As I predicted. Gay men are the least likely to play as a female protagonist.
I never said that... I said that people that play those games don't self-insert, simple as that.If everyone played just to see a story as you say
What I mean is, do you like just to see the woman's perspective, or to choose that perspective?Wow....It has been almost 3 years.
The goal of this thread was to show that straight males do love to play female MC games that are not strictly lesbian. "Some" members of the community always preached that straight males don't enjoy female MC games unless its purely lesbian and I disagree with this statement to this day (I will believe you if you can prove a game like Anna Exciting Affection or any other game of similar nature is disliked by straight males and only played by Gays and Bisexuals).
For me, I like female MC games because they "try to" provide a different perspective. I know the male stories, girl is hot..need to build a harem...other functioning males are non existent...endgame is more predictable compared to female mc games (eg. most of the male mc games end with the options of being single, having a singular girlfriend or a harem). I just love to see the female perspective of being sexualized.
This concept is beyond comprehension to many people on this site. No amount of logic can change that.I can play a game about a weak shota that is milked by his mom without self-inserting into either character, I don't want to be either a dumb kid or a perv mother but the scene can be hot and immersive regardless...
I never said that people like you don't exist, I just said that the vast majority of people like to play video games to feel involved with them because of the interaction that video games bring.I never said that... I said that people that play those games don't self-insert, simple as that.

As I am playing a game, I have the power to choose the perspective or, some options that are simply not possible in a book or a movie. I am the spectator of her life in a voyeuristic manner with the power to create situations that would be beneficial for me.What I mean is, do you like just to see the woman's perspective, or to choose that perspective?
That's what I mean, you don't play video games for the sake of it, you play them for their interaction,As I am playing a game, I have the power to choose the perspective or, some options that are simply not possible in a book or a movie. I am the spectator of her life in a voyeuristic manner with the power to create situations that would be beneficial for me.
as you say here, for me that is a way to insert yourself as a god, you have the power to choose the situation and that's the fun, you are not a simple spectator like a movie, you are the one who makes things happen because you want them to happen.with the power to create situations that would be beneficial for me
Honestly it is amazing how hard it is for you to grasp a simple concept like this...I just said that the vast majority of people like to play video games to feel involved with them because of the interaction that video games bring.
Just in general.I think we have a different idea of immersion, maybe it's because of the language, I don't know.
but in general terms of what we are talking about, no, I enjoy a movie or a manga for its story, but I don't look for inserting myself in anything, I don't imagine myself in that world or anything like that, for me the only media that has that power is video games the power of gameplay and interaction is what allows me that immersion.
We get hot by watching. Man, we are perverted. As I am playing a game, I have the power to choose the perspective or, some options that are simply not possible in a book or a movie. I am the spectator of her life in a voyeuristic manner with the power to create situations that would be beneficial for me.
Thats why Bethesda games are so great. You create yourself, more or less, and you being that character. I love myself being abused by some fucking Raiders. Mm...Honestly it is amazing how hard it is for you to grasp a simple concept like this...
People that don't self-insert just don't fantasize about being one of the game characters, that just sounds like something a teenager does when watching shounen and thinking that he is a superhero.
When you play zelda you control Link, you aren't yourself. Same with Mario, and possibly every other game that has a defined protagonist and was clearly not intented for people to self-insert or roleplay.
it seems that you basically ignore almost everything I have said.Honestly it is amazing how hard it is for you to grasp a simple concept like this...

But you realize that this isn't self-insertion? That's my point, because not all games are made for self insertion, in fact most aren't.when i play mario, i control mario when i tell him to jump, he jumps at that moment he could say that I am mario, or that I am someone controlling mario (again a god), the same with link and with every video game out there.
that's the fun of video games, the interaction, if not for that I would watch movies.
My point is that it is still a form of insertion, as I was told above, they see themselves as a voyeuristic viewer with the power to choose interactions that benefit him.But you realize that this isn't self-insertion? That's my point, because not all games are made for self insertion, in fact most aren't.
I mean, who would even want to self-insert as mario when he is a literal cuck trying to rescue peach while bowser bangs her to oblivion?
Usually games with self-insertion have character creation and roleplaying elements (like skyrim)
I see the problem, you just don't know what words mean. If I asked anyone but you they'd tell me that Mass Effect is the game about self-insertion and Skyrim is the game about immersion. I guaran-fucking-tee it.Immersion- The player ceases to exist and you control the protagonist instead. ("the story is about Shepard")

So a game where you play as fix-named commander Shepard, that follows through a linear story to reach the exact same 3 endings is a game about "you"?I see the problem, you just don't know what words mean. As opposed to a fix-named Dragonborn, yes.So a game where you play as fix-named commander Shepard
Judging from the way you edited this in after the fact, I can see you are aware that that is the only way you are able to INSERT yourSELF into the story aside from picking a side in the civil war. Seems there's no real need to argue.turning into a werewolf or vampire
You are talking about the main story only... That is the least important element in every bethesda game. They are 95% side quests and exploration so you do whatever "you" feel like doing. Not to mention getting a house, marrying, and much more, none of which are required for the main quest.Judging from the way you edited this in after the fact, I can see you are aware that that is the only way you are able to INSERT yourSELF into the story aside from picking a side in the civil war. Simply to answer this, I say that it all depends on the player, shepard also has the intention that people can self-insert, that' s why you can choose their appearance, history, sex, sexuality, class, weapons, partner and choose some facets of their personality. So a game where you play as fix-named commander Shepard, that follows through a linear story to reach the exact same 3 endings is a game about "you"?
While a bethesda game where you can literally do anything from turning into a werewolf or vampire has a fixed and immersive protagonist somehow?
Yeah makes sense...
Well, this is literally what self-insertion means, you just have to adjust your understanding of it now.skyrim on the other hand is also made to give a character like this but without personality in search of more immersion for the player to feel more identified.
