i swear to God I tried to laugh but I couldn't, the same thing happened to me with his first game too I couldn't laugh, which is weird because I'm a person who laughs easily.

That's probably cause this type of humor doesn't reach you, I can teel you that Caribdis can make Comedy and I say this as someone who find comedy rarely enjoyable as it can easily kill the seriousness in a story.
Comedy might be the most difficult thing to add to your game/movie/etc... as it's deeply personnal and subjective and I think Caribdis does well in that field (y)

well the only complaint I have with Eternum is comedy, Caribdis is many things, but a comedian is not one of them. :HideThePain:
:WaitWhat:

Eternum is unironically one of the funniest games I ever played...and I don't mean one of the funniest porn games or VNs, I mean one of the funniest games.

He does stuff here and there, but you could cut him out of the game without losing much apart from a lot of laughs.
The game has made me chuckle and laugh on way more than one occasion, saying he can't do humor is pretty out there. I think Eternum has some great humor mixed in an otherwise darker, more serious themed game.

However, if you're looking for an incredibly humorous game, where the humor is very much a persistently amazing factor throughout, then if you haven't already try Projekt: Passion. Now that game had me laughing/chuckling a lot, while still being able to deliver dramatic, serious, more emotional moments as well when it needs to.

Anyways, I think Eternum has the perfect blend of humor mixed in, it's not meant to be at the forefront, and it's not meant to be a selling point of the game, it's more like icing on the already amazing cake.

I mean you don't have to force yourself if you don't find it funny. It's just that a lot of people do cite the humor as a plus so maybe the jokes are right up their alley more so than in your case.

Kind of disagree? As Dorf is saying, he's an apt team battle planner, but is seen as a goofy sidekick. One thing that Cari is pushing immensely is that every person has their wheelhouse and someone capable of using ALL their talents to pull a heist is an incredible thing.

For him to get a girl off to the side that has him out of the running for the main LIs is what Cari is going for while ensuring he's close enough to be capable of seeing some of what the MC is missing and being a loyal friend over the Stabby Standard.

Again: The problem is, that we more get told about him having planned it than we really see him planning it (not sure, how you would even do that, but there is a reason I'm not developing my own games, I guess).

For the 1st character outside of Orion to even say anything in the game (if you don't count the introduction with Annie and Dalia), his role overall is just feels pretty small. But again: It's okay if that means more screen time for the girls.

I think the humor is more subtle than ya'll are seeing it to be.

Like, you trust Chang and he gets an answer wrong while you trust others and they give the right answer. That sets up that when Chang is FINALLY right on the last one, you still put trust into him.

There's also change wearing the breed me shirt and you remind him.

Or Dahlia having a bad day.

Or Nova hitting you with a frying pan and being this hyper active pixie girl.

Or this:

Sometimes, the humor is in the situation, not necessarily the slapstick.

Yeah, that's what I mean: There is humor everywhere in the game. Also Cari uses the means of a VN like using widely changing statics to imply actual rapid movement and what are probably the best sound effects in a porn VN (at least of the ones I know) better than...pretty much any Dev.

Well, humor me for a moment... What would Chang actually need to do to increase his role? If he goes in Eternum, he might start competing for screen time PLUS getting time with the girls where MC can't such as possibly in the next update.

To really have a right hand, you need them to have their own strengths that won't compete with the interests of the MC. That's Luffy and Zoro. I think when we ARE in the real world, that's when Chang is present for the most part while in the Eternum world, the girls get center stage. That's my guess as to how the screen time truly works.

I'd rather Chang not get any screen time. Maybe send him and his gf to another world to be forgotten. Maybe make a spin off game called 'Chang in Chains'.

i've already played Projekt Passion but his comedy didn't make me laugh either, I was left in that awkward situation where someone tells you a joke and you don't think it's funny and you have to fake a fake laugh out of pure politeness so as not to make the person who told the joke uncomfortable.

Well Idk what else to tell you, I think you spawned into the world with a low sense of humor stat, that's RNG for ya. :ROFLMAO:

There's no rerolls in real life sadly, some of us are just unlucky like that, like me with my shit memory. I can remember pointless crap just fine often times, but when it comes to important stuff like passwords or birthdays I tend to struggle at times. I also struggle memorizing lines or important details from stuff I read or hear from games/books/movies etc, which definitely sucks.

Also before anyone brings it up, yes I know humor is subjective, but my own subjective humor is obviously superior.

I'll have to wait for Caribdis or Classy Lemon to roll a 20 roll on the dice in the comedy stat, to see if they make me laugh in the next chapters. :KEK:

I can see enjoying this game if it didn't have humor in it, but I can't see myself continuing to play if I didn't find the humor in it funny ... that would probably sour the experience for me.

I tend to fall off things that make me cringe, no matter how much I'm enjoying the rest of it.

Both PP and Eternum try to combine humor and drama (and porn), but I think Eternum does it better. Eternum has an actual plot with all the hooks and arcs and twists and other narrative devices. Yes, the whole VR game thing and 10 Gems of Doom make it easy to come up with the next episode: "oh, we've learned that another Gem might be found at the X-themed server", but the game is not limited to just collecting the Gems, you get all kinds of parallel threads development.

PP might have good comedy sketches, but the overall plot is kinda weak in comparison. "My woman betrayed me and ran away with my McGuffin to the Bad Guys" needs more exposition for me to care. I want to see what kind of woman she was, what the McGuffin does, why the Bad Guys are so bad.

Plus, the girls in Eternum are all fundamentally well-adjusted individuals with some hangups, while the girls in PP are a crew of broken birds. Switching between comedy and drama gives me emotional whiplash when everyone is a walking bag of traumas.
