Exposure/"likes" on a pirate site does NOT equate to actual future paying customers. At best these guys can trudge along as a hobby...and like this dev...gradually slow production until it potentially ends up on the "abandoned" pile with the others. Then....inevitably....people will bitch here about milking blah blah blah.

Advertise on other mediums where the target audience isn't 99.9% freeloaders (hell...there's devs that have more views on Pornhub via "let's plays" than their thread here)....have additional landing pages that allow for SEO/search engine optimization and steer people to your patreon or other means for purchase....you won't get them all, but your hit rate will be MUCH better than the 0.0000001% you get here with views.

Simple economics lesson....your target audience has to have an ability/willingness to pay...or it is a waste of time if the goal is to fund/finance a project.
I'm wondering where are you pulling those extremely specific numbers from. Obviously from very thorough and legitimate research.

You know, there are quite a few devs of successful games who have an active presence on this pirate site. You might want to let them know about your very accurate stats, they are obviously shooting themselves in the foot.

By the way, there are examples of devs who took extreme measures to prevent piracy of their game, never got really involved with the community, but they still ended up abandoning their game. Guess it must be really hard and expensive to use those alternative methods, especially if your game involves non-vanilla content (that's also the main moneymaker).

I prefer taking my lessons from people who actually know what they are talking about. When it comes to software (and gaming specifically), the effects of piracy have been subject of academic debate for years. Taking lessons from some rando on the internet who pretends they hold the absolute truth on a "grey" subject like this, is not something I tend to do.

I actually find looking through this site a lot easier than trying to sift through Patreon, or anywhere else. It gives me the ability to check out games and contribute to people, as I see fit, based on what I learn by playing their games. This has resulted in me actually sponsoring multiple developers. I do understand that a lot of people here will never contribute, but it is like a gallery so that I can find my own interests.

A bit of everything
Hi everyone,

just about all changes on Patreon and Discord are done.
As far as I can tell it went really well. I've made dozens of tiny changes to things like access permissions though and it's very possible I goofed up somewhere, so please send me a message if you run into a problem and don't assume I know about it.
And speaking of messages: Thank you for some great mail I've received over the last weeks! You are all amazing.

A while ago I about the 'sales tax' changes on Patreon that go live in July and promised to tell you in detail what settings I use to minimize the impact on you.
Here they are by tier:
  • Support Level 1 is set as 50% 'General support', 50% 'Access to private community'
  • Support Level 2 is set as 85% 'General support', 10% 'Digital downloads', 5% 'Access to private community'
  • Extraordinary Support Level 2 is set as 90% 'General support', 5% 'Digital downloads', 5% 'Access to private community'
The categories 'General support' and 'Access to private community' are supposed to be tax exempt in most of the new regions. Hence, the sales tax rate you can find should only apply to the 'Digital download' part of your pledge, which either doesn't exist or is very small.

My part-time job hunt is still ongoing and is putting me in a bit of a bind at the moment. I knew I wouldn't be able to begin with the actual work before resuming the Patreon page, but I did hope to have the application part wrapped up by the end of the month. That seems unlikely right now and I'm not yet sure what to do in that case. I'll kick this can down the road for another week and decide then. If it looks like I'm close to signing something, I'll resume the page. If it looks like it might take longer, I'll rather keep it paused and have my peace of mind. Wouldn't be ideal, but as long as the end result is a long-term stable work setup, it's all good.
I also don't mind releasing the next update on a paused page, so once everything IRL is taken care of, we move on, regardless of 'page status'.

Apropos of nothing else: There are two images attached below. They have nothing at all to do with the game. I was testing something out and thought I might as well render her for your enjoyment.

All the best,
Henissart

Okay. I'm just writing this so it's I can refer back to it later...

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

It's a thought that's been rattling around my head for a while and I just need to write it down BEFORE a future release proves me right or wrong. Definitely adds some replay value to go back and see things with a different perspective. IF things turn out that way.

On page 1, the first post, you can find the date: "Release Date: 2020-03-08"
That can easily be changed as it normally is to keep people from asking such questions IMO. IE: I've seen games released two years ago have their release date changed on their OPs to match the "Updated" date.

Oh ok, didn't know that. In this case it is the correct date of the last update though.

WEG are not something I was interested in until a few months ago. I always thought they were of low quality. Obviously I could not have been more wrong and I can definitely say if it weren't for this site I wouldn't have come to that realization and never would've played this game. It's true I'm not a patron but that's more to do with a technical barrier. I don't really know how to use Patreon / how to link my CC to it and would need to go through that whole process first. But taking that out of the equation, I would easily give this guy money for this game, no f'ing question. And that's F95 that made that happen.

Henissart has answered possibly (a lot) more than once that there are no futas nor any other possible or impossible kind of "girls" with dicks in this game (and my personal thanks for that). Speculations around that theme are pointless.

I'd argue that speculation is never pointless, but I thank you for clarifying the information.

I don't follow everything he's said recently (or even semi-recently), so pardon me for missing information you've seen.

I was actually thinking of this post that Henissart posted over a year ago now - not long after he started the project...

Monkey King Mon said:
wonder if that means there going to be some futa content in the future
No promises, but I can at least tell you that one futa character resides in my head, ready to be unleashed.

Though obviously, things change and so rough outlines and possible plot ideas become firm ideas and essential narrative. As I say, I hadn't seen anything more recent to counter his previous comment. That's on me. However, that little bit of doubt planted a seed of an idea in my head and when I replayed the game recently - it resurfaced. Hey ho. PSA: No kittens were hurt as a result of my speculation.

Oh, now I'm starting to doubt in what I kind of remember reading here... Can't actually find more posts from Henissart mentioning "futa" in this thread than the one you pointed at. Maybe I was wrong about him saying it directly after all.
Still at least hoping no supernaturals coming into play in this game.
