Female Protagonist game lovers-Are you.....?

Well, this is literally what self-insertion means, you just have to adjust your understanding of it now.

It is when a story gives you a neutral character that is supposed to be "you". Many anime shows are like that, they tend to have a very generic looking and neutral protagonist for self-inserters.

And that is not the case for most female protag games, they always try to give you an original, well defined and good looking character instead of giving you a generic one for self insertion like so many male protagonist games do...

again shepard also has self insertion things, the character is designed this way so apart from what i said before you can make your own decisions on what can happen in moments of the story, you choose how you communicate with the characters and you can even decide with your decisions what happens to them, you can choose your sexuality and who to have a relationship with.

on the other hand the dragonborn has no personality, you can't choose, and everyone outside of the main storyline doesn't give a damn about the character, hence there are mods to change that, many of them in the immersion category.

While pure lesbian/gay ones are aimed for a more specific niche because straight people aren't as interested.

Sure there are some exceptions, like a few guys that hate all dicks and only watch lesbian porn, or girls that love homos and only watch gay porn but they aren't the majority of people.

yes it is true and I have never said otherwise, although to clarify a bit it would be straight men, not straight people in general as you put, I doubt very much that a straight woman is interested in lesbian side content and many others who have said they like another type of female protagonist not the typical slutmaker that you find here.

the difference is that in video games people are looking to insert themselves in some way or another (I'm not saying that they only do it as the main character) and in a purely lesbian game it may be impossible for them, that's why it's not as famous as the others, video games is the only medium where people can feel more involved with the story thanks to the interaction, so they are more interested in creating their world to fulfill their fantasies in a certain way.

that's why i say in a game with a female protagonist the interesting thing for them is the power to create situations that would be beneficial for them (the player), not only to see the scene, and for me that's still insertion, they insert themselves as the master/god/puppeteer who corrupts the protagonist for their enjoyment.
