I think its still to early to make assumptions like that. This project was made public just a few weeks ago. Its in a very young state and far away from even an alpha state. The premise is interesting and Ill definitely be following the progress from time to time and I hope they manage to make something unique that can set itself apart from Wild Life.
I do like the designs for those cat people, they added quite a realistic touch to them which is really cool.
Next thing they should look to improve is the world itself, right now its just a superflat desert with some trees and basic houses.
Added a proper landscape with dunes and better sand textures will instantly increase the overall quality.

Tried this. I'm not sure how anyone can compare this to WL at this point, apart from the concept I guess. WL has some of the best/smoothest/most detailed animations I've seen (I've run it on a 2nd 1400p screen while playing ESO on my main super ultra wide, so optimization seems ok to me with a 3900x/2080ti). But I gave the developer of this a follow, will see how it develops.

Since you asked...

After WW2, both Germany and Japan decided that they never wanted to go to war again and began serious psychological and sociological studies as to the root causes of war so as to head off violent trends in behavior before they started. Both came to the same conclusion, namely that sexual repression was a major factor in ultra right-wing ideologies (which they had both been under during the war) and decided that the simplest solution was to embrace a new attitude of totally open sexual expression in all its forms. If everyone is constantly getting laid, they reasoned, and no one had to hide their fetishes, then the root causes of aggression and, through that, war could be averted before it could even begin.

To elaborate on your question, however, the answer to "what is it with Germans and Furries" is nothing. The number of Furries in Germany is no higher than anyplace else in the world. The difference is that, see above, they just don't hide it the way Americans do. America is, of course, a nation still trapped under a mountain of sexual taboos so thick that half their states still have anti-sodomy laws because "OMG gayz R scary!" and likewise still suffers from "OMG furries R moar scary!" as well to such a degree that even on internet porn sites where you can't throw a dead cat without hitting a game that involves fucking your own mother you'll still somehow run into meatheads who consider furridom to be something to be ridiculed and mocked as "too deviant."

Great joke history re: Germany and Japan. Not quite The Onion, but close. Neither of them undertook any such study after WW2, of course, and both had these sorts of sexualized cultures long before the war (as did many other countries). It is true that the repression of speech in both countries hid the sexualized nature of their cultures, and that the end of the war ended the repression (for the most part), but its been there a long time.

The troll on America is less clever, but venom causes a lot of people to say dumb things, so I'll let that pass without further comment other than to note that sodomy laws are unconstitutional in the US (which someone who actually knows real things about the real US and not their fevered image of it would know).

But this repression will gain back more and more ground with every muslim fundamentalist entering Germany/Europe. We'll be thrown back in sixteenth century in between 50 years, if things continue evolving the way they do actually. Hard times for sexual liberty, trans genders , queers , lesbians and so on.

I was expecting more, seems like it just opened unity and used some base assets and just put it here for announcing a patreon. Come on this is just a 0.01 alpha

Abandoned at 0.1 ? Interesting. Wonder what happened
I'm guessing the dev realized the workload this game was going to take before he had any significant number of patrons, and dropped it as not worth the effort. Sometimes the only way to win is not to play.
