For a lot of reasons.
First of all, advertising, more people playing, talking and just knowing your game mean more potential subscribers.
Secondly, because mods and fan translations means more people playing, talking and just knowing the game, so again, more potential subscribers.
And third and the most important thing, people who piracy a game usually don't buy a game, so he don't lose anything. Yeah, maybe a little percentage of people that are thinking about subscribe or buy the game in itch.io are gonna download the game here and not pay, but the percentage of people that look and play the game, love the characters and the story and ended supporting Caribdis or any other creators is always more. And you just need to see how every time he updates the game more and more people subscribe to his patreon, because there is not better publicity than a well-done game with hundreds of people congratulating Caribdis for it.

And my break is done, have a nice day people.
Well that makes sense. Thx duck. I really hope he’s the real Cari, I’m sure as hell that he’d be proud of the community he created and he should be. He brought all kinds of people together because he made a masterpiece and we’re going crazy about it. I mean a literal duck just replied to me. I’ve never been more honored. All thanks to Caribdis. He really deserves all the patreons, too bad I can’t afford it. (Always reffered to Caribdis as “he” so idk might be a woman or a group behind it, either way thanks for this amazing game.)

but it just doesn’t make sense, he gets paid for this game why would he open a thread and upload it himself?
Aside from what was already said, two additional points:

The last time(s) the game was leaked, it was not done by Caribdis himself. So it is not like they give this game out for free on Release Day. They would probably post it here themselves if it reaches Public Release on Patreon, but usually, it is posted here by someone else and Mods are updating the OP.

Second, even if they would not be on this forum, someone else would have created a Thread for Eternum. So it is not like they lose anything when they have an account here, because the game will be posted here anyway. So in this case, it is better to just take the opportunity to be active here as well.

Sigh, well I just finished my first playthrough and I must say I was terribly disappointed in 0.5. Yes, yes, I know, for all of the fanboys, I really liked the game up to now and I will still play it going forward in the hopes that this was a speed bump, but porn elements aside VNs live or die by the writing for me. A couple of relatively easy path navigations in Andromeda and at the party, some absolutely ridiculous dialogue and suddenly everyone can't wait to fall on MC's dick at the slightest provocation in the most inappropriate moments. I understand that it's a porn game, but even so there's tons of room for smoother integration of sex and character development into the game. It's like suddenly MC has too bang as many people as possible as quickly as possible in order to win a scavenger hunt or something. Is there that much need to rush at the expense of the story and basic logic? I suppose many would disagree and want to see as many lewds a possible as quickly as possible. Hey, some of the animations were great. Still, it grates on my nerves. And seriously, an Alien sequence? really? That was brutally bad. There were no words for how bad that was. Now, this isn't to say that there weren't some good story development elements and some intrigue, and the core story itself is still really good, but this is the kind of thing that distinguishes the really good games from the ones that are "meh". This chapter was "meh"

thats your opinion tho, besides, in many people's opinion, this is the best game on this site. you could make arguments for other games as well like pc, artemis, my pig princess etc.. but at the end of the day the best game will always be the one that is called the best by the most number of people

your knowledge in greek mythology is pretty cool. I only know them from Percy Jackson lmao (ofc the books)
It's not that deep...my knowledge I mean. It's mostly Google fu. And some stuff that I learned from my highschool/college years (either from required reading assignments (i.e. 'The Iliad'...but we never touched 'The Odyssey,' weirdly enough. That one I've only managed to read after I graduated. And only an abridged version, at that) or from playing the OG 'God of War' trilogy). And I suppose some bits and pieces that I can still remember from that I've watched when I was a kid...

I seem to recall a moderator or admin in this thread saying that even if someone else made the thread and leaked the first release, they usually reach out to the game dev and hand in the reigns of the thread if they happen to have an account here. I dunno if it was in this thread or another thread in this site, I'm trying to remember.

No you are not.
Subscribed to Caribdis after I found this game after playing 0.4
This site , albeit a pirate site gives devs the subscribers they need if people find their work worthy of their hard earned cash.
The subscriber numbers found on graphtreon are a testament to that

First off, you failed to note that I had said that I enjoyed the game thus far and would continue playing it. I also said that I like the core story line. My critique was of episode 5, but yes, that's my opinion. I do enjoy the game overall, but no, I don't think it's the best game ever. Just a good game. As you say, that's subjective. Enjoy whatever you like. As for being the best because of volume of people, well, that's just crap. There is a world of difference between being the best and being the most popular, unless you also believe that McDonalds and Budweiser are "the best" because more people buy them than anything else. In any case, Eternum isn't even the most popular, so there's that. It's entirely possible and even reasonable to be critical of parts without condemning the whole.
