Going offtopic and before my joining of the forums, Stranded with benefits ep. 2 also lacked endings with chosen girls, locked it in a paywall with 10 patreons only; I was really pissed when I can't get the ending with the blonde, would have considered being a patron but pfft (I know its a past game). It was a dickish move hopefully Pinefalls goes well in developement aspect (to not screw our fellow adult game players/lovers) but I really hate devs that do this in some aspect they are almost as bad as those who abandon games without explanation and still keep hopeful/suckers patreons money (whats left of them).
Adult game development shouldn't be an alternative to a full-time job unless you built yourself up like the top devs with thousands of patrons, should be a hobby like game modding (fuck patreon locked and paywall mods).
PS. Sorry about the rant guys and going off-topic.
Dont get me wrong, i can understand the dissapointment and/or anger when there is stuff behind Paywalls.
But modding a game and creating a game isnt really the same. And even in the modding community you mention yourself that there are some behind paywalls, and obviously they use patreon as well nowadays. Just like everyone and their mom does too.
This is called capitalism, and it is the World Religion Nr. 1. Sure there is a difference between the guy who publishes his stuff for free, but puts a patreon link below, so those who feel like tipping some money, can do so. And the guy who puts up a few screenshots, puts a patreon link below it and ask you to pay first, and then see what you get. But the difference is not as big as people claim it is, in both cases you have the free choice what to do, either you pay some money, or you dont.
Just the first guy does it in a more appealing way, because you get his "product" for free first, and then you are asked for a tip afterwards, like Waiter/Waitress would do. While the first guy does what the majority does out there in the World, he tells you how great his product is, ask you for payment to get his product, then once you have it, it might actually be trash, but it might as well be worth the money.
Sure you argue that all those people put it behind paywalls suck, and are "abusing" the patreon system to replace money they make in a job with something you consider a hobby. But dont fool yourself, look around you how many things out there are "hobbies" for people, but when you want to see it, participate in it, or have a share of it, you are asked to pay. Go to your local Football/baseball/basektball/icehokey/hokey/Soccer/Tennis/tabletennis/Volleyball match to watch it, in the majority of the World you will be asked to pay an entrance fee. Sure you will only pay a few bucks, but you do in fact pay to watch people play their hobby sport, and the higher their league the higher the chance those people get actually payed themselfs for being good at their hobby, and the "end game" is that some local Clubs Play in a League were you hire Proffesional Players, whos Job it is to play that Sport.
And its just the same for game devs as well, sure thats no argument that excuses the abuse that happens with patreon. Which is happening their is no question about that.
But there is also the thing called piracy, which is nowhere as big of a part of the community as it is in the Virtual World. Simply because its nowhere else that easy to do so. And the higher the bandwith we had the more got shared. Up until now, where if you know where to go, there is almost no need to Pay for Software on a Privat level (sure changes a bit on a company level, but even there are options). And Patreon is no exception there, just look at this Forum. A lot of the content shared here, is because a Patreon decided to share the stuff he/she payed for, with us. Sure there are also some Devs who publish their product here for free, but their hope is that they will reach a wider/bigger audience with this move, which may result in more patreons in the end.
We are so used to get stuff for free on the Internet, that we actually tend to become angry when someone asks for money.
I dont say that anyone should pay this Dev any money whatsoever, i think i made my Statement what i think about this game, cleare enough in the Reviews. But i guess what im trying to say is this, try to put things into persepctive before you get angry about it. There are so many things right now that can make someone angry, and the fact that some adult dev asks for a donation to release a few lines of code, should not be able to trigger you in any way. Just shrugg it off as "shit happens"
