Except that what people are moaning about is that we patrons of Crush DO pay for effort! :D

Somehow, that offends them mightily - enough so that they will get on this thread and repeat what each other is saying, and each expresses shock... SHOCK! that those who've followed the process continue to support it.
Are you sure that all of the patrons are sharing your sentiments? The number is not trending up as far as I can tell. It's trending DOWN.

I guess I'll check back in on this thread in a year to find the same 3 or 4 suckers saying the same shit they've been saying for a year. While the game sits in basically the same spot, except that crush has made a bunch more promising patreon posts.

Seriously, page 60 in this thread is a year ago, go look at that and the past year of changelogs from the first post. Same game, same assholes making the same posts trying to defend getting ripped off by a scammer who wrote some pages of good porn.

I played this for the first time about six months ago, and really loved the game. It was the first game I found that was close to a story idea I had for developing a game. Ultimately, I was not confident in my skill yet (never did Renpy coding or Daz yet) to try this story, so I created a femdom game instead, but this kind of story is a great idea to me. If this game has truly not been updated well in that long (I have only read the thread so I don't know the objective history of the development) I am truly sad, because this was so fun to play for me.

This game is the perfect embodiment of the exact reason I don't use patreon. One of far too many, sadly.

At least this game is consistent. No going to Bangkok, unless you walk through the subway turnstiles sideways.

As far as I remember, a lot of different systems, mechanics, and a sex engine with a generator are being developed now, which is not what Twine can give, and this is what It will probably limit.

You know, it's not so easy to implement in pure JS, let alone implement it in the framework of the engine...

This is true in all cases, but Twine is simply not designed for large and huge projects that also deviate from the concepts it provides. Anyway, that's what I see.
I agree for the most part, but keep in mind games like Degrees of Lewdity have managed to do a dynamic sex engine just fine (and I'm pretty sure that one is going to be more complicated than FA will ever be as far as sex mechanics go)

The latest "sex engine" Crush was developing was a very simple check property-random dice roll decision tree. Trust me, Twine is not an impediment to that.

I agree that Twine is not as transparent as it could be, and you kind of have to "force it" to accept raw JS in a relatively roundabout way, but it's not at all impossible.

Im still freaking amused at how Crush continuing to use this form of excuse for years and people are still paying them $5k. What a cruel joke that is, Im gonna work on technical features and old content in order for new content to appear faster :ROFLMAO: Its not even funny anymore... who am I trying to fool, ofc it is.

The problem is that such "dynamic" content is not suitable for Twine, it is designed to display pages with a large amount of text, it is not designed to quickly scroll through pages in sex scenes, as it happens in Degrees of Lewdity. This is a good example, because every time you select an action, the page is slowly updated, for example, I see a delay of 1-2 seconds, which is very annoying, especially in sex scenes. This is not noticeable when you read pages of text, but it is very noticeable in active short interactive scenes, which is why you should not use Twine for this, you can not provide the comfort of games even on a PC, let alone support for mobile devices, which is a priority in 2020 (just look at its market share), now the main gaming device is a smartphone, and Twine is even more limited there than on a PC, unfortunately.

Oh I know, I was mostly agreeing with you. What you mention is basically what I filed under "real time interaction". You can add timers and dynamically displays blocks of text in a Twine game, but it's true that the page refreshes are the default mechanic of Twine, and they can be annoying for certain things (and, on top of that, mixing Twine macros code with raw JS can be awkward)

What I'm trying to say is that, while Twine is definitely not the ideal option, the things Crush wants to do are not limited by his choice of engine. The #1 issue he's been running into is writer's block (that happened mostly because of feature bloat), not tech limitations.

No engine will tell you "Don't try to add and support 5 nationalities with 5 different origins from the moment you're born if you can barely make one relevant". A different engine might (well, in practice, not really, because there aren't engines specifically for sex games) make it easier to swap from "doggystyle" to "cowgirl", but again, Crush wrote a long post a while ago about how he wasn't happy with his choice of words to transition from one position to the other, which forced him to rewrite it again and again (by the way, that was for the Dubai scene, which is getting removed)

Oh, I know that this is perfectionism, I also try to prepare the ground before starting work...

It's just that people like me and Crush have such problems, we think we see potential difficulties, and it seems that if they are not solved first, it will be a disaster. Although in my practice in this process, I realized that solving problems as they appear is much better than trying to predict their appearance.

You know, when I was thinking about creating a game, I realized that twine would limit me someday, and that made me give it up, in turn, I have to develop all systems from scratch, and instead of writing a game, I just keep coding, rewriting the code many times, because I don't like the way it's implemented, being a perfectionist sucks, because you're constantly annoyed about little things, it hurts.

As for the engine, I have already heard that Crush works within a single file and this is not normal. I don't really understand much about how Twine is built, but there should definitely be a modular layout.
