Well ... see ... here is the thing ... smiling all the time hides the hurt .. that works with
every other cam gurl or escort or striper out there. It does not mean she feels no hurt inside.
From the game perspective, cptain disdain with MC returning alone and her lack of expression in the face means she is upset. Coupled with the direct nature of the mechanic just grabbing her to stop her from what she wanted to do, probably have some quality time with the Mc, makes gamers question what this was .. did MC really understand that instead of having a cuddly smooching and maybe even fondling session with his snuggly babe, instead, he gets to see some other babes having fun?
Do we need to interpret this as .. she could be your Gf, but she is snatched by the grabby other character and you are left to whitness your loss or just say whatever?
Are we supposed to fend off others so that babes that actually like us get the chance to be with us 4 reals?

The dev just said that was not the intention. You are applying a lot of assumptions and subtext that is just not there.
Interpret it however you want; it just is not correct.

River is NOT the character for you if you want a monogamous LI. River is unabashedly slutty, and she's not going to change.
Focus on either Techie or Amazon if you want a girl who won't be interested in anyone but the MC.

It seems that the dev is more interested in providing a sf novel than a sex story.
When you make a first release of your game, you need to capture your audience's interest very quickly. As we are on an adult game site base on sex stories, letting the player with blue balls is maybe not a good solution!!
