I didn't even know that there's an EraUma version up until now. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Oh, it's entirely in Chinese...
It took a decade for people to halfway translate the touhou era games from a decade before.
Erabasic probably wouldn't be hard to AI translate if anyone's good at that in this brave new world. But previously you could never expect a new era game would be translated or translated soon, besides the specific half dozen ancient ones that fixated some english speaking autists. The easterners invent a new era game for every new piece of fiction, they're kind of dime a dozen inscrutable moonrune sims.

Yeah, I was just naively expecting that the game would be in Japanese atleast
If someone doesn't come up with a translation for it then I guess I could just grab an OCR and a translator engine and run the game with that if I run out of patience.

Usually you can TranslationAggregator, since the regular era engine can be set up to automatically copy all text into the clipboard, and TA grabs that and translates it automatically, but I'm not sure if the electronEra engine EraUMA seems to use has that.

Don't think that it has auto copy function though You can just copy the text directly from the screen other than the choices. Most of the important functions has also been translated so it's just the dialogues left.

eraBlueArchive and eraBlueArchiveK. Not sure if they're linked in the wiki, but you can find them in the era-games group on gitgud - need to be logged in though.
Both are entirely untranslated though.

What's the difference between eraBlueArchive and eraBlueArchiveK?

No idea ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
eraBlueArchiveK is a eraTohoK-like game. Didn't play it at all, since the untranslated map screen alone made it very difficult to understand, and the translation tools I tried didn't manage to clear up the map. Pretty sure that's partially because the translators won't be able to accurately translate the location names to the ones actually used in the global version of the game.

And since eraBlueArchive doesn't have a translation, too, I haven't tried it at all.

I need to apologize I thought we were talking about EraBlueResort

Sorry if this question has been answered before, but is there a way to change the portrait for your character if you're not using a custom character? The ones the game generates turn out pretty weird sometimes.

Well, either that or I'm blind and just couldn't find a language select on the PC build.
I just found a partially translated version of eraUma in the era-games group on gitgud. Even has a translated electronEra engine, optionally with a Google Translate plugin.

Although the automatic translation is not that good, imho. While practically the entire UI is translated manually, most of the character interactions are not. Google Translate also mucks up every now and then - e.g. the Chinese name of Kitasan Black is either translated into one of two different Chinese romanized names, or as "Northern Black Horse". Same with some other names - especially annoying if the same name is translated into different names in two consecutive lines and you have no idea who that is.
Also some oddly translated stuff, e.g. during sex in settings you have "筛除樱花赏指令" translated as "Filter out cherry blossom viewing instructions" and "筛除菊花赏指令" translated as "Screen out chrysanthemum appreciation instructions" - both seem to filter out some commands, but I have no idea what they're supposed to filter. Might be some Chinese slang Google Translate can't pick up?
And in addition to that, some UI elements get borked when Google Translate is active, e.g. the training screen, so you have to constantly turn it off and on again.

Another thing that's pretty annoying is that during sex sometimes some options are highlighted - and when they are, most entries you click on choose different options. E.g. when receiving a blowjob, the "request handjob" option will be highlighted, but selecting that instead enacts the "request deepthroat" action, which isn't visible anywhere on the screen.
Only way to get the action you want is to type in the numbers manually, but in turn you don't see the numbers (or the names, for that matter) for the advanced actions. Not sure if this is an issue introduced by the translation or the base game.

That said, the gameplay mechanics itself are solid. They even have a semi-animated race screen, and from what I can tell you can even send your trainees to overseas races. Although little mention of the winning concerts, I think the only one I came across was some mention when you go to Karaoke with your trainee.
You can also get your racers pregnant, according to the ingame notes, although I don't know what the consequences for that are.

I can see the game being pretty good once it's more translated.

make sure you are setting your translator to Chinese to English if the game is in chinese. If it is set to japanese when the text is actually chinese you will get the kind of gibberish you describe, i know this from experience

The only thing you can set the in-engine translator is the target language:

It's much better than the manual translations I got when I used TranslationAggregator, which was indeed set to translate from Japanese, so I assume it's already set to translate from Chinese.

Thanks for the detailed answer!
I was about to mess with some offline translators when I noticed your post. I'll check it out!
It's also really damn good to hear that the game is well fleshed out. I've been itching for a good Umamusume game and since I don't like gacha games this seems like just the thing I've been looking for, especially if the dev or some other kind and passionate community member keeps adding features and visuals to it.

Edit: I can't find the mentioned partial translation on the git-gud repository. Is there something I missed? Is this the wrong repository? 1765079768814.png

For some reason the vast majority of projects are only shown if you log in.
If you don't want to create an account, the credentials shared on bugmenot.com work.

Thanks a lot! I don't use gitgud a lot so I'm still a bit unfamiliar with it.
Found the project you mentioned, I'll give it a whirl.

Yes, you can change the picture of anyone throught cheat menu character editor (left three start at the options screen).
You also should be able to change your own image outside of cheat menu, in your own status screen, but maybe you can't, depend on game and it's version.

Cool, thank you for telling me! I thought there might be a way to do so, but I wasn't entirely sure and I was having a bit of trouble with the interface.
