What about all of us who don't agree with you? What does that say in reverse? Sure, maybe more than one person complains as you do, but a bunch of us don't care / are fine with things, so does that mean your opinion is suddenly "not correct"? Of course not. Give it up, dude. You have your opinion, others of us have ours. All your opinion means is that what is done in the game isn't to your taste. Stop acting like anything but agreeing with you means the game's going to tank or something. What a silly argument to make.
It means you're fine with putting up with awful parts in games on the promise of Pornography. I get it, there are plenty of crap parts of otherwise great games, for example the moving walls in Portal 2, or the Computer Bocks sequence is Fallout 4's Far Harbour, but the difference is, those bits were FAR into the game, giving you time to become invested and for the devs to build up a lot of good faith to allow for such mistakes.

This game however throws its crappy jank guesswork (it is guesswork, I know the answer is in the supplemental material, if you HAVE to read the supplemental material to beat a 1-in-3 chance, it's not supplemental, it's required, and should be in the main game) at you. No good faith building,, no time to get invested, no nothing, just "Boom, heres some crappy guesswork" which that early into a game does not set forth a good example of the game going forward.

Yeah, yeah. "I'm right and everyone who doesn't agree is wrong! My opinions aren't just opinions, they're facts!" Sure, buddy.

Despite repeating yourself yet again, there are several of us who don't share your views and don't appreciate having you constantly circling around the same carcass. Practically everything you're saying is just opinion: "awful parts", "crappy jank guesswork", "no good faith building" (w/e the hell that means), "does not set forth a good example". You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to think you have no real "points".

In fact, you are actually at fault for much of your own dissatisfaction. You never read the supplemental material. Whose choice was that? Ah, that's right: yours. You never saved when a choice was presented but plowed ahead knowing you might get a wrong answer. Who made you ignore the opportunity to save? That would be you. You could restart the game and choose differently (and even pause to save again). If you haven't done that, who caused the result? All signs point to you.

You don't like it, we get it. Instead of whining and going around the same points again and again while refusing to accept responsibility for your own (in)actions, just move along. Stop clogging up the thread with your griping already. You probably don't care, but FYI one more post harping on the same things and I'm moving you to my Ignore list. Being annoying just means ejecting yourself from future communications.

The most ironic part to all this is that you don’t have to get the answer correct to progress in the game, nor does it impact the player’s future relationship with his daughter. The correct answer nets you a smile from your daughter, and the wrong answer elicits a frown.

If Jen frowning at the player makes them feel upset, or like that’s information they should have known, congratulations, that was the goal. Not seeing your daughter for 10 years, not knowing or remembering things about her, it is frustrating. That’s exactly what that situation was designed to do.

As I mentioned before, I want players to explore without fear of making the wrong choice. People don’t stop loving you in real life because you forget to knock before you enter, or because you don’t make an effort to learn what their favorite food is. And your relationship with your girls isn’t going to be wrecked because of it either. Nor are you going to miss any important scenes with them. Your rewards for making the “right” choice (there are no right choices) is a smile or a frown, a scrap of background information, etc… and the big choices (do you wanna fuck?) are always clear.

I’ve gone longer than I want on this. For people who love the game and enjoy it, thank you. For those who don’t, I’m sorry. I’ll try to do better.

Good faith building is a process whereby people overlook bad bits in the game they are playing because of the good bits that came before it, the examples I listed are both fairly deep into their respective games/DLC's and so the player will gladly slog through them because overall, the game is good. Can also be related to sunk cost fallacy.

In fact, you are actually at fault for much of your own dissatisfaction. You never read the supplemental material.
No i didn't, because it is supplemental and the information contained within should be to enhance the games story, with in-jokes and references for players who read the supplemental material, not direct choices, forcing you to read the supplemental material.

Once again, if you have to read the supplemental material to get a choice correct, the material is required not supplemental and should be a part of the main plot.

Yep, I expected the game to have rollback, a basic feature that appears in 99% of VN's, alas not, I was also expecting it to be either a subtle "What's your daughters favourite food" choice, or the answer to be interrupted, because, as I stated above, it was a blind choice with zero hint at where to find the correct answer.

I absolutely take responsibilty for my actions, I didn't save, that's on me, however it's you, and the Dev, refusing to take responsibility for their actions that has lead us to this current point of contention, The dev burying their head in the sand and claiming it's fine along with a bunch of cronies doesn't change that fact, you can like bad games, and that's fine, you can even like bad bits in good games, and that's fine too, but don't go around pretending they're not bad.

The most ironic part to all this is that you don’t have to get the answer correct to progress in the game, nor does it impact the player’s future relationship with his daughter. The correct answer nets you a smile from your daughter, and the wrong answer elicits a frown.
Then what's the point in the choice? Why give the player that option? If your choice doesn't effect the game it's pointless, you could LITERALLY just have a line of dialogue going "Oh, I remember your favoute food, it's boiled clown heads in butter sauce" or whatever the fuck.

Choices should have meaning.

If Jen frowning at the player makes them feel upset, or like that’s information they should have known, congratulations, that was the goal. Not seeing your daughter for 10 years, not knowing or remembering things about her, it is frustrating. That’s exactly what that situation was designed to do.
Yes, I agree absolutely, and the point of my frustration isn't that I can't remember, it's that I wasn't told.

You can harp on about your extra materials all day, but going back to your Metal Gear Solid analogy, going "What's her favourite food, hey, maybe her biography will tell me" is equivalent to Baker going "Meryl's codec number is on the back of the CD case" whereas your method is Baker going "Call Meryl, I can't remember her codec number, oh well, derp" and it turning out that her codec number is hidden in the seperate "Prologue" menu option when you boot the game.

As I mentioned before, I want players to explore without fear of making the wrong choice.
And yet you literally give people that exact scenario 3 choices in.

Then you should just make a kinetic novel, no choices, just a path through the game, giving choices that effect nothing is unnecessary, choices should always effect something, even if the outcome ends up being the same, choices should effect opinions of you, how others act around you, whether they want to be around you, or with you, and so on and so forth. A smile or a frown and everything's forgotten isn't that.

Oh for fucks sake, just go make your own VN and stop hanging around here complaining about trivial things. This is how the dev wanted to make his game, his choice not yours. You've made your position clear in several posts now.

Congratulations . . . to me! I never have to hear your inane War & Peace-novel posts again, where you're more concerned about being "right" than being reasonable. I warned you, so say hello to my Ignore list.

I'm just replying to people who replied to me, not "Hanging around". I've replied to nobody else in the thread except people who have quote replied to me. You're really stretching now mate.

This is great that this was created, as I can use this tool (0x52_URM), to see what is behind the story choices (Ren'py only tool).

Ren'Py version has a lot of audio errors later on.
