can be that dumb, surely.....

No worries, they just go up in order from there. When you finish one it should save at the end and start from there when you launch the next one.
