Ah, yes, I remember her. Quite a curious and cute girl (from the few sequences I saw), I think.
This is a really interesting thought that never would have occurred to me! It kind of makes sense, too, in terms of the game aspects of the story. I can't imagine anyone would actually enjoy a playthrough with no LIs (actually that's not true; I've seen more than one user on this forum who apparently like to play that way), but having Calypso be "protected" so that she's impossible to alienate is an intriguing take.
On second thought though, I wonder. Because Orion wouldn't have been shot in the first place if he wasn't walking across the shitty part of town to get pizza for his girl, so I dunno. Still, an intriguing thought, and I don't think we can just completely dismiss it!
Tell me you've never tried to render something complicated in high resolution 3D without telling me.

Careful there... I heard that Calypso is Hilary Clinton's favorite LI. Bad mouth Calypso and you may find yourself waking up one morning only to find you accidently committed suicide in your sleep.
(YES I know he can't wake up after committing suicide, it was a joke... just saying)
I like this idea of Calypso being different from the other because she is vital to the story. Arguably she can at any point fuck off, but instead decided to stay because "she felt that there was debt that needed to be paid" rather than "going away on her own to fully figuring out everything without the humans around".
From narrative sense, after spending enough time with everyone she began to like them, maybe consider them friends. This may be enough of a reason for her to return from the Elf Realm later.
Her not being included with the other girls makes sense. If she decides to fuck off, or just not spend time with everyone, they can't use her portals, which in turn makes quite a few feats they achieved impossible.
Her being hidden Love Interest makes sense, and her being considered side girl from UI perspective does as well, because not only is she not considered "real person with who Orion can have relationship for big part of the game" but also "compared to the other/real LI she lacks content and sex scenes to be even if narratively she will have important role and be needed for perfect ending"
Now, after Orion get "training in the Elf realm" and "figure out how to use portals properly" she won't be needed as much. I can see her being "alienated depending on how you treated her" or "people not on her path missing scenes with her" because she won't be as vital as before.

But it would then be obvious that she had free will and is therefore not just another subroutine / NPC. It doesn't feel like the time is ripe for that (hypothetical) reveal yet...

Putting aside the overuse of quotations, congratulations, you just described how narratives and love interests work. Characters who grow and change throughout a story and whose ultimate ending depends on the player's choices.
Don't forget Agent 17. The progress is fake, the previews are fake, only the monthly delays are real. An entire year of delays only resulted in less than 10 minutes of gameplay.

My theory is rather, that there might be a choice at the end in which Orion either lives with the harem on Earth or moves with Calypso to her kingdom. But we'll see...

While there were initially 9 LIs planned for the game, I seem to recall the slots in the LI page in 0.1 to only have 7 (with 1 reserved for the Side Girls). Could be wrong tho since it's been a while since I've played 0.1.
I am considering that it may end up being the same as the last game. That there are "main girls" and "side girls" with the "true ending depending you making every single choice be the optimal one".
If we consider Calypso to be one of them, then we are left with Matt and Eva. It's probably a bit late to involve Eva in anything but i can see Matt joining depending on how things go. ... Also Luna's Uncle, Huygo said that he has two daughters. Going by the sneak peaks, it seem that Luna's family connect to the cartel and the Mafia plot with Raul and Noah may get involved, which may be good point to reintroduce the two of them. Possibly when the MC and Luna decided to visit and speak to her Grandmother about the sister with powers.

Are those early versions of the game still hosted anywhere? There is another early(ish) scene I want to see if it changed slightly or if my early memory of it is just fuzzy. I vividly remember 8 slots, with 1 reserved for others, but this was before the doing homework at Alex's house update, though(0.3 I think). You can always check torrent or see if the links for 0.4 (which is the update where the Dalia beach scene takes place) are still alive here or in Cari's Patreon Page (check Public DL links for 0.4). Other than that.../shrugs

I'm pretty sure the main vs side girl concept isn't used in Eternum. The 7 are all equally "main girls". I don't think Calypso can really be counted as a side girl in that sense. I also think that at this point it is very clear, that there won't be any other girls introduced anymore, that will get more than maybe one scene (and even that is questionable), since Cari has problems enough to involve all the available girls in enough scenes.
