Out of curiosity, which developers do you think have been the most consistent and highest quality producing in the last 2 years?
LordArioch, but unironically. MITY's been fairly consistent in terms of output until now, albeit with a lower quality. The guys making In(cest|sexual) Awakening were about the same from what I recall. A good example on the other end of the spectrum would be Summertime Saga, a game where production times, the amount of content and the art quality go up and down like a fucking rollercoaster.

Probably Cheekygimp off the top of my head, the guy is consistent and if there would be any major delay, he actually pauses the patreon for that month instead of just cashing the sheckles with poor excuses

Runey is pretty consistent as well, his updates take longer to come out, but they are usually really on point with his schedule, i can't even recall any delays from when he actually calls a release date

MITY used to be decently consistent, but when the greed reaches certain point, the developers stop caring (Jikei used to be pretty consistent as well, until the fanbase grew exponentially and they started to laze about)

IMO, it's more a time problem than a greed or fanbase problem, as time pass you just give less of a fuck about whatever you were doing and getting patreon money feel less and less like something good / special because you're used to it

Obsidian is required in a few different stages of book: earth. If it can't be found in the tunnels I think Shady starts selling it at some point. If not shady then I'd recommend completing anything else you hadn't done then seeing if you get a deus ex obsidian as a plot reward. If all else fails then tutorials for the game on pornhub will sort you out fine. Hope this helps brotherman

If this doesn't help and you're still stuck, there's a cheats link on the first post and Obsidian is easy to grab there.

I'm trying to find a save file for the latest update. One for the end of each chapter. But maybe im dumb but none of them work or even at the end of the chapter.

Uh fuck me. I don't want this game to die.
It's not. The problem is MITY is super-dependent upon one coder, who does decent work but appears to be a little bit flakey at the best of times and has been totally sidelined by health stuff for a while, but his situation is improving. Of course, it's the holidays now so everyone wants their vacation, but things sound like they will be on track in Q1. Here's from today's patron update:

MITY's art update 12/5/2019 said:
First of all, it's very humbling to see we still have so many of you here with us. I called everyone who was willing to stick around a little longer saints in my last November art update, but I really was not expecting this many of you here. After thinking for more than ten minutes about how to convey my feelings and still failing, I'll just say thank you very much.

I'm very happy we still have this much goodwill left after what has been an extremely frustrating ride of postponements. For all of you this was and still is a rocky ride. For us no less so.

I can't be truly happy unless we're... let's say six months into the future. With a more or less normal release schedule again and all of this far in the past. That's when I'll really be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Till then it'll be a balance of trying to make up for it and not make the past mistakes of going on until the wheels fall of.

I mean, the shattered ankle thing is just a horrible dumb accident which happened to occur at the worst possible time. The timing of that is almost a work of art in itself. However, if we had taken that vacation a lot earlier the broken ankle thing wouldn't even have happened... Probably... Maybe something worse would've happened instead. (Where the hell am I going with this...?) The future is unknown but we'll do our best to make better choices with a higher chance of sustainable success? Something like that.

Anyway the coder... I'll call him Rob today, Rob already is or should almost be home again. He was staying over at his parents place to "get his legs under him"... *badum tsssh* and have another doctor's checkup.

I'd certainly like to be at "voice distance" from people who love and can help me when severely limited in my movements. It's nice when other people can drive you places and get groceries among other things. Apparently there's a lot of stuff which becomes a hurdle when putting pressure on your ankle is still mostly a nono and then there's all the other side effects.

I've never broken a bone in my life and I prefer keeping most of my ignorant bliss when it comes to the problems that brings with it. Just spraining my ankle once was bothersome enough already. It happened when my dog had escaped and I was running after it in the dark over uneven terrain... The "good" thing about it was, she came back to see why I was making such weird noises all of a sudden while lying on the ground.

Anyway, Rob has been doing whatever he could during the time with his folks, but now that he's back home he should be able to devote some more serious time to whip this Christmas build into shape. Since it's December I think I can call it that now. I don't know when it will actually be done as in a date, (except for and I quote Rob "absolutely this month") but we've at least got a lot better circumstances going for us again. Not having your parents around helps when creating smut!

This month's build, although I'm calling it a Christmas build, has nothing to do with Christmas and yet somehow it does feel slightly like a build meant for Christmas. You'll understand when you'll get to play it. Or maybe you already have an inkling of what I mean. Some of you guys are pretty damn sharp.

As for me, I need a break from FET. I've been working on it by myself in "darkness" for too long without much (or any sort of) feedback from Rob and it's gotten me to a point where I want to jump out of my skin. November has had a bit more impact on me than I realized at first. So I'm not doing any sort of work on FET until Rob has finished the build.

Problem is I can't really sit still either so I'm choosing to do something different, some work on a game which we might or might not make in the future. Nice and vague of me right?!

I'm not entirely certain myself, but I want to prevent myself from burning out on Avatar stuff and become the limiting factor once the coder is 100% up to speed again. That'd be way too shitty. So I need to do something which isn't avatar related but still makes me not feel guilty for not working on FET in some way.

I have some ideas, but if you have one too, like a cartoon you'd like to see MITYfied eventually, just mention it in the comments and perhaps upvote anyone else's idea you see and like.

Now I want to stress it might be ages before you'll ever see the result (if any at all), but it'll be nice to get a feeling of what you guys consider interesting. I mean, the avatar universe has always been my number 1 (and second and third etc) thing I wanted to smuttify and while I do I have some other cartoons I enjoy, nothing at the level of avatar so it'd be nice to see what most of you guys are into.

And that's already it again for now. Thanks again for being a bunch of madlads and sticking with us a bit longer. We hope to make it worth your while in the end.

Well, can't say we didn't see that coming. Crazy idea - what if MITY took the $20,000 they're making per month to hire another coder?... but that would mean they'd each make a little under 100K a year and idk if they could survive on such a small salary...

You can't always just hire another coder and be done with it. From what I've read (on here) from people who want to make mods for the game, the code is pretty messy. You would have to hire another coder, hope the original coder isn't pissed about it, bring the second coder up to speed on what is happening in the code (which could take a few months), get both coders in sync with each other on how they're going to do all this, and then after maybe 6 months you now have two people working on messy code. This also introduces the possibility of increased bugs as even though the coders are now working together, they're also working separately. Each one has the possiblity of making new bugs.

The code being messy mean that you'll need another coder anyway at one point unless you're lucky enough for your game to end before the code crumble on itself, hiring more guys was always a necessary step and the longer it takes, the more painful the transition will be, like ripping of a band aid.

Obviously bloating your team is also an issue but MITY isn't really at risk of that just by taking a backup artist and a backup coder.

Well the Book 4 slave route still needs to finish and then there's the love route which is usually longer than the slave route. I think Mity plans to do one last thing after the Book 4 love route ends, probably a final route that ties everything together. So if anything the code will probably get messier depending on what Mity wants to implement.

I don't know the coder so I can't say anything about him or whatever his circumstances may be, but from a project management standpoint Mity should probably start looking for a new coder. It's sounds easier than it is but it's the better alternative than to let the project implode due to various issues regarding the current coder and the game's code.

Or, you could just have the guy fixing old content. Or you could hire someone to work on minigames that are completely separate from the main codebase. Or you could hire a writer. Or you could commission work from another artist without even having to hire them. Or you could employ a sound guy. Or you could get a dedicated beta tester. Or you could...
