Why not stay? Because as long as he is in that house he can never be certain that his memories or his actions are his own. The other girls are certain Clara is a good person but what makes them certain? We don't know. They all say they protect the mc. How? We don't know.
We don't know yet if we have to suspend our disbelieve like yet to be fair. Everything is set up for an interesting story. The last episode put the conclusion of the mindcontrol arc on ice with the date by the river. Next episode might have better answers.If it was real life then sure you will run away from a vampire that can erase your memories.
