Fair enough, although I did not think that was what the others had put into dispute. Yes there were reasons which could account for such a calling out to be made - although I will still insist on the distinction of saying that good writing would insist on it being presented roughly as is by another person from whom it would be in-character, or presented differently by AmRose in such a way that it was in character for her.



His stated complaints were something you interpreted as sexism, yes. Let's just go with that they were, for now. It still doesn't have any more impact than when you've brought it up several times before. I'll spare you the rudeness of posting the previous comment for a third time, but will reiterate - the MC at this point has valid reason to be in significant distress over the safety of his sister (we are indicated that this is, in fact, the case to at least some degree), a character completely unlikely to be a bitch in the situation completely bitches out on him over it, and his only response is to be cowed into submission by her cruelty even though this is also not really consistent with his own character depending on previous choice. This is bad writing.



She has shown a strong personality multiple times. It was out of character for her to do this. Personality is not just a sliding scale of strength or weakness, it is a matter of character and the character is off. She goes from almost pathologically agreeable and permissive to alpha bitch in 0 seconds flat. A devoted pacifist can have a strong personality, a warmongering dictator practically requires a strong personality, but it is out of character for a devoted pacifist to suddenly lead a coup and invade Poland - or vice versa, strength of personality not withstanding.



She shouldn't have called him out on it because he had (and she knew he had, yadda yadda) valid reasons for genuine distress over it that her character as established so far would have been considerate of rather than being confrontational to aggravate it. Again, returning to the above stated on what his actual motivations are and why that is beside the point...



I see a whole lot of people not liking that this was badly written. I don't see people upset that someone might call the MC a hypocrite. So, returning yet again...


If you just want a character to (/ are glad that a character has) call him a hypocrite for not wanting her to be as sexually adventurous as he is, fine. There are plenty of ways that that accusation could be leveled at him in the game in a well-written way. This ain't it, chief. The execution is poor whether it made a statement you like or not.

I would absolutely like my friends and sigificant other to "call me out on stuff" even significantly less... significant than the topic here. Some I would expect to, some I would be extremely surprised by if they did. They have different personalities, you see, and because of that they act in different ways.

As you say, she has "called him out" before, and did so in a very different way, with very different character. I said above, and still hold, that the scene could be written so that AmRose still calls him out on this and so that the same plot points could be preserved without mutilating the writing in all the ways I've touched on. Again, the issue is not with him being called out, or even with AmRose calling him out, over wanting his sister to hold to a standard that he doesn't. The issue is with the bad execution.

I very much don't mean to be rude - you seem well intentioned and reasonable - but it does stand out to me that the people here arguing in favour of the scene do just keep looping back to the fact that they approve of the MC being called out. That is not the point of contention - explicitly, repeatedly stated not to be the point of contention.

I would just say "I don't know" because I tend to not expect people to act a certain way, but again for me, it didn't seem implausible, also I'm not disagreeing that it was badly executed that whole ending seemed like a mess made for the Christmas part, and I'm not disagreeing it could be better, maybe diminish the taunting at the end, but I don't have a problem with the way she approached it because again I don't "expect" things from people, and because it looked to me like it had a purpose, but since she met the sister: yes I would think that the hypothetical answer you gave was a possibility since her personality had shifted more towards that lately.

I think regarding the MC and Stacy situation that the MC may have a point if he's worried about Stacy getting blackmailed like he and AmRose are. His argument with AmRose over Stacy being there did fall a bit flat since it wasn't much more than "I don't think she's ready for this" and based on what AmRose said about him and Karen also a bit hypocritical.

I think the MC should've been more upfront with Stacy about his whole situation and offered to take her under his wing so she can get the hang of the Fetish Locator app with him to steer her away from sketchy situations and things she could be blackmailed with. I'm kind of hoping that Stacy does end up a little to far down the fetish hole now so that she can see that the MC was actually looking out for her because she does seem to be a little too carefree about the app and especially sneaking into the party.

It's still a very good game. Only reason people have been concerned over the dip in quality was because it was so good before, and it's well worth the play. Hopefully will just have been a bump, and next updates will return to form.

Also question of whether or not the scene will be given a bit of a re-do regardless of the community reaction to it, given that it's basically for a Christmas special scene which doesn't take place at in-game Christmas. As is, I'd recommend playing it through and waiting to see the next couple updates too. Very likely they'll confirm the quality to you.
