Well... I expected more. At least at the same level as the previous ones.
I think MITY spent too much time creating the game around this mechanic of the bag and did the scenes with no creativity, without exploring the Halloween themes as it could have been (not even the plot). Additionally, we barely "mixed" items, so why this mech was all about, and need to test everything when you feel stuck, might be frustrating as hell. Felt like a badly made puzzle game, without thinking from the perspective of those solving, with an ocean of possibilities. But in puzzle games, we have more hints and intuitively solve them with more logic than just trying things almost randomly. But this all would be ok if the scenes were good... and they were pretty much generic (I even feel like he used only already drawn models from FET to create almost everything - not to mention the sex with the whores being zoomed in and just a straight-up recolor, I know he's used to using recolors on FET and the same body models but this time was really lazy). And to finish, the "secret scene" with Jinora & Ikki felt like being the same thing twice, no boobs, again with preset body models, no teasing or anything new. Indeed felt like this whole story, our "Tenzin" was just worried about reading his book and came up with whatever he could to fill the blank for this special month. In other words, I felt like MITY didn't actually want to make this Spookytimes. It was just his job. A goal to finish. Not a piece of art and fun that he wanted to present.
At the end of the day, I'm playing it for free, so I can't complain, and I won't make anything greater, so... cool, I guess. 6/10. Enough to pass. Happy Halloween.
I completely agree. The devs themselves admitted they were short on time. With a bit more development, the whole thing could’ve been so much stronger. For example:
- Extra scenes with Ikki at the cemetery, actually contributing to the story instead of just appearing briefly
- Moments where Jinora’s ghost shows up in the cemetery as well, tying her presence into the narrative
- A less predictable plot. Everything basically screamed she’s the culprit, so it lost all suspense. A twist revealing it wasn’t her would’ve added way more intrigue
- More meaningful “break” or “pause” sequences. There’s no point in giving the player the option to go to the bathroom or take a break if nothing changes anywhere. They could’ve shown Korra meditating, Jinora training, etc., so the world feels alive
- The other capsules could’ve featured different monsters, zombies, mummies, werewolves, and so on, instead of repeating similar beats. Honestly, I expected way more variety
- And a hint system. When you’re stuck, even a subtle “I think I should try doing this…” would’ve prevented the frustration loop.
And personally, I would’ve liked to see at least one scene with a younger Jinora.
Overall, that’s how I felt while playing. Not sure if you all had the same experience.
