This is the Patreon version Friends Indeed with dark content removed not Friends in Need. FiN is not out yetSooo... is the remake gonna be that much softer overall? Even with the patch, it felt way sweeter than OG Ch1. Like damn, back in the day you could go real dark with Nikki on her first visit — now it’s all like “aww she cute” instead of “yo wtf did I just do
”.
If this is just a Nikki thing or early-game pacing, then cool — I get it. But if the whole game goes full marshmallow mode... that’d kinda suck. What I loved about the original was the freedom — you could go full villain or keep it chill. The edge made it special.
Please, dev, don’t turn this into “you’re a good boy OR a slightly grumpy good boy”. Let us be unhinged if we wanna, we’re grown.
That aside — gotta say, the redesigns is good. Lore additions for MC are solid too. Visually looks great, and I’m totally down to replay it. Just... please don’t nerf the dark routes. That was the soul of the game for me.
Think of Friends Indeed like "Miriam" without the "prometeus patch". Both are versions without the most contentious material (no rape, insults, spit etc in Friends Indeed and no bestiality, incest etc in Vanilla Miriam). Both "safe" versions are released to appease Patreon rules.whats the difference with friends indeed? i dont get it from the changelog and the comments, its like a softer version of the main game or a different universe?
Look no Offence but there is no Patch for adding the dark side if your playing the patreon Version Chapter 1 Remake.I like the remake still it's more fleshed out and ironed out still there has to be a patch that restores the original Taboo stuff but with better renders and story
Except that the chapter pretty clearly indicates that if Guy had taken the initiative, she would have gone with him from the start. You can tell when she asks Guy whether she should go out with Brent in the first place.I assume, among other reasons and impacts, that it's a way to explain why Nicki wasn't romantically locked in from day one, and was with Brett instead of the previous version of MC .... which looked like a good match for her, just without money. Which made her look shallow and worse at the start of the original.
In the remake he is just not that attractive, which explains her attitude and earlier lack interest, aside from friendship. Not just for superficial reasons like his looks, but also his state of mind.
Seems two different times in the life of the Dev. Before, three years ago, he was darker. A love delusion ? A separation? Who knows. Now seems he is in a good mood and he wants to save Nicky’s character. Probably “Nicky” is an importan person for NeonGhosts .So I just played the remackeCH1. And I gotta say, the OG version is better. And is not because it could get superdark, but because MC had a reason to be an asshole (not a complete demon, but an asshole). So choosing anything, aside from the worst path, felt natural and realistic.
- Problem CH1 Nicky visit: In the OG, Nicky seeks and sweettalks the MC to bail her out, because she learned he has money. It is a selfish act, and it gives reason to the MC to be somewhat of an ass. At the same time, she feels bad about it, she is MC's friend, and she is in serious trouble( that is partially the boyfriend's fault). So you have valid reasons for going either way. But in the remake, Nicky seeks MC, tries to contact him, waits at his house, all without knowing he had money. Meaning she is a true bro., and angel to the MC. It is less realistic, and it gives you little justification to be an ass.
On the + side, it seems that Gabby (the one girl that definitely looked "too young") is getting a redesign.
ANOTHER GOOD GAME RUINED BUT THE CCurse of rework...what we have to wait for it to be redone entirly? 5 years at least...we were in hap 13 i think...this is a joke...i'm out.
If you'd taken a few minutes to read the last few pages of the thread, you would have learned that Neon doesn't plan to remake the other chapters. Before he can incorporate those chapters into the remade Chapter 1, he just needs to make some changes to the code, maybe add a few renders, and adjust some text so everything stays consistent. If some dev try to remake before finish story you must run fast as possible.Cash grab and milking alert.
Yeah, Guy fucked up at this point.Except that the chapter pretty clearly indicates that if Guy had taken the initiative, she would have gone with him from the start. You can tell when she asks Guy whether she should go out with Brent in the first place.
7 pages back - https://f95zone.to/threads/friends-in-need-ch-1-remake-v0-25-neonghosts.112500/post-16897324im pretty sure Neon has said before (on Patreon/Subsar or in the game, i cant remember) that although he wrote the original Ch 1, the renders were done by someone else, and he's always had the intention of remaking it before the game was finished. I could be wrong, but im pretty sure.
At the end of the day, it's the dev's story and it's their time. Plus, there seems to be two different games, Friends In Need (this new softer version) and Friends in Deed (the OG) complete with the dark path so no worries for those folks who liked the dark version as it will still be around and development will continue.
Personally, I really like the new version as well as the OG.
