Man, we really need a full list of every song this game has. Caribdis finds some stuff that just ticks all the right boxes.

On both counts I agree because Calypso once said she has to say that Orion is her slave so her people won't harm him, and I don't see her sneaking around with Orion.

I don't think that's the case, there was a mystery to be solved and what triggered it 'complete' was when the kid found her way back to her mom. Zombie turned back into a human and both NPC's vanished, in place appeared a portal out of nowhere.
That sequence is way too scripted not to be something programmed. Quest complete, here's the gem and an exit portal to get out.
I suppose you could say it's just convenient to keep the story going, but that'd be pretty bad writing.
You'd think so but what's interesting about that is when you search the laptop and look up the Founder, Orion will think to himself there's the contract for CEO and it's notarized.
Obviously he's no expert, but I think the line was put in there to tell you that it's the real deal.
We really don't know any of the Founder's motives. "All will be revealed to the person who finds all 10 gems". What his plans are I honestly think we couldn't even predict at this point.
I'm leaning towards the game's baited us into thinking he's after the gems for himself.

You say that as if Orion getting an upgrade out of nowhere to his powers so he could survive a near-death experience in this patch isn't convenient to keep the story going.

Convenient yes but a completely different thing. And the NPCs deviating from their behavior in 0.7 which could retroactively explain why the young girl gave Orion a gem of doom for a seemingly simple quest instead of some other quest reward doesn't count as a possible explanation?

It was not really just a simple quest to be honest. Luna was unable to move forward with it, and probably lots of others not even bothered with it. It was imo a well hidden gem. Very well nicely designed MMO feature giving away an extremely rare reward for something that not lots of people even bother with.
Despite Thanatos being the big BAd ass strongest, undefeatable warrior, I can't see him gettin that Gem, if it was not for Orion, or someone else to find it , and then stole it from him
moreover, I think all of the Gem Thanatos has basically stolen from an another player. HE is like a hardcore PVP-er who not bothering with the rest of the things that much

That's why I said "seemingly." There's a lot of complexity involved without the Syndicate and Chop Chop making things a lot smoother for Orion and co (such as finding the NPC to begin with and getting the required item to continue the conversation with said NPC).
