(in response to my earlier comment about mysteries having dwindled now)
In terms of mysteries I just disagree. Don't really know what you are talking about there. Mind elaborating on what you mean by that a bit?
In the beginning we:

-Have mystery in what Eternum is
-Have mystery in who the Founder is
-Have mystery in who's reaching out to Orion (pay phone call, his dreams)
-Have mystery on Benjamin's death

"Well duh, at th beginning of the game we know nothing so everything's a mystery"

Yes, but as things have progressed new mysterious have gotten introduced to replace the ones that have been answered.

-Who's Thanatos ==> How is he dead irl and alive in game
-Orion's powers
-What are the NPCs
-Who/what is Calypso
-Who/what is Idriel
-Who are the Immortals

There's never been a shortage of mystery, until now.

Pretty much every single one of those above questions for example except Orion's powers have been answered now to a large degree, we just don't know all the details.

Guys, what do you think, maybe Alex is actually pregnant after all? I looked at two different photos and in one she looks sad, and in the other she looks embarrassed.
Nah, Alex is like the least likely one to let that happen at that point when they were more like fuck buddies and just took a big decision to live alone as well as considering her future as athlete. She was most likely at safe part of month considering she wanted that creampie and wanted to just mess with him here
Bro...

Anyway, I also don't think Alex is actually pregnant tho. She could be, but I don't really see her shying away by using a lie to test Orion. It's very likely something happened, like she was experiencing symptoms and took a pregnancy test, but I don't think she's actually pregnant and using a "hehe jk" feeler, I don't think it's like her.

My only real issue with this update was Orion flirting with a waitress one time and Annie just peacing out completely. Really? Annie?
Caribdis's games have some very intetionally clear choices that fall under 2 categories: 1) Don't be a pussy; and 2) Don't be a scumbag.

That interaction is there literally to tell dudes: Bro, when you're taking a nice lady out on a date do not fucking flirt with another woman. That's just disgraceful

As for Annie's reaction:

Have you stopped to think why Annie hasn't made a move on Orion despite being love with him for years?

The main reason is because she believes he would never like her. So she suppresses her feelings and hopes.

It's not so much, "Oh he flirted with the waitress, therefore he's a bad guy, therefore I'm not interested in him anymore"

It's much more, "Oh...I guess...he's not really all that into me. Okay then, I guess I'm not too surprised. I was dumb to think otherwise."

As for the other girls: Annie knows there's genuine love. That's what this game's about. And she's choosing to believe that Orion's love for the others doesn't diminish his love for her. Flirting with the waitress isn't love though, it's just an indication that sexual attention is flippantly unimportant.

IMO this cliffhanger is way worse then the 0.7 ending. Of course, the impending death of Orion could have had a huge impact on the story. But despite Caris attempts to not reveal a single thing about Orion within the sneak peeks, we all knew that the story would continue with Orion. Calypso, his own abilities or even if he had died and would be "revieved" as an NPC, his story would have continued. And due to the 4 lewd scenes it was clear that Orion would be alive in some way or another very fast.

This time, however, it is much more difficult to predict what will happen, as the possibilities are very diverse. Besides, I'm certainly not the only one whose anticipation for the elven world, Calypso and all the lore is greater than for any other server / adventure before. The wait is going to be cruel this time.

Started the game like 2 hours ago, does anyone have an approximate guess of how long until I get to a first some sort of a sex scene? With where I am in the story it seems hours away

the young girl gave Orion a gem of doom
That's not what I was referring to by convenient, but rather how the NPC's turned into an exit portal.

They've never done that at any other point in the game. The simple logical conclusion at this point in time is that they were programmed to do so after the mystery was solved.

Doing that just out of convenience should be unnecessary, since the gang could've just said "lets walk back to the exit portal" like they've done at other times. But I guess you never know - regardless, it's not comparable to Orion having his powers to solve a cliffhanger.

When you go to Ion with Annie, you can buy "services" from a female worker. As a hint, don't worry about the money.

People talking about NPCs being programmed as though we haven't learned what we have learned.
Yes, there are the control chips, but they can be overridden. We've seen this. If they can be overridden in one way, there may be others. Also there can be bugs. It's very difficult to write bug free code, and the more complicated you need it to be the higher the chance of bugs.

I think there is still a lot of mystery around exactly what Eternum is. Parts of it seem scripted for sure. But with what was speculated and now is certain (that Eternum is not, or at least not entirely, a virtual reality world created by the Founder) then what can we be sure is script and what is happening because it is? Even repeating events that multiple people can experience. Recurring dreams, psychological states keeping someone mentally reliving the same experiences, there are other reasons than a program that can cause repeating events, once we're open to the idea that Eternum is not a fully controlled environment.

(I wasn't sure what to spoiler there because it seems like people aren't using spoilers much anymore, at least not most of the posts I read in the last few pages)

I feel like not knowing all the details is an important caveat. Did we get some answers about these? Yes. We're missing enough of the details that it hardly feels like a shortage of mystery.

- We still don't know exactly what Eternum is, or the purpose of the gems (I have my suspicions, based on the battle scene from Calypso's story, which may be confirmed in the next update).
- We don't know who the Founder is (or did I miss that somehow?) or what he wants.
- The mystery of why Thanatos is still around in Eternum is as big, if not more so, than who he is. Who he is turned out to be relatively unimportant.
- We haven't solved the mystery of Orion's powers, other than that they're probably related to him being 100% compatible. The underlying mystery of why does he have 100% compatibility remains unanswered. (I know you said this one wasn't solved)
- Same with Idriel and the Immortals.

Also, as we enter the second half of the story, we should be getting more answers. It's more fun than a story where all the answers only come out right at the end. So I would agree that we have less mystery (but not a shortage) now, and that's a good thing.

I usually wait for the public release but this time I couldn't resist. I struggled to format my thoughts, there were a lot, so I'm just going to ramble out some opinions here on 0.8.

(please don't send the pitchforks after me for some of these!)

I was bored by Nancy and Nova's threesome (no pitchforks, I beg you!). It was barely a threesome. The two were not really involved together. And the sex lacked the excitement of both Nancy and Nova's individual scenes.

This was more than made up for by Alex's scene (holy fuck that was epic! the animation at the end where Orion cums on Alex's face after he drags her up by her hair!! but also starting with Alex being emotionally vulnerable – she's a sweet girl and we all know it), Annie's scene (grateful for the opportunity to play it more romantic and tender, even if the sex itself was mostly on the harder side, it felt more suited to her personality), and Dalia's scene (that girl! so many incredible orgasms! And she says they took it slow!! If Orion could survive that he can survive anything).

I hold faith that Caribdis will make future threesomes more interesting.

Annie!!!!! Putting the flirty waitress in her place, so intimidating, and then hilariously adorably and rightfully proud of herself after. And she practically nukes an entire planet! We knew you could do it, Annie!

I hate hate hated the tedious office sequence. I get it, there needed to be some obstacle on the island to slow their journey. But I have a special place in the darkness of my heart for stories which trap people in a looped fake reality they need to find their way out of. Rarely done well and I don't think this was one of those times.

Loved the skeletons, Ed and Morty.

Jerry and Pam (the Ishari girl) coming into the room after Orion and Dalia finish and they're still naked – comedy gold. Poor Jerry. I've started to like him. I hope he and Pam get together. Maybe a whole harem of Ishari girls for him now he's their leader.

Not. Enough. Chang!

Didn't Orion mention during the infiltration section that once they were done with the event he doesn't want to pull the girls' real bodies to Eternum ever again? If he sticks to that promise then I think the girls will be safe from here on out unless something happens later in the story that would force them to jump to Eternum with their real bodies...like, say, if the game prematurely closes and the only way to access it is through Orion's ability or Caly's portals.

I loaded up my post infiltration save and you are correct. After he and Dalia return to Kredon he tells her that's the last time he takes anyone else in with him.

I feel like the story will find a way to make it happen despite what he said.

Dorfnutter I was away and missed a mention by you here. Could you please post a link to y

I don't agree with this point. Until that point, they thought Thanatos was a live player, someone just like them - maybe even like Orion (regarding compatibility). They discovered the actual player has been dead for a while, meaning Thanatos is a 'self-sentient' NPC. Dealing with that kind of character is waaaay different than with normal NPCs.

I may have worded my point poorly, because I don't think we disagree. When I say who he is is relatively unimportant, I mean his identity outside Eternum; that is, all that we've learned about him so far. Probably I should have said who he was. Unless he was a 100% compatible player and that explains why his avatar persisted in Eternum when he died, there's nothing of particular interest about that version of him, and nothing helpful in what we know. So he is still a near complete mystery, and that mystery is all about who/what he is in Eternum.

(I have another wild theory which I'm keeping to myself for now)
