Part of the problem when there are patrons telling a dev "it's ok, take your time", guess what, they take their time... it was set to release 10/31-11/1 according to oppai, then the poll for an unnecessary at this close to release quality of life addition, now over a week later nothing but "soon", however long "soon" is... I'll be re-evaluating my patronage to him before the end of the month as with a couple others. I think there might be some other devs who might appreciate my money a little more...
You're letting your impatience win over you. The poll was a response to give the patrons a say on how fast the update should drop after problems arose during his coding. A decision needed to be made and he thought it was important enough to include his backers.

And seems like pretty normal behavior for supporters to encourage their creators to take the time necessary. I mean, what's the alternative? "Move your ass! Disregard any and all polish required to make the game feel complete." We might as well just ask for the folder with the images and animations at this point. Besides, as he stated on his discord, the content wasn't even finished come the 31st, and he said the scene gallery feature would take 1 or 2 full days of attention at most.

I'm sure he appreciates any dollar bills coming his way... perhaps some should appreciate his efforts to release a more complete product a bit more instead?

Very good point. I understand peoples frustration and impatience, but do you want a finished product or a half-assed bug filled mess? If it's not ready, it's not ready, and all the gnashing of teeth and wailing won't change that. If you feel the developer isn't consistently holding to his own deadlines and that's a deal breaker for you then you should consider your support, it's your money. I'd rather hold out for a finished game that's worth my money to begin with.

And let's be real, we are not talking Gumdrop (Dual Family) levels of delay here.

In his own words he said he would have it ready by that weekend, and was also apprehensive of the replay system because he wasn't sure how long it would take him to implement without causing problems, so the game itself was ready to go, unless you had access to info that I don't.

Hey, so, I'll try to explain as easy as possible ^^
There is a new system with choice and impact, with a separate path (like you could only develop girls you want starting from a specific point)
=> This has a problem with my replay system, as the replay system only launch a kinetic scene, here, scenes now have functions and is different with your choices (when you've made them, and not when you click on replay).
I'm breaking my mind on it to make it work, it has to implement a lot of new code and find a good way to do it, and I had an illumination.
I made the replay system to let people see the scenes again, here is the thing: I know that in popular ren'py games, there is no real replay system, and people replay the scenes by saving before a scene and just play the save.
=> I'm thinking about just stopping my replay stuff, and put a lot more save pages, like 10 more pages. To replay you'll just have to save and load.
This could be a HUGE save of time for me, It could remove many days of pure coding ^^'
I don't want to decide it alone so I'm proposing this poll.

The Update will arrive during this week, I'm not sure about the date tho'.
  • Render 95% finished
  • Texts 90% finished
I should finish both in the next 48 hours, the next work is mainly coding and work in the unity editor.
_____ This update is waited by a lot of people, and I also can't wait to let you try it!
Next updates will be organized differently, the goal will be to release an update monthly like at the beginning, I've got some plans about that but I'll write more about it after finish the current Update that is on its last stage!
Kisses
The implementation caused the problem. In my opinion this could have been added during developement of the next update seeing as he was so close to being finished with this one.

The lesson here (and one all devs should learn) is to not set specific release schedules. If you set one and miss (especially by a lot) it hurts your support and can cause a lot of frustration for the fans and the dev themselves. Only a few devs set those pre-planned release dates and actually hit them consistently.

by pre-planned, I mean setting the release date before the development is done. Like Mr.Dots, Boomatica, ArcGames etc. do.

Agreed, setting self imposed deadlines is madness. All it takes is one power outage or one run over dog to put you behind schedule and peoples noses are bent out of shape. Far better to just say you are hoping it will be ready by a certain quarter and have monthly dev notes with the odd sneak preview pic.

I'm seeing most devs do this now anyway.

I'm aware of the post as I'm also a supporter of his. My thinking is he created that post not long after learning the potential issues the new scene gallery feature might cause, meaning he wasn't sure what he was gonna do at that moment in time. Fast forward three days later to this message on his discord...

And he now sounds far more confident in what approach he was gonna take to resolve the issue, and just how long it should take to do so. The more important detail to take notice of here is it seems pretty clear he still had not finished the rendering and/or text as of the 31st, not to mention putting everything together afterwards in a game like state.

Was it a mistake for him to say the game would be ready to go by that week? Perhaps, but based on his comments it sounds like it was more so just general work causing the delay, as opposed to what you mentioned above. Even if it had been at the fault of the scene replay thingy, this was a chance to further optimize the game with a tidy feature that will always be put to good use from this point forward, and I'm personally glad he decided to include his patrons in the decision.

I don't mind delays as long as the dev is transparent along the way, which Oppai def is on his discord. He keeps everyone pretty well informed there in both the patron exclusive area as well as general chat.
