Thanks for pointing this out, but I'm well aware of it, which is why I wrote "someone like Lucien" rather than just "Lucien". What I said is that being rich, publicly known, proactive and careless, he would sooner or later attract the attention of criminals and become their target. But it happened differently, another friend in need literally dragged him, unarmed and unprepared, into the lair of these guys.
MC is very rich - that's a fact, he's a local public figure - that's a fact, he sticks his nose into other people's affairs, walks at night in poor neighborhoods - that's a fact. He has a lot of money and hasn't even thought about his security so far. Given these facts, it seems to me that it is only a matter of time before he is approached by someone who wants to help him get rid of his extra money, from simple petty robbers to guys like Lucien who specifically prey on rich, careless dudes. Although Lucien usually blackmails them with compromising photos, but who knows if this is his only area of expertise.
So my facts are straight as an arrow, man.
BUT. But I didn't continue this topic because I gave it a second thought and read several posts from the dev and other people here. I still think MC should have thought about his safety long before Risa brought him to Lucien. He seems like a smart guy and working in the store helps you understand what kind of people you can meet sometimes
Putting aside the fact that authors usually make their characters do stupid things in order to make the story interesting, people are pretty good at doing stupid things themselves. People routinely ignore obvious potential problems until they face the consequences. MC lived the life of a simple clerk until he suddenly became rich, it is clear that he could not change in one day. He is quite careless because he has not yet encountered serious trouble. Plus, he lives in an expensive and apparently well-guarded building, so he doesn't have to worry about housebreakers.
However, he already receives the first serious hint via a bum’s knife if he tries to help another friend in need without thinking first. Nevertheless, the inertia of thinking remains and he continues to ignore the danger of such behavior. A cute girl you don’t know well asks you for a ride, what’s wrong with that, who will refuse? Anyone who hasn’t found themselves in a situation where a pretty, unfamiliar girl can lead you into a dark alley and introduce you to a bunch of her friends with whom you’ll willingly share the contents of your wallet and car keys is unlikely to even think about such an outcome.
Well, so far everything looks quite natural. And the gun put to MC's head finally made him think about the meaning of life. I'm looking forward to seeing how the MC plans to solve this problem because Risa has put her burden on his shoulders and now he's the Chosen One.
The cops weren't very helpful, so it seems MC decided to deal with Lucien on his own. The actions that he has taken so far look very funny, although it is probably quite natural for a person who has not encountered anything like this to be confused and act on impulse. And the gym is good for your health anyway.
Of course, everything I wrote relates only to the Good Guy as the dark path isn't my cup of tea.
