Not sure if that's an oversight, or if there's a specific reason; I guess I would've assumed it'd land you on her corruption path or something?
Part of this is that I've just been trying to smarter about coding stuff. :'D So, I try not to create a "rel" status unless it's a significant divergence from another path.

Originally, I tended to group most stuff under a 'rel' modifier. Ashe has five or six after her first appearance. One showing she likes you, one showing she's afraid of you, one showing she hates you.. But, also some to show if she never came to your condo, or other minor, dumb things. I could've just done ashrel = 0, ch2_ashcondovisit = True, ashkiss = False, etc. and saved myself immense headache trying to dance around the specifics of their interactions. Over time, I've been trying to use more one-off/disposable variables to denote certain actions taken, or knowledge a character has, etc. and reserving "rel" statuses for significant plot divergences.

With that Britt scene, as you noted, she has the "brifear" modifier to show that Guy scared her by whipping his dick out. But, besides being a little skittish about Guy, her storyline in the brirel 0 path isn't too different, no matter what decisions you made. She came in and took photos, she had no explicit sexual contact with Guy, and she went home without Jamie returning and finding her. The main difference is how she feels about Guy. Did she like him? Did she like him enough to kiss him? Or did he freak her out? None of those things really require a new "rel" score, but I can always use her points/status to inform a later possible route. So, if brirel == 0 and brifear == True, maybe the player can do another pushy photoshoot, or generally just be a bit more of a sleaze, whereas maybe the option won't be there if brifear == False.

Honestly, if I knew what I know now, a lot of stuff would be tagged/coded differently. A big part of my desire to rework Chapter One/restart everyone's saves, is that I'd like to streamline and unify everyone's points, statuses, etc. It's honestly a mess, as I kept trying different stuff, experimenting with what was most intuitive. For instance, I think I started with nidkpts, nihpts, etc. Then Viola and Risa got ri_lt, or ri_dk, because it seemed less annoying to type. Then I realized that what I really should've done all along is just start everyone with a base level of 10 points, which can decrease to 0, or increase to 20. Everyone would just have scores like $ nipt/gbpt/ashpt = 10 to begin with, and then move plus/minus like a sliding scale. As is, it's a fucking mess of various, often conflicting values, which makes coding new sections a pain in the dick.

That... is awfully specific for something you supposedly don't want to see...
You've never tried to watch a compilation vid of the sex scenes from Cloud Dreamer, have you?

Even if you just want the stuff where the monsters fuck the girl, the stuff with the guy getting fucked end up in there as well.

I saved two special renders Neon shared of Mason & Nicki a while ago and thought I would post them in case anyone missed out and wanted them.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Also, I have a special render of Mason drooling into the mc's mouth in a first-person view if anyone want that too.

Anyway, if you are like me these renders will brighten your day a bit. And thank you again for the renders Neon.

Wouldn't it be possible at least to consolidate those variables at the beginning pf a new update and use slinding scales from then on?

Yeahhhh, and I may well end up doing that. Everything as is works (even if it's ugly), and fucking with it may end up breaking things I don't want broken. Adding/fixing certain things could be accomplished through specific variables here and there. There's just a certain level of obsessive compulsive in me that hates having a big mess. But, we're closing in on the end of Part One/Season One/Whatever for FiN, and at that point I plan to spend some time finessing all that stuff, anyway. Until then, I may just try to limp along and keep holding things together with bubblegum and wishes.

Nikki playing with Mason's hair might be the cutest thing ever.

As always, thx for taking the time to explain and clear things up :) I probably shouldn't lean too much on the code to explain the characters or the writing haha.

It's also honestly neat to kinda get a peak at how the VN sausage is made. Budding devs can learn a lot from this kind of stuff!

Look, whatever transphobia I suffer from, or deeply rooted subconscious gay panic I have, just hurry up and let me cream pie Britt and have her leave her mom's house and move into the old apartment/photo studio to kick off Guy's live-in harem.
Nah, what are you talking about? There's a perfectly good, free room in Guy's condo. The old apartment is where the side chicks go.

Yea, I know that feeling. It always feels like I'm duct-taping parts in an ad hoc manner and I just end up doing a complete overhaul of the whole organization system. It's annoying when it feels like everything's in this murky disarray.

Well, this will payoff in the long run. If you keep things orderly you won't have bigger messes later. If adding more status will cause old saves incompatibilities, i'd recommend to just pull the bendaid now rather then try to fix the unfixable later.
I bet basically all of us would be ok to re-play the game. If you skip verbose parts you already know it doesn't even take that much time.

I'm actually looking forward to the restart because at the moment my saves are a mess because I knew we were starting again eventually anyway.

I'm probably going to cut my playthroughs down to two saves (one for Mason & Nicki exclusively) and one manwhore save.

whats the difference between vanilla and the first Download
Long discussed topic, you can find more info with the search box, but the short version is this game has good guy path and bad guy path. The later is rapey and abusive, and since that doesn't work well with Patreon, the Patreon (vanilla) release has the bad guy path cut and you can restore it with the patch from this topic.

Not entirely right.

whats the difference between vanilla and the first Download

Vanilla version is called "Friends Indeed".

Full version is called "Friends in Need". Anyway, you need the patch to "unlock" its full content. Moreover, you need to check whether the patch is "working".

Therefore,

1. download and unpack the full version,

2. check whether there is a patch.rpy file inside FriendsInNeed0.60c/game folder.

Then, you have to check the patch file: read it using a text editor.

You should read this:

label patch:
$ patch = True
return

if the patch is "false", edit and write "True".
