  • I'm looking forward to more updates

  • Not really, I ended up here by following a random link

  • I couldn't care less if this game never got another update

You should put a limit of only one card copy in the council, otherwise a deck like the following is too OP: 38,38,38,23,23,23,16,16,16,6,6,6,6,30,36,36,44,44,19,12,12,12,12,11,11,11,10,10,37,37
You would spend the first 2 turns putting the lifebringers in the support area then go ahead and draw all the cards of your deck while overwhelming the opponent with high cost cards with any of the damage you get in the early game nullified by vineyard

Someone might've mentioned it already, but "Eromancer" is a dev with a rather bad rep around these parts (though shockingly a bunch of people still pay him). Might've shot yourself in the foot by picking that name.
Yeah, I did a search for the name before picking it and only found some random abandoned games. Then I found that someone was using that name. haha

But it doesn't matter; this is a tutorial project that I'm doing for myself. I honestly don't care if the player base consists of 10 or 10,000.

Bug: for modded cards, the code in free play is checking for a file at Eromancer/mods/cards/<mod name>/img/<img name> . Deck Builder expects these images at Eromancer/mods/<mod name>/img/cards/<img name>

Following the modding guide, images show up in the Deck Builder just fine, but fail to load in free play
Thank you! I'll look into it.
I'll see if I can find some free time this weekend, else it should be fixed by Monday.

Yeah, there's a couple of decks that are OP right now, but that won't be a problem once more factions are introduced - ie; this patch. :)

Other factions will have way stronger cards: Lifebringers are mostly there to try and make pure vanilla factions usable. If they are too broken, I can easily change their rarity and limit them to 1 or 2, although I don't think that will be needed once properly strong decks are included.

Here's a quickfix:
I also edited the way that the overrides were loaded - previously they were only being loaded if the rest of the mod was also being used.

Thanks for reporting it! Please let me know if you find any more issues.

If I may suggest, adding a lazier way to add new character cards (specific page for making these, with click-to-choose drop boxes, fields that require to simply type in info/number, etc.) would be really nice. Might encourage more people to give it a try (or simply make the process more straightforward and faster).

Sad to see that the reception was abysmal, from what I've gathered - due to the graphics. I am the prime AI CG hater, yet I do understand that it never was the point of your game. Unlike the customizability and "add your own deck and have a blast" kind of approach.
In any case, good luck with your project. Cheers.

Yes, that's something I've considered. It'd honestly be very easy to implement, if a bit time-consuming just to write all of the items to populate the drop-down menus and adding checks to prevent invalid information for each field.
It's one of the many features that I may add some day if I don't feel like coding skills or the AI, which are what's taking the most time now.

As for the reception, it seems to come down to a few factors: yes, there's the AI art, but I also saw a poll on reddit about the kind of adult game that people liked the least, and card games was the one with the most votes, so I guess people don't care much about these kind of games. That's ok.

There's also the fact that it has a single review (from back when the prototype was released) and it's 1 star, which reduces the game's visibility.

That review originally mentioned that the game (ie; the prototype) had no story, which was the reason for the inclusion of this card:

43c.jpg

What I find the funniest is that they edited the review after that - they came back to download an update for a game that they consider awful, and then backtracked on their review after being called out. Some people are just weird.

As a side note, I've switched to real porn for the new deck (for the upcoming update), because it's so much faster and easier than using AI art:

Untitled.png

I don't like it nearly as much as the AI art, but then again, the point of this project is for me to get good at JS, and the art generation was taking way too long.

IRONY - incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result

Irony will be an important word in this comment, so it's important to understand it in full. I burst out laughing reading your last post and nearly burnt my bottom lip with coffee as hot as my morning shit after a steamy sauna.
Why?
A simple fact that the developer would complain about someone, going even so far as to create a card to represent their anguish in the game, when the developer themselves does the exact same. Ironic that you were defeated by the art that you yourself had mastered on this forum.

Yet another great choice of words

Clearly, there's a pattern here and I could list more examples of the irony you bestowed upon us and the project you're working on but I got bored halfway through and the smile I had on my face disappeared due to the grunt work needed to clearly outline

HYPOCRISY THY NAME IS YOU

Maybe if you wouldn't waste your time reviewing unfinished games like they are already finished, the updates this game gets wouldn't take 3 months.

Imagine spending all morning stalking the reviews of a dev because they gave your bottom-tier cash-grab 2 stars. :ROFLMAO:

Touch grass.

No online version?
I haven't bothered making a website, since what I'm currently working on are just tutorial projects.

This one is under 200MB -probably closer to 100-, so it should download very quickly without causing any noticeable impact on storage.

Just wanted to give a thumbs up. This is a great start for a game. The core idea and engine of the game is well thought out and it has great potential (imho). Can't wait for the story mode and to see more cards added.
As it is now, it's pretty easy to defeat the AI, but I can imagine that'll change when implementing story mode.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Some new cards will be added on this weekend's update.

And yes, the plan for story mode is for each stage to use a custom AI tailored to make the most out of their specific deck, instead of the current AI that follows some basic catch-all rules.

I caught a nasty cold and my brain is useless right now: I spent like 4 hours attempting to implement a rather simple mechanic, but I'm not in any condition to code right now, or to do anything, really.

You can download an early build of the update .

It's missing descriptions for the new defeats, including 2 abilities in the tutorials, and the replacement of one graphic.
I'll do that tomorrow once I don't feel as terrible.

Once that's done I'll update the OP with the new links, changelog, and such.

0.2.3 is live.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

So... for a while now I've reached a point where I've been able to do everything I want to in terms of javascript without many issues.

As the main goal of this tutorial project was for me to learn JS, it has served its purpose.
That said, I want to and will finish the game - from the start I set out to make a game that I'd enjoy playing for a bit in my free time, and I'll keep working on it until that's done.

but.jpg

I also have a second tutorial project that I'd like to start focusing on. Since I created the poll, only some 30 people have mentioned that they care about updates for this game.

That's nice and all, but a tad disheartening, given that each version has had thousands of downloads.

The game also has only two reviews: one from last year's prototype, and a second one that was basically the equivalent of a "no u" by someone who got mad at my review. :ROFLMAO:

I have a bit of a fever right now, so apologies if this doesn't have a lot of structure, but what I want to get at is that I'm not seeing much interest on this game, and there is 0 useful feedback on the reviews section, where it's sitting at 1 star (is this game truly the worst one you've ever seen?).

So what I'm understanding from this is that barely nobody would mind if I start focusing on that other tutorial, and only release small updates for this game once in a blue moon.

If I'm mistaken and you actually care about the game, then please use that review button and leave some feedback, both so that I can tell that there's some interest in the game, and so that I can see which elements are working and which ones aren't.

Thank you!

About your butt.
Do not underestimate how many lurkers exist in social media. The majority of people will more or less ignore these kind of polls and still be happy that it gets updated.
In the end it does come done how you feel about finishing this project because it's your time and effort that goes into it.

Keeping an eye on it, tried to played it last update but couldn't do it, somewhat confusing.
But i loved the concept and the hard work making it from scratch and the availability of tutorials.
I would recommend to dig deeper on Daz 3d, but i guess you are a game developer not a 3d artist, anyway please keep up the good work :)

Is it just me or whenever the AI is at their backfoot, they pull this random ass hat card out of nowhere, ignoring any cost and putting it on the field to wipe your ass with it?
