Trying to play devil's advocate (because I'd have rather that being a real scene myself), Summer is hammered, and while everyone around him is a psycho, the MC is a nice guy (so far at least), why would he jump on someone who's completely drunk?
I know, I know, but I prefaced it, I'm trying to play devil's advocate.

Didn't she pretty much say that she sobered up during their trek home? I'm not even hung up on the whole sex scene thing, he could have just stayed there to reassure her like she asked or something. I think that would still qualify as a right guy thing to do.

BTW I only really brought up the sex scene because the dev already spent a lot of time making it with animations and all, so to have it there for basically no purpose feels kinda pointless especially if you consider the long wait times between updates.

I think the reasons that "dream scene" is there are 2:

1. Story reason, it shouldn't have been there, because atm Summer is the only "normal" LI, but something is about to happen (cue in the animated scene at the end of the update, something that need the MC not present on the scene.
2. At the same time the update wasn't big, they give the players 3 alternatives, 2 lead to a sex scene the 3rd doesn't... they would have upset a lot of the supporters

So players get some sexy time on screen no matter the choice taken, but allows to keep story progression going.

Its obvious that the dev needed summer alone in her room on all paths but the way he chose to arrive at that destination was just fucked up.

Its not even about sex, but its simply very stupid and an asshole move to NOT sleep in her room with her when youre on her path imo.

She sobered up while they walked 3 (!) hours back, she was the whole time very frightened and was close to begging the mc to stay in her room with her, no matter if sex was involved it would have been the right thing to do to appease her mind and calm her down.

Instead the mc is like: "Nah, we need sleep, cya tomorrow, im in my room." like .. what?! This would even be a terrible excuse if they indeed had something important the next day in the morning (like a work appointment or whatever) but they are at a FUCKING FESTIVAL yeez. Who cant sleep in a room with a girl on a festival because he "needs sleep".

The housing situation is very odd in general lol

So in the end it feels super artifical, out of place, out of character and just heartless, insensitive and dumb at the same time. Fucking killjoy. The MC can get killed with all the other bitches for all i care, i was kinda annoyed that he left summer alone in the house in the morning already to talk with the backstabbing bitch outside and than he just keeps being fucked in the head. Summer should have let her parents pick her up lol

What I don't understand is why Mei's characterization changed SO drastically between the chapters. From her initial interactions and internal dialogues, it was seeming like she had helped plan this trip for the sole purpose of getting MC alone, revealing her feelings to him, and finally becoming a couple.

This truly sucks because I have always been a sucker for a "friends turned lovers" storyline in my AVNs (Zoey in Being a Dik, Eve in Summertime Saga, etc.), but now I literally don't even want to touch her storyline due to how much of a cunt she's suddenly acting like.

It could be anything, evil twin, DID issues, a more "standard" psycho, etc...

If you ask me the fact so many of us find her at the very least upsetting is a good sign in a novel (AVN/VN/etc...), if that's the intention of the writer, so long as it doesn't drag on forever because, this is not a book or a TV series/movie, neither a Kinetic Novel, so the suspension of disbelief as to why the MC doesn't just ditch her tends to disappear when we are given options/choices, but none to just "drop her".

I feel like its all related to the MC's ex girlfriend in some way and the jealousy turned Mei into the worst kind of psycho incel ever.

i feel like when the guy who kicked the MC's face said that the MC "stole both of his girls" that the ex-girlfriend was among them and the whole lea/danielle thing just misdirection.

Maybe Mei and facekick-guy incel-bonded back than already as they watched in jealousy how mc and his ex were happy together. Didnt the ex break up with the MC very suddenly and without reason ... ? Wouldnt be surprised if Mei and facekick guy were behind it.

Might need to replay this game again from start to finish, I always seem to forget the plot or details for it but jesus Mei is just a gaslighting Pyscho and atp it just looks like its better to go with Summer and fuck off from wherever dreamland is. this update lasted 10 minutes but achieved something unexpected , it made 90% of the characters become pieces of shit !
Mc after going through that bad expierence along with Summer , almost drowning after being kicked in the face and listening to the police saying that they will do jack shit , i'd would've waited for the rest of my luggage and ask Summer if she wanna stay 'cause i'm outta there that same day .
before this update only the Mc and Summer looked like the characters without any kind of hidden agenda but now even the Mc looks bad.
this developer will need a big " Deux Ex Machina " to make the Mc redeemable .

I don't think Alice even knows that Mei is or was a rival for the MC's affections. They haven't had much interaction before (if any). She could be hiding something (as every other Li seems to be hiding something or be disturbed in some way) but I don't see a reason for her to lie about that, especially when he could just ask Mei what happened.

Hopefully Alice's dark side is that she's secretly a succubus and needs to drain the MC's nut every night to survive.

She's seeing them talk one-on-one in the morning at the end of a pier. Especially for someone as wholesome as Alie seems to be, it would appear romantic

See, that's litteraly the writer admitting bluntly : I know it doesn't make any sense and the lines & characters are terrible but I'm doing it anyway !

Those claiming that the story isn't that bad obviously missed the fact that the writing is really THAT terrible and it's completely deliberate. And that's the big problem because doing something bad deliberately doesn't make the whole thing less bad at all. It's even a bit insulting to be honest

I think the proper way to enjoy this game is like watching an awful movie like Birdemic, Sharknado or the Room and laugh about it. Because if there's one thing that writer does right, it's making all the character very unlikable.

• Mei : Like many have already said, Mei has turned into a manipulative and insensitive liar with secret agenda, which makes little sense with the way she was written in the earlier episodes. Honestly, I'm almost expecting an absurd explanation like the real Mei was abduced by aliens and remplaced by a clone, or maybe she was kidnapped by a secret evil twin or something like that. I admit I had a good laugh when she still begged you to take her virginity anyway.
• Alex : he's still a simp and a psycho but the funniest part is the fact that he hit the MC head with a rock and abandoned him in the middle of the forest at night, then the fact the MC made him taste his own vomit in retribution have been completely forgotten. They both act like nothing happened at all.
• Lea & Danielle : Once again I've got nothing against slutty or bitchy characters at all, on the contrary. The problem is their own world only evolves around being fucked by the main character. Not only they're absolutely awful to each other for two besties, I'm surprised they haven't killed each other yet because there is not a single scene where they don't insult or try to betray each others. They have zero shred of personality beyond being two selfish horny bitches. Mei returned out of nowhere, the MC and Summer met a serial killer, the cops won't do anything, the former boyfriend came back and almost drowned the main character, Summer is completely wasted but they don't give a damn about anything around them. The sole purpose of their existence is getting dicked by the MC even if you turned them down 3 or 4 times At this point they're both pathetic

• Summer : is so far the only one with a normal reaction. There's a killer who knows our adress ? Fuck this shit I'm out ! Unfortunately for her, the MC suddently becomes a cunt who convinced her to get wasted in a bar and can even abandon her in her most vulnerable moment to either have anal sex or being Lea rebound guy ( she even calls you that way ).
• Alice : She was magically present when the MC was thrown in the water ( how convenient ) but she's already showing some signs of obsession. I'm sure there will be a sordid secret about her dad or brother in one or two updates.
• Even the secondary characters are horrible. The ex boyfriend came out of nowhere and instantly tries to drown you, the drug supplier turned out to be Dannielle ex ( how convenient ) and the cops litteraly tell you that they don't give a crap if someone gets attacked. No just calls us once somebody has died

Some would say that it's a bit like a slasher movie. Ok fine but the problem I have with this argument is that in slasher movies the real star and the main focus is usually the killer ( Freddy, Jason, Myers, Chucky, Ghostface, Pinhead, leatherface... ). Dreamland wants to reference that genre of movies, and it does, while still having to retain the elements that make it an AVN.

You can apply your reasoning to literally any AVN and mark it as bad/unreadable/superfluous/whatever... that only leaves the: "give me a lewd image generator", but then the whole concept of AVNs falls apart, doesn't it?
