check the top of the screen to see if it's set to pad or keyboard. It's A and S if your using keyboard, I think.

Is it correct that literally everything except the main menu is still in Japanese?

I'd tried that already, but then it switched back to Japanese. Turns out it was loading my old save from when I played the game in Japanese a while back so it automatically put it back on Japanese. I'd already deleted my comment.

Backspace should do it even if your not on the main menu, and make a noise to tell you it's worked.
