He should open source it IMO.
Considering it's his source of income, he has absolutely no reason to and quite a few against.

I didn't contradict myself, 2 spin offs in 7 years isn't amazing compared to the 1000 people bitching about the game over that time. There should have been 500 spin offs, with better developers than the one for blue swallow or future agent.

(nevermind that there's probably no more than few dozens of people here actually complaining) So like, every other person who played FA and didn't like slow development going and starting their own version of the game? This completely ignores that people who make games are a tiny amount compared to how many simply plays them. In fact, having 2 spin offs (and a parody, the Girl Spy) is far more than what about every other game on this site which has been similarly dragging its feet for 5+ years can boast.

But i'm looking forward to the 3rd spin off you'll make. No doubt it'll be great. Please, don't disappoint us.

You gotta relax and not cherry pick things people say in exaggeration online and take them so literally. It makes you look petty, or maybe unable to decipher exaggeration or sarcasm, so some form of autistic condition maybe? Anyway, over 11 years (or however long the course of the game has been in dev) I am sure it's more than a few dozen people who have complained about update times. In my opinion, if the game was open sourced there would be a lot more games of it's type, with the same features and art style being created, than just 2 spin offs and a parody, this is the basic meaning of what I am writing. Perhaps try and extrapolate the basic ideas, without demanding I be totally precise and accurate in my wording. Or you know, ignore me. That works too.

I don't really think it's against crushes interests to open source everything. He would actually be more respected and loved by the community, if he supported games and also created an open source art library with victoria for other developers to use in their own HTML games... and then developers and artists could contribute to it, thereby in some ways potentially benefiting him too. If he made available everything needed for others to develop similar games, I also believe it wouldn't even affect his income. Anyway, you believe what you want though, and I will do the same.

Lastly, I am not on here bitching very often. So I don't really have to make a game. I mostly bitch once a year at most, and usually bitch at other peoples bitching because it doesn't meet my standards of bitching. Plus it would take me two weeks to learn how to code a game like this, which would be more effort than I am willing to put into it. I could probably help someone with art on the side, like I could easily theft everything and put it in photo-shop and create layers and then probably design new outfits, and definitely easily change colours of things all with editing, not even by drawing anything myself. And I think it's hard to even go after anyone for copyright on things like this especially if they have been altered in the tiniest of ways. But also, nobody has time and money for lawyers so people could just outright steal content if they wanted to... especially if they were overseas or hard to pin down a location for.

Crush did send me the original PSDs of the game once, I bet if anyone asked him for them he would just hand them over, so part of me thinks he's not that opposed to spin offs or people using things from FA that much anyway. I ended up deleting them though.

There's nothing to get. There's nothing to play, either.

The current iteration is an amalgam of three or four 'revamps' where material was scrapped, some reimplemented, and a bare amount of novel creation with each go. So what you're seeing is a mess of spaghetti from one very, very confused chef looking at a bunch of recipes he scribbled out in his wild imaginings.

Hey guys! Since the last report we were mainly working through some technical issues related to hair layers.
Currently the hair assets are all individually coloured in Illustrator, then uploaded as separate images. But the new hairs are more complex and numerous, so we're planning to use an SVG layer instead to handle the colour; the idea is that we can change the colour dynamically using code instead of manually recolouring and uploading everything.
We've been tackling some technical challenges over the past few days. Firstly, the game code wasn't set up to handle SVG assets, so this needed to be fixed! Then we hit some problems where the colour layer wasn't aligning properly with the underlying shape/detail layer, despite being exactly the same dimensions.
Anyway, we solved this problem today (it was to do with the export settings in Illustrator) and now the new SVG assets are working fine in the game engine and lining up seamlessly. Our illustrator lovely Victoria is experimenting with attractive colours.
Sorry for a slightly dull report – this kind of work is tedious but necessary in order to improve certain systems (like character hair).
While I was working on this I had some really great feedback from testers, which will improve the youth lifepath section and make it flow better. I'm gonna pivot back to that next and incorporate the improvements. Have a great what's-left-of-Monday guys! ❤‍

Honestly, out of all the weekly updates, I can definitely see this being problematic. Working with SVG has its own set of pains (as well as advantages) and alignment issues plus making it work properly with the Sugarcube/Twine engine sounds like even more problems, so I can see it taking as much (at least when you consider he's never done it before)
