First I didn't even know that 'Ask for an appointment' was even a part of the game. Not sure how I missed it lol. Thank you for pointing this out.
If you aren't prompted to keep the high society person as a contact, they won't be added and will be forgotten. The option only comes up if your reputation is high enough and you're well liked by high society. This requires not only building your reputation, but also holding lots of receptions until you're finally given the option to add them as a contact. I've never seen a case where they aren't added if you choose to keep them when given the option. If you aren't given the option to keep them as a contact they will be automatically forgotten. This is working as designed.

There is a bug here. Asking for an appointment wasn't supposed to be available unless you owned the mansion. High society members will ignore people they don't consider to be on their level or social status. Since you're basically being invited to another high society members home, I also added a small reputation requirement to 'Ask for an appointment'. So asking for an appointment now has two additional requirements:
Own the mansion
Reputation of at least 100
I'm not sure it's worth posting an updated QSP file just for this small fix but if someone really wants it I guess I could post it.
