It's all about "skip the repetitive boring part".
If every step in the puzzle leads to something different / meaningful, then yeah it's not something you should "skip", and the "replay value" will be there.
But the fact is most of the time you just click a button to get into the next part.
I was trying to see different scenarios, and immediately get annoyed that you can't easily skip thru the contents you've already seem.
(Yeah I actually meant every puzzle, "The Maze" is just one of the worse since there can be infinite loop - and the map doesn't really solve the issue that you can't directly see and click on it)
Oh yeah the "sphinx solution" is actually pretty neat, by playing around the concept / consequences of "skip the puzzle".
I can't speak for others. But I don't think those just wanna see porn are the same group that complains about "no gameplay".
And my reasoning is pretty much just as above. It's annoying to go thru the repetitive part of the game that you can't skip.
Also, the reasoning behind why someone wanna skip / walkthrough / cheat is not always the same, sometimes it's the player, sometimes it's the game.
Example, maybe the game itself is confusing, grindy, repetitive, the gameplay part is poorly implemented, the story is bad but the porn is good. etc;
maybe the player like to use cheats to see "big numbers", maybe they like to break the game, maybe they like shortcuts, maybe they just like part of the game and don't wanna see other parts.
"Why a porn game, not just directly porn?" For me, there's 3 different scenarios
- If play for porn, then the engagement / immersion helps better build up the mood
- If play for the game (this is quite rare, since I've high standard of a normal game), then the porn will be the cherry on the top. Especially there are some that integrates the porn as part of the "gameplay" amazingly well.
- Most of the time is the middle ground - porn games have their unique charm that you can't get from other type of games, even if the "gameplay" is......not there.
