That's still a few releases away, sadly. :( I have to upgrade two systems before I can write the Bangkok I wanna write.

1). Random NPC Generator
You know how the sex scenes in the game all currently feel samey? That's because the NPCs in the game don't have many distinguishing features programmed in. They don't have their own Kinks, or preferences about how and where to fuck the agent. They're all exactly as good in bed as each other. We basically need to code in some differences to make fucking them more interesting as this will be a core part of gameplay in Bangkok.

2). Sex Engine
Once that's done, we need to upgrade the Sex Engine so that the sex scenes are more interesting and differentiated. Basically my idea is to change the way the engine looks at sex from the current model, which is:

a series of mechanical actions which the characters involved progress through

to

an interaction between the location, the context, NPC traits, NPC decisions, PC traits, player decisions and a random element

Random NPCs and sex scenes are going to be a big part of the story in Bangkok, so I want to hit these first.

Long story short: When we consider current speed of development then we can expect 1st Bangkok update after 3 years. That's 2022 A.D.

Sorry to be a pain, but something occurred to me and I can't shake it.

During the story, the agent seems to be expected to have unprotected sex with her targets. I wonder whether her willingness to do this might depend on her past experiences / openness? I could see this being a real sticking point for some characters, who might try to get away with only giving blowjobs. Perhaps willingness to use condoms on the part of her targets might also be a mechanic, where there is a chance that they refuse and either try to force her to fuck bareback or sneak a condom off during sex. At which point maybe she has to decide whether to fight it or submit, where each choice affects her future amenability.

It does and it doesn't. In particular, it doesn't cover the psychological aspect, nor the character's behaviour up to that point. Eh, it's just one of those things, that once it starts bothering you won't go away.

Are you uneasy about her unwillingness to have unprotected sex? I think this is dealt with in the text. She obviously is on the pill, so pregnancy isn't an issue. And the text tells us she gets shots of a new (obviously sci-fi) genetically tailored drug that prevents her catching STDs. Psychologically it is only a problem if you, as the player, want it to be a problem. I mean, she has accepted the assignment knowing what it means and is even tested by her bosses to make sure she can do it, with additional psychiatric help. I kinda feel Crush has this one covered.

Interesting talk, guys, thanks! The game's current approach to condoms is a reflection of my attitude to them back when v1 was written: I just saw them as utilitarian and unsexy, really (and also a pain in the ass to code in and write about), so I just kind of glossed over them.

My position on them has evolved since then (partly helped by a fucking sexy porn scene I saw in which a guy who was gangbanging a girl came inside a condom then dumped the contents all over her face), so this is an area I'd like to address.

I think the Lifepath gives us an opportunity to let the player set the agent's preferred form of birth control and attitude to condoms (somewhere around the time we set her bikini line style and tattoo choices, maybe).

We could then reference her decision in the briefing and in the sex scenes. I think archer3334 is right, unprotected sex with random NPCs should be a bigger deal to an agent who's previously always protected herself with condoms.

I honestly wouldn't even start waiting until I've seen some Bangkok content, because I still have the suspicion that the development of this game is intentionally slow and gets sidetracked very often, but of course, if the patrons are happy with it then who am I to criticize it.
The development is slow but that's far from intentional. :confused: My biggest worry about the project is that people will just lose patience in the slow progress and abandon their support. I'm receptive to any ideas about how to speed it up.

I've never felt that slowing down development would create more income. I feel like faster development would help attract and retain more patrons, because they'd be getting more for their money?

Maybe some people think that in my mind the story is over once we get to Bangkok, and so I'm putting that off because it would end the project? But to my mind, the story truly begins once she's undercover. I'd absolutely love to spend my days creating and commissioning new story scenes and side quests, so that every time you log into Female Agent there's something new to discover. The Patreon model means that I could support the game with new content for as long as people are interested in it (like a pen & paper GM creating new adventures for as long as the players are interested in the campaign and their characters).

So in a way it is true to say that I'd like to prolong the game's development – but my vision for achieving this is adding new content, not coding slowly. :)

Just came across this line: "His accent is Scandinavian, or possibly Dutch." I picked Dutch as a second language in the game and despite the huge percentage of non-native English speakers there, the accent is one of the most recognisable and fairly egregious. Right under French if you ask me (am Dutch). Either way, my character definitely would not have mistaken it for Scandinavian, also considering the fact that a UK background exposes you to quite a few dialects.

On the other hand, why did I even bother to point this out as it adds very little? I guess I felt the need as you seem to like describing details.

PS. Since this is my first post here, really like the premise and enjoyed the inclusion of the Mozambique drill along with other details. Tom Clancy would be embarrassed but secretly proud.
