So maybe I'm dumb or what but I can't start the game.

I download the thing and can't find the html, the description says I need to initialize the "index.html" but I can't for the life of me find it.

How do I start it?

All, I built an Image renamer script for this using Powershell. It renames all the jpgs in each folder to numbers sequentially. (So, each folder gets, 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg)
I also built a second script that creates an imagemeta.js for each folder. You NEED to use the renamer first!

They are pretty simple to use, just read the instructions at the top. Just open the files in Powershell ISE on your windows machine so you can read the files, fill in the blanks, and go for it.

my point about pregnancy still stands
Not really. It's straight up written in F.A.Q. for a game that no one banning pregnancy, there is some related content already in the game. Pregnancy system thought just wasn't worth the effort for anyone of that small number of people who bothered to work on the game during last several years.
Beside, this is open source project. If you really want to add it on principle alone then you can add it yourself. Even if it's for some reason not accepted into main branch you always can just have your own fork. Or just go play Crusader Kings 3.

Install instructions just say to extract and run index.html, but after extracting there is no index.html file anywhere in the game folder.

True.
It's now
dist/precompiled.html

Or you can build it yourself (if you change something manually), here is instruction from git:
  • Windows
    1. Run compile.bat
    2. Open dist/index.html (Don't mistakenly open the adjacent dist/precompiled.html!)
  • Linux
    1. Ensure executable permissions on the following files by running: i. sudo chmod +x compile.sh ii. sudo chmod +x dev/tweeGo/tweego_nix64 iii. sudo chmod +x dev/tweeGo/tweego_nix86
    2. Run ./compile.sh
    3. Open dist/index.html
  • Mac
    1. Ensure executable permissions on the following files: i. compile.sh ii. dev/tweeGo/tweego_osx64 iii. dev/tweeGo/tweego_osx86
    2. Run ./compile.sh
    3. Open dist/index.html

I really like the game (lost my savefile that was kinda advanced with my leader at lvl 40 but i can always start over) , and i am kinda surprised how all of that was possible to do in twine 2 and sugarcube, i thought twine 2 was only for simple games, not for a good game like fort of chains

Savescum, savescum, savescum, savescum.... and make sure to send out two teams at a time MAX or three if some assignments last longer.
